The New York Islanders can look forward to dropping the puck next season at the UBS Arena, located at Belmont Park in Elmont, as completion of the $1.1 billion venue is on track to open as planned for the Islanders 2021-2022 NHL season.

The 19,000-seat state-of-the-art venue, developed in partnership with Oak View Group , the New York Islanders and Sterling Project Development , will also be a world-class home for the more than 150 concerts and festivals the arena plans to host every year.

Michael Sciortino, UBS Arena senior vice president of arena operations and assistant general manager, is experienced in handling the operations at the facility. Now add an eight-game road trip from April 1st vs Rangers to April 17 vs. Toronto to the growing list of complications this schedule presents the Islanders. Eight-game road trips aren’t very common. The run to the end of the season is going to be tough for the Islanders.

And I don’t know if you’ve heard this before, but the Islanders are the oldest team in the NHL. So that grueling schedule I just talked about carries extra weight on those aging bones.

Making things worse is the Islanders remaining schedule is one of the toughest in the league. According to Tankathon, the Isles have the eighth toughest schedule ahead of them.
