What Insurance Is Required For Plumbers In New York:

Even in case of extremely skilled and responsible plumbers, things may go wrong. Plumbers find themselves in messy and complicated situations when they are at the receiving end of a liability claim. Given the risk factors which may arise at work, plumbers if uninsured, may be putting themselves, their business and their assets at risk. This is why all plumbers, regardless of the size of their business could consider having insurance coverage.

A general contractor must have a New York Plumbing Insurance if they wish to work with other plumbers or even hire other plumbers under them. This type of insurance protects businesses from lawsuits with rates as low as $37 per month. Depending on the size of business and the nature of risks they are exposed to, plumbers can choose from the multiple structures available under this insurance. There is one basic plan that combines multiple coverages and is known as the Business Owners Policy. It covers income loss in case of an unprecedented halt in work, damage to property and equipment, and general liability that handles claims of damages and injuries while at work.

Unless one works for a company that covers insurance within its employee policies, plumbers must have a plumbing insurance. The minimum requirements include:

  • General Liability Insurance
  • Property Damage Insurance

There are a few types of insurances that are more extensive in nature and could be considered by plumbers, though they are not required:

Wanna Make $65 an Hour? Become a Blue Collar Apprentice

Hello all! I am not trying to become an electrician but a friend of mine is.

He’s a 17 y/o in nyc who is graduating from a good private school next june and wants to stay in the city for school and work. He doesn’t have a reddit so I used my account to help him by asking some of you. If you could give some advice, I will pass it on to him and it would be greatly appreciated.

He’s expressed to me that he doesn’t want to go on the traditional route to collage. Instead, he wants to go into the trades. The problem is he doesn’t really know how to start. The councilors don’t really talk about trade school and trade jobs so he needs help with how to begin a career as an electrician.

Does anyone know whether or not he needs to go to trade school? If he does, name any good ones? Where could he get an apprenticeship? And how long is it to become an electrician if he starts now? Is being an electrician a good job choice?

Thank you very much.

Edit: Thank you to everyone who answered! I checked the website and am sending him the info. My boyfriend says thank you too!
