Joey Gallo Leads Yankees In Home Runs

Joey Gallo’s first few months in pinstripes did not go as planned.

Coming over to the Bronx from the Rangers in a blockbuster trade at the deadline, the slugger struggled mightily at the plate, hitting just .160 with 88 strikeouts over 58 games with his new ball club.

Gallo can’t get that first impression with New York’s fan base back, but he can certainly win them over in his second year with the Yankees. And he will, by doing what he does best.

Some of Gallo’s numbers are awful from his time with the Yankees in 2021. He finished the year with a 34.6 strikeout percentage, a .202 xBA and a 38.8 Whiff%, all in the bottom one percent of the entire league. He truly looked lost at the plate at times, often awakening the boo birds at Yankee Stadium.

To give up on Gallo and assume that he’ll produce more dreadful numbers in 2022, however, is silly. Sure, he strikes out a ton, he always has. But he’s also shown that he has what it takes to be an elite hitter with unmatched plate discipline and prodigious power.

Even with Gallo’s elongated slump during the final few months of the season, the outfielder finished the campaign with an 18.5 Barrel% and an 18% walk rate . Plus, he ended up with 38 home runs and a 123 weighted runs created plus , 23 percent above league average.

Aptopix Yankees White Sox Baseball

DYERSVILLE, Iowa As the bus carried the New York Yankees through the cornfields blanketing this serene, rolling farmland of northeast Iowa, Aaron Judge noticed a difference from the usual arrival in the next city.

The ride to the Field of Dreams site to play the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night had everyone’s attention, like a bunch of kids who couldn’t believe what they were getting to do.

It was the first time people had their headphones out, and they were just glued to the windows, checking out the scenery, said Judge, the three-time All-Star right fielder.

We have a lot of guys from different countries who really haven’t seen the country like this, or guys from big cities who really haven’t seen open fields and stuff like this, so it was pretty cool driving in and seeing everybody in town kind of standing on the side of the roads with signs and cheering us on,” he said.

The made-for-TV event, delayed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, had the billing as the first Major League Baseball game in this state that’s usually focused on college and community sports, spotlighted by presidential campaigns and fueled by the hog and grain industry.

Judge provided a pair of picture-perfect images, launching two long drives into the cornstalks. Tim Anderson hit the eighth homer of the game, a two-run liner in the ninth inning that lifted the White Sox over the Yankees in a 9-8 thriller.

The Ghost Players and everyone else can get ready for more next year.

Yankees Vs Rays Prediction Today

The Yankees have a knack for crumbling against the Rays, but nothing seems to faze them right now. The lineup has been dominant. The starting pitching has mostly been excellent. The same can be said for the bullpen, even Aroldis Chapman!

Not to mention, McClanahan has been tagged for seven runs in two starts against the Yankees this season. Since its Tampa Bay, this will be a nail-biter, but were backing New York to stay hot and all but clinch their Wild Card berth.

Yankees 5, Rays 3.

Alternatives To Yes Network And Directv Stream

If you are situated in its broadcast area and want to access the YES Network while avoiding cable, you do not have any alternatives to subscribing to DIRECTV STREAM.

However, non-DIRECTV STREAM subscribers can still catch around 20 Yankees games a season through PIX11, which you can access through an antenna or an Amazon Prime subscription. Plus, that team is shown on Fox at least a few times a season. All Yankees World Series games will be broadcast on Fox as well.

Additionally, the Nets are sometimes shown on ABC on a national basis, NYCFC matches may be broadcast on ABC or Fox, and the Liberty may have games on ABC or CBS.

Now, if you would like to garner cordless access to these teams nationally broadcast games through a different streaming service, consider Hulu + Live TV , FuboTV , Vidgo , and Sling TV .

Meanwhile, those who are situated outside of their favorite teams blackout areas can watch out-of-market YES Network broadcasts through a subscription to:

The latter provides access to out-of-market NYCFC matches, out-of-market NHL games, and a significant number of other sporting events.

Both Teams Have Help Coming

The Blue Jays and Yankees will both activate pitchers off the injured list this series. Ryu, who has been out with a neck issue since Sept. 17, is scheduled to start Tuesday’s series opener. He struggled greatly prior to going on the injured list , so Toronto hopes the 10-day break sorts things out.

As for the Yankees, Taillon is returning from the injured list to start Tuesday’s game. He’s been sidelined with an ankle injury since Sept. 6. Taillon threw 51 pitches in a three-inning Triple-A rehab start last week and will likely be on a pitch limit. Also, ace reliever Jonathan Loáisiga may rejoin the Yankees this week. He’s been out since Sept. 3 with a sore shoulder.

