The New York International Auto Show is an annual auto show that is held in Manhattan in late March or early April. It is held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. It usually opens on or just before Easter weekend and closes on the first Sunday after Easter. In 2018, the NYIAS took place from March 30 through April 8.

The show has been held annually since 1900. It was the first automotive exhibition in North America.

The show was held at the New York Coliseum from 1956 to 1987 when the show moved to the Javits Center.

Before the show opens every year, several auto companies debut new production and concept vehicles for the press. In addition, the Greater New York Auto Dealers Association and the International Motor Press Association host corporate meetings and events.

In addition to individual programs during the show, there are automobile related conferences, forums, symposiums, and other gatherings. The ten day event contribution to economy of the City and State is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

While many automakers no longer bother with dazzling concept cars, Volkswagen is delivering big, fun ideas with its battery-powered I.D. Buggy Concept. The retro-futuristic design, shown in neon green, recalls a 1960s California dune buggy, complete with no roof, no doors but it does have weatherproof seats and even water drains. A 62.0-kWh battery pack gives the rear-wheel-drive machine 155 miles of electric range. And its customizable: You can add extra seats and even switch out the body. Who knows if the beach buggy will ever make it to production, but its sure fun to imagine especially since VWs in the last year of making its iconic Beetle.

New York International Auto Show Rescheduled For Spring 2022

The New York International Auto Show, an annual automobile show, which had been scheduled to open to the public, 20-29 August, has been cancelled due to concerns about the Covid-19 Delta variant. New York will soon require proof of vaccination for indoor dining, gyms, entertainment and performances, announced, 3 August.

The Auto Show organisers said: “It is with great disappointment that the upcoming 2021 New York International Automobile Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center has been cancelled due to the growing incidences of the Covid-19 Delta variant and the increased measures announced recently by state and local officials to stop its spread.

The event, founded in 1900, typically draws more than 1m attendees each year. Each year, attendees spend an average of almost five hours at the exhibition, with nearly 72% of those visitors indicating that they are in the market to purchase a vehicle over the next 12 months.

The organisers now say that the next New York Auto Show will be in spring 2022. The show was also cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic after initially being rescheduled for August.

The Chicago Auto Show, which normally vies for New York’s in attendance, recently finished its own rescheduled show. Normally held in February, the show ran 15-19 July. That show hosted 100,000 attendees, a fraction of the more than 1 million that normally attend.

2016 New York International Auto Show Grand Finale ...

Show organizers pulled the plug due to the increased spread of the COVID-19 delta variant.

Who knows when the Javits Center will look like this again.

The 2021 New York Auto Show has been canceled once again, event organizers confirmed Wednesday. The show was scheduled to open to media on Aug. 19.

Mark Schienberg, president of the New York Auto Show, issued a statement saying the cancellation is due to “the growing incidences of the COVID-19 delta variant and the increased measures announced recently by state and local officials to stop its spread.”

Last year, the 2020 New York Auto Show was initially postponed and later canceled due to the ongoing pandemic. Schienberg said the event will now go back to its usual spring schedule and will take place in April 2022.

With only weeks until the 2021 New York Auto Show was expected to kick off, a number of big debuts had already been confirmed. Nissan was planning to show the new Z sports car in New York, and Subaru was slated to reveal the 2022 WRX sedan. We expect those vehicles — and more — to still debut on schedule, though as you can imagine, everything is sort of up in the air right now.

New York Auto Show Moved To Late August Over Coronavirus

The show, where numerous cars were to make world debuts, was to be held in early April.

  • The organizers of the New York auto show have announced they’re moving the annual mega-event to late August from early April.
  • The reason, of course, is coronavirus, which has spread into New York State in the past week.
  • Among the companies scheduling major new-model debuts were Ford, Infiniti, and EV maker Lucid.

Organizers have rescheduled the New York International Auto Show to begin August 26 rather than in early April, citing coronavirus concerns. The New York show, a 120-year-old tradition, joins Geneva and Beijing as a major auto show felled by the epidemic.

In a statement, Mark Schienberg, president of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, said: “We are taking this extraordinary step to help protect our attendees, exhibitors, and all participants from the coronavirus.”

