Museum Of The City Of New York
If you prefer your museums to tell the story of a place and its people rather than art, then you will want to visit the Museum of the City of New York. We really love this museum, and you can learn a lot about the city. We can also recommend the Queens Museum if your travels happen to take you over there.
Dating from 1923, the museum focuses on telling the stories of New Yorkers, through a series of objects and images. In fact, the museum has over 1.5 million objects in its collection! There are plenty of interactive exhibits too, as well as videos.
All in all, this is a wonderful museum to come to if you want to get an insight into life in New York over the years. Its open every day and theres an entry fee. You can buy your tickets online in advance here.

Nd Visit To Manhattan New York
I am planning my second visit to Manhattan and was looking for some advice on which area to stay.
The last time I was there I stayed at The Hudson on 57th Street and although it was a nice enough hotel I found that there wasn’t much to do in the evenings within walking distance.
That however was 2006 but I have always said if I go back I would stay in a difference area with easier walking access to bars etc. in the evening.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
My wife and I are both in our mid-30’s and will be enjoying the usual tourist sightseeing during the day and in the evening we enjoy nice small restaurants and decent bars/pubs with a good atmosphere, not into clubbing so not looking for nightlife in that sense.

Full disclosure, I am a manhattanite and have been a village dweller for a long time. Everything I say is MY OPINION :).
Manhattan can be divided horizontally via important streets, those define a sort of border or barrier separating the theme or ambience of one neighborhood vs the other.
East village all of the avenues have interesting restaurants and cafes and venues spread out through them, check out St Marks Place .
Greenwich Village, Soho, Noho, Lower East Side is a great area for what you seek.
