Taughannock Falls State Park
Taughannock Falls State Park is a natural attraction centered around the waterfall of the same name. Taughannock Falls is an impressive 215-foot-tall waterfall viewable from hiking trails through the gorge and around the rim. Cayuga Lake is also part of the park and features a full-service marina with boat launches and a beach nearby.
The parks trails are popular for hiking in the summer and can be used for cross-country skiing in the colder months. The trails pass many natural skating ponds and sledding slopes for added winter fun. Campsites and cabins are available for overnight rentals.

Being the financial heart of New York City, its easy to assume that Wall Street is just stockbrokers and traders! That being said, mixing both the area around Wall Street and Tribeca, means youll get to experience one of the best areas of New York during your visit.
Once here, make sure to explore the Federal Hall in all its historic glory. Interestingly, this was actually the place that George Washington was sworn in as the very first president of the United States! It totally gives an insight into the birth of the American nation.
Plus, always make sure to visit Battery Park if youre already at the tip of Manhattan. It played a vital role in being the first immigrant depot for people arriving at the newly founded republic. Also, its also a perfect place to jump on one of the ferries to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, too.
For a great place to stay, check into the Roxy. We stayed here on our last visit to New York and totally loved it. Theyve also got the coolest jazz club in their basement and its a great place to spend an evening.

The Staten Island, or South Street, ferry is a great way to get a sweet look at Downtown Manhattan, and even a nice peak at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The ferry takes about 25 minutes each way, and costs you the price of a Metro Card swipe. So, basically, the South Street Ferry is the most budget friendly way to watch great views of southern Manhattan. As such we think its one of the main attractions in New York City for those traveling on a budget.
If you want to do a full on tour of Liberty Island and Ellis Island you will have to commit to taking a much longer trip on the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Ferry. Tickets for this amazing trip costs around $24.50 for adults, and is totally worth it, especially if you have the time and the weather is nice.

During the height of the pandemic, when we were really only meant to leave our apartments for the essentials , I found my salvation in running to different neighborhoods around Brooklyn. This small park at the tip of Red Hook was an amazing place to feel the sun and sea breeze on my skin, smell the ocean, and feel a little bit removed from, well, everything. Now, it’s still a favorite spot to spend an afternoon. Get some picnicking essentials from nearby neighborhood favorites a bottle of wine from Red Hook Winery, a sandwich from Court Street Grocers , dessert from Steves Authentic Key Lime Pies and watch the sun set behind the Statue of Liberty with the Manhattan skyline twinkling in the distance.
