The city where dreams are made, the city where you dreamed of moving to as a teenager, the Big Apple. The simple words New York create many different thoughts and images in your mind.

Each time I have visited New York City it has blown my mind, it is chaotic, it is busy but it has a magic I just cannot put my finger on. It is a city I know I will explore multiple more times in my lifetime and still always find something new. Usually, I spend 4 days in New York, I find it a great amount of time to get used to the city without beginning to feel overwhelmed.

Four days will give you enough time to see the main tourist spots if it is your first time visiting New York or if it is a repeat visit a good amount of time to get your bearings and start exploring new areas such as Brooklyn.

    Best Accommodations In Town

We personally stayed in two different neighbourhoods TriBeCa and Midtown West and both are great options. TriBeCa feels a little more local, and has good access to the southern tip of Manhattan, while Midtown West is more central located on the west side of the island.

Best Hostel in Manhattan Jazz on Columbus Circle

Staying downtown in Manhattan is always going to be expensive, but if youre in a budget and still want to be in the heart of everything, then the absolute best hostel in town is Jazz on Columbus Circle.

Its a small, boutique hostel and has been renovated to have modern amenities throughout. It has a funky vibe with some awesome decor, and the dorms are small with between 3-6 beds.

Best Mid-Range Hotel Pod 51 Hotel

High-quality accommodation in New York City is not cheap, but the closest balance you can get between affordability and quality is at Pod 51 Hotel.

The rooms are no-frills, but clean, bright and more spacious than you might expect. The location is great, theres fast wifi and an amazing rooftop garden to enjoy.

Best Luxury Hotel in Manhattan Hotel Giraffe by Library Collection

This is it the top of the cream for hotels in New York that you can still get for well under $1000 a night.

The Library Collection has some of the best hotels all around the city, but our favourite is Hotel Giraffe. Youll be treated like a king or queen here!

    Start Your Days Early

As you can tell from this NYC itinerary, your days are jam-packed, so make sure you start every day as early as possible to make the most of your 3 days in New York City.

This can of course be hard if youre planning on hitting up some of the hundreds of awesome bars, clubs and speakeasies that the city is known for. But its worth laying off the expensive drinks if you have a limited time in town.

Where To Eat Cheap In New York City And Feel Comfortable Solo

  • Go to Arturos’s for a slice and some jazz. A New York City institution in the West Village, they’ve had a wood-burning oven and nightly jazz since forever. They also offer a wide choice of Italian food and gluten-free options. I had the arugula salad with shaved parmesan and a 13 pizza that I could only eat 1/3 of. The service is great. Eating at the bar, which is really social, is an option here.
  • . Located on Bleecker Street in the village and six other New York City locations is By Chloe. Their bakery is next door. Healthy and yummy! They also take good care of gluten-free patrons. A casual;atmosphere and a large communal table make By Chloe great for solo travelers.
  • A little bar called;George Keeley. Located;at Amsterdam and;83rd;it offers local beers and exceptionally good everything bagel fries. Grace went here after her run.;See Graces Nerdy New York City Adventure.
  • Eat at a food truck. Food trucks can be a big part of a budget New York City;experience but where to find them? Food trucks are always on the move. Here’s a site that will tell you where and when the most popular food trucks are in NYC.
  • Free pizza. The Alligator Lounge offers free pizza with the purchase of a drink every day of the week along with karaoke, trivia, comedy, or whatever’s going the night you’re there.
  • Where To Stay In New York

Every time I have visited New York I have stayed in the;Hotel Penn. It is less than a ten-minute walk to Times Square yet still affordable. The rooms are comfy and very spacious giving you a relaxing space for your 4 days in New York.

The average price for a private room for 2 in the Hotel Penn is £105 per night with breakfast included.

    For 4 nights accommodation in New York, you can expect to pay £420 for two / £210 per person this is for a centrally located hotel close to Times Square.;;

If you are looking to travel on a tighter budget,; I wanted to highlight a fewer of the more cost-efficient options.; If you are okay with hostels there is The Local Hostel; situated just outside of the main area in Queens but still a short metro ride away from the main attractions.

Prefer to stay in a hotel? Try the;Pod 51 for a budget hotel in New York, alternatively, Air BnB is available across the whole of central New York and Brooklyn.

Days In New York How Much Spending Money For Food

The food available in New York is incredible, so ensure you allow a budget for this, but remember the portion sizes are BIG, two main meals a day is probably sufficient.

Like most tourist cities, the closer you eat to the main attractions the more it will cost you. Therefore, in the big restaurants around Times Square, a sit-down two-course dinner for two will easily set you back around £75 for two.;Be aware it is also expected to tip around 15-20% on top of your bill.

Thankfully, food is a big way you can save money during your 4 days in New York. Simple ways to do this include eating outside of the tourist areas , make use of the street food carts around plotted around the city for low-cost alternatives and be sure to check out the NY Eater cheap eats map;to find the spots the locals love.

Alternately, if you are looking to get a photo of the iconic New York skyline without the high ticket costs, visit one of the rooftop bars and only pay the price of the drink, I recommend the bar;230 Fifth bar ;as it includes the Empire State Building as part of its view.

I would allocate around £200 per person for food spending money in New York.;This is based on having two meals per day, with at least one of these being in a sit-down restaurant.

Trip To Rochester Cost Final Thoughts

USA Travel: How Expensive Is NEW YORK CITY?

For a weekend trip for two people, we spent approximately $775 total.

Aside from our accommodation, dining out was our most significant expense, but it was still affordable.

For our first time in Rochester, we felt like we got a great sense of what the city has to offer. Rochester is booming with new restaurants, wineries, and breweries. We left wanting more which is always a great thing! Theres still so much that we did not get to do.

Overall, Rochester is a perfect travel destination for couples, mother-daughter, or just the girls. Its a great midsize city to socialize, enjoy a drink, try all sorts of food, and experience a variety of different cultures and activities. We had an incredible experience visiting Rochester, and I cannot wait to bring my husband next time. And if you plan to visit Rochester with kids, this article has you covered.

You can get around much of the island on mopeds, golf carts, bicycles, or even by foot. But if you arent keen on being slowed down or not having a set of wheels, youll need a rental car in Hawaii.

Expect to pay around $50 per day for rental cars. But dont forget to budget for parking fees as well! Almost every Hawaiian island has parking fees and the price varies from $20-$45 per day.

We came at New York pretty much blind, Id done almost no research on what to do nor where to go. All we had organised was a 4-night stay in a Holiday Inn not far from Times Square. Times Square sounds like a good place to stay, right? Check current prices on;our bargain Times Square hotel here, there was plenty of room for our family and the location was good. It was about the cheapest place we could find and it was the most expensive place wed ever stayed. New York is not cheap! That was pretty exciting for us, my kids had never seen snow and ice and they mostly loved the new experience.