“Hopefully, if everything goes well with , then he could potentially be active for the Blue Jays series,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters, including the New York Post‘s Greg Joyce, over the weekend. Loáisiga pitched to a 2.25 ERA in 68 innings and led all relievers with 3.1 WAR at the time of his injury.

In 2000, YankeeNets entered into a marketing agreement with the New York Giants this included awarding YES the exclusive rights to the NFL franchise’s magazine programs . Michael King Shines In Both Bullpen And Rotation

Jonathan Loáisiga was an absolute star for the Yankees in 2021, transforming into one of the very best relievers in Major League Baseball.

In 2022, Michael King will take the biggest leap forward among those in New York’s ‘pen .

When I spoke to King at the end of the regular season, checking in on his progress after a stint on the 60-day injured list with a freak injury, the 26-year-old was feeling great. He had moved on from his finger injury, was pitching well and even had an uptick in his velocity on the mound.

King finished the season with a 3.55 ERA over 22 games and 63.1 innings pitched. He ultimately fell short of his well-documented 100-inning goal, but is on pace to blow by that number in 2022. In fact, with the type of stuff that King has, and how much he loves the art of pitching, I think we’re going to see a monster season from the right-hander this year.

He’ll make a bunch of appearances in the rotation depending on the health of New York’s starters, but I see King flourishing in a versatile role out of the bullpen, pitching in high leverage spots while also providing length when needed.

Some of his numbers in 2021 were actually below average. He struggled to avoid hard hits and his xBA and xERA were both in the league’s 25th percentile. But when you consider how filthy King’s pitches are, with the type of spin he puts on the baseball and the wicked movement he produces, progress feels inevitable so long as he can stay healthy.

Yankees: The New York Yankees are proving all players ...

Since the network’s debut, YES has aired select telecasts of the Yankees’ minor league farm teams, primarily the Class-A Staten Island Yankees of the New YorkPenn League. Those games are produced by YES, utilizing the same graphics and announcers as seen during game telecasts of the major league Yankees.

From 2002 to 2006, YES also broadcast games from the Yankees’ former Class-AAA team, the Columbus Clippers of the International League. Those games were produced locally in Columbus, Ohio. After the 2006 season, the Yankees ended their affiliation with the Clippers, and became affiliated with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders . YES has only televised one RailRiders game, Masahiro Tanaka’s minor league rehab start, the team also has local coverage within its Scranton/Wilkes-Barre market.

The network has also broadcast various college sports events including football and basketball games from the Ivy League, basketball games from the Big 12 Conference and rebroadcasts of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football games. It also carries the coaches’ shows of Notre Dame and the Penn State Nittany Lions. In 2011, YES began airing live broadcasts of college basketball games involving the Fordham University. YES also airs college football and basketball games from the ACC on Regional Sports Networks produced by Raycom Sports and Bally Sports South.

List Of New York Yankees Broadcasters

As one of the most successful clubs in Major League Baseball, the New York Yankees are also one of its oldest teams. Part of that success derives to its radio and television broadcasts that have been running beginning in 1939 when the first radio transmissions were broadcast from the old stadium, and from 1947 when television broadcasts began. They have been one of the pioneer superstation broadcasts when WPIX became a national superstation in 1978 and were the first American League team to broadcast their games on cable, both first in 1978 and later on in 1979, when Sportschannel NY began broadcasting Yankees games to cable subscribers. Today, the team can be heard and/or seen in its gameday broadcasts during the baseball season on:

How Can Aaron Boone Motivate The Yankees Like Alex Cora

Not for nothing, but theres a clear and obvious parallel to the 2019 season with this current bunch, and were not sure why Boone isnt using their pathway to light a fire under this roster.

Is it too early to panic? Of course. But this team wont reverse course if the players continue to hear that hitting is hard instead of some motivational notes that might really strike a chord.

In 2019, the Yankees with much the same roster, albeit one decimated by injuries sat at 6-9 following a grimy loss to the Chicago White Sox. Giancarlo Stanton was out. Mike Tauchmans tenure was just beginning. Miguel Andujar had been hurt during the seasons first series. The injuries were piling up, which would continue all year long.

Still, though, that team won 103 games, mostly because every single player who showed up to fill a starters place wanted to be the most effective weapon he could be. Tauchman. DJ LeMahieu in Troy Tulowitzkis place. Cameron Maybin. Why not evoke the story of 2019 while trying to get this roster back on track?

Friendly reminder that the Yankees started 6-7 in 2018 and 5-8 in 2019. They won 100 and 103 games in those seasons

Talkin’ Yanks

How hard would it be for Boone to say, This team can follow in their footsteps, but they wont if they dont self-assess and push it to that extra gear. Nothing will change unless we stay hungry and act like someones always coming up behind you. Next Man Up, right?
