Hotel Tour: Manhattan At Times Square Hotel in New York City

NO HEAT IN THE ROOM I REQUEST NEW ROOM THEY WERE OVER BOOK BAD BREADFAST ONE COFFE ONE APPLE AND ONE COOKIE LONG LINE IN THE COUNTER 30 MINUTES WAINTING BECAUSE EVERYBODY HAVE A PROBLEN NO WORKING THE LIGHT AhardykGreat stayThis is my second stay here. Great location right next to Times Square. Got a free upgrade for my birthday which was a big plus. The room in the 18th floor was upgraded and modern. Bathroom lovely with rain shower head and good pressure. Not alot of counter space though. Room very clean. Front desk service friendly and helpful. Although no valet, parking easy just around the corner. Easy to walk to many places from this hotel. This is my second stay at this hotel. I would stay again. The non upgraded rooms are a bit more aged but were still clean. For me, you arent going to NYC to just stay in the hotel, but this is a very good one at an affordable price point. ltfisher10Avoid staying at this Hotel ! Maggie FAbsolutely revolting hotelKatie BBeware!!!JenW-R19Do not stay here!We are actually here now and our room is absolutely disgusting, mouldy, smelly, the dust is beyond belief. I asked to move room and they said i could only pay for an upgrade which would be an extra £170 a night. I was bought this holiday as a present for my 40th and this hotel has totally destroyed my experience. Please DO NOT STAY HERE if you want a nice hotel !!!!!Dianne PVery disappointed guest. Permits Filed For 1477 Third Avenue On Manhattans Upper East Side

By: Vanessa Londono 6:30 am on December 12, 2022

Permits have been filed for a 15-story mixed-use building at 1477 Third Avenue on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Located between East 83rd Street and East 84th Street, the lot is two blocks from the 86th Street subway station, serviced by the Q train. Noam Shemel of Kano Real Estate Investments is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 152-foot-tall development will yield 25,754 square feet, with 24,096 square feet designated for residential space and 1,658 square feet for commercial space. The building will have nine residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 2,677 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and a 19.5-foot-long rear yard.

BKSK Architects is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits have not been filed yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Guests don’t pick the Manhattan at Times Square Hotel for its outdated rooms. But the 659-room hotel’s good fitness center and free Wi-Fi give it an edge on many Manhattan hotels. The lobby is more stylish than the rooms, featuring gray walls, chic chandeliers, and black leather couches. It’s not the most luxurious property, but the rooms are comfortable and the location is prime.

Standard Rooms Are Drab And Worn But Have A Very Comfortable And Clean Bed The Renovated Executive Rooms Are Much Nicer

The standard rooms, at 280 square feet fail to impress — but they have all the important basics. The beds have Sealy Posturepedic mattresses and there are work spaces in every room. Other amenities include 37-inch flat-screen TVs, clock radios, coffeemakers, in-room safes, and irons and ironing boards. Bathrooms are clean but dated, with shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and Pure by Gloss toiletries.

The renovated Executive Rooms are much nicer — featuring white leather beds, gray walls, and black furniture. It’s worth upgrading as the rooms also have 55-inch flat-screen TVs, Nespresso machines, marble walk-in showers, and pre-loaded tablets.

At The Center Of Busy Midtown West Close To Nearly Every Subway Line And Most Midtown Tourist Attractions Such As The Moma Radio City Music Hall Rockefeller Center And Broadway Theaters

The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel is located smack in the middle of the Midtown West action, which is noisy and congested more often than not, but is about a 10-minute walk from the considerably more crowded and noisy center of Times Square.

The hotel’s block, on 7th Avenue at West 51st Street, consists mainly of office buildings, a McDonald’s, a Starbucks, and a number of less-than-notable diners and bars. For great shopping and high-end dining, guests should check out Columbus Circle, a 10- to 15-minute walk north of the hotel.

Also within walking distance, there are several points of interest. Rockefeller Center, for shopping, ice-skating, and dining, is just five blocks away. Radio City Music Hall is only three blocks away. The MoMA and all its modern-art glory is an easy four-block walk. The theater district and all its Broadway shows are also just a short walk away. Central Park is also about a 15-minute walk north.

Getting anywhere else in the city isn’t a problem. Doormen are on hand to help flag down taxis, and the hotel is close to the majority of the city’s subway lines at the Times Square 42nd Street station . Lines covering the east side of Manhattan run through Grand Central Terminal, a 25-minute walk from the hotel. That station is also accessible via the shuttle subway train from Times Square.

Ground Breaks On New Science Play Area At Pier 26 In Manhattans Hudson River Park

By: Vanessa Londono 7:00 am on December 15, 2022

A new recreational space in Hudson River Park will include play elements inspired by marine science to teach children about the local ecology. The 4,000-square-foot space on Pier 26 at North Moore Street is being developed by the Hudson River Park Trust, which broke ground on the space yesterday. Designed by OLIN, the interactive sculptural elements are inspired by wildlife and the Hudson River habitat and will also serve as an outdoor extension of the environmental programming planned for the future Hudson River Estuarium.

The science play area will complement the offerings at the adjacent Pier 26, which is also designed by OLIN and features a habitat walk through several ecological zones, a sunning lawn, sports area, and an engineered rocky tidal marsh. The Hudson River Estuarium will also be adjacent to the play area, and become a center for marine science research and public education on river ecology.

Funding comes from Hudson River Park Friends, the fundraising partner of the Hudson River Park Trust, which raised approximately $4 million for construction of the play area. Additional funding came from city council member Chris Marte and Manhattan borough president Mark Levine.

The play area is expected to open to the public in 2023.
