The Long Lines Move Quickly
If you do find yourself at the Times Square TKTS booth and the line is long, don’t be too discouraged because it moves quickly and that gives you time to decide which show you want tickets for. You’ll find a board up at the front that lists what shows are available that day. Discount tickets that are available at the booth are generally for Broadway shows on the wane, which are getting much lower audience attendance than in their heyday, but are still great theatre. Just don’t expect the most popular Broadway shows to be available — because if they can fill the seats at full price, there is no reason why they would sell them for half the value. Hit The Cancellation Line
While this seems like an obvious thing to point out, not everyone thinks about the seats at performances that go unclaimed. It’s worth lining up at the theater on the day to buy cancelled seats right before curtain-up. Of course, there’s no guarantee, but it’s worth a punt if you’ve got the time for it. Get to the theater a couple of hours early and keep those fingers crossed, as cancellation lines are first come, first served. Sometimes you’ll see touts lurking around outside and while they could potentially hold your ticket in, be wary of fakes and remember there won’t be any opportunity to get your money back.
Can I Get Broadway Tickets On The Day Returns Or Rush Tickets
If the show you desperately want to see is sold out, you can head to the theatre several hours before to see if there are any tickets available at the door. Some people may have returned their ticket if they are unable to make the show, meaning a small handful may be available at the box office.
If a show hasnt sold out then the theatre may also have RUSH tickets , these can sell for around $25. Theatres open around noon on most days so aim for 11.45am!