The New York show is the latest in a long list of high-profile events being canceled or rescheduled due to the outbreak. New York and other states are recommending that large events be delayed to reduce the chance or spreading the virus that has already infected over 100,000 individuals worldwide.

The New York auto show press days will be August 26 and 27, and the public show will be August 28 through September 6, organizers said.

Today, the event boasts record numbers of new vehicle announcements, incredible attendance, and massive media attention. Feeding off New York Citys energy, the Show is one of the most important automotive events in the world.

10-Day Auto Consumer Extravaganza

As show time approaches, the buzz can be felt all over metro New York with television, newspaper and radio editorial coverage and advertising reaching fever pitch. And with nearly 1,000 vehicles on display and packed full of fun activities to excite and interest the whole family, its no wonder.

With hundreds of booths showcasing the worlds finest cars and trucks, the Show proudly offers consumers a look at the latest automotive technology, concept cars, exotic cars and debut vehicles, all under one roof.

The Reshuffling Of Auto Shows Continues

The game of auto show musical chairs continues. The New York Auto Show is once again delayed, with the new date now set for late August 2021. The show was originally slated for April of this year, then postponed to August and ultimately canceled for 2020. It was rescheduled for April 2021 and now it’s pushed back again, with a public opening slated for August 20, 2021. The event opens to the press on August 19.

The global coronavirus pandemic is the reason behind the show’s continual delays, though this latest decision isn’t entirely driven by COVID-19. According to Automotive News, moving the event to August allows show organizers to use a newly expanded Jacob Javits Center with 100,000 square feet of additional space for exhibits. The Javits Center is located in New York City and has hosted the annual show since 1987.

The 2021 New York International Auto Show Is Canceled

The 2021 New York Auto Show has been canceled. Much like last year, organizers postponed the annual spring event to August to try and avoid the worst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, they say now their hand has been forced due to a growing number of hospital cases involving the COVID-19 delta variant and increasingly stringent measures put in place by state and local officials to curb its spread.

Breaking: New York auto show canceled

davidshepardson

As custodians of the 121-year-old New York Auto Show, we are committed to providing a safe environment for everyone including attendees, exhibitors, and the thousands of men and women who put the show together, said Mark Schienberg, the president of the New York Auto Show. Over the past few weeks, and especially within the last few days, circumstances have changed making it more difficult to create an event at the high standard that we and our clients expect.

At the moment, its unclear what this cancelation will mean for vehicles like the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that were set to debut at the show. Organizers say they firmly believe the event will only return in 2022 but do so during its usual spring timeframe.

Buffalo Auto Show Returns To Buffalo Niagara Convention Center

BUFFALO, N.Y. When the Buffalo Auto Show was forced to hold off on its 2021 show due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers and dealers alike were hurting.

Welcome to Buffalo Auto Month! As we navigate this unprecedented time, we’ve postponed the physical auto show here in Buffalo but, in the meantime, we have some great things from the manufacturers to show you on our website.

“All of our hopes and dreams were dashed in an instant. We work to show off these amazing cars, and put them into people’s hands, and that didn’t happen,” said Paul Stasiak, the President of the Niagara Frontier Auto Dealers and the organizer of the Buffalo Auto Show.

The show typically features more than 250 “ready-to-buy” cars, and representatives from dealerships all across Western New York to help you find the car you need.

“It’s always been a one-stop-shop for cars,” said Stasiak.

This year, the show will go on – but not without setbacks. The pandemic-induced “chip shortage,” which has caused massive supply-chain shortages of cars in the United States, has made it tough to secure cars.

According to a report by CNBC, the global chip shortage has caused a loss about $220 billion dollars to the auto industry in 2021 alone.

“The shortage, has made all of our lives tougher. Most manufactures will not be able to bring as many cars as they normally would, they just don’t have them,” said Stasiak.

Dodge Demon Breaks Free At New York Auto Show

Dodge and GPJ go outside the confines of the NY Auto Show to launch the fastest street legal, production drag car in the world

Pre-programmed lighting, video and audio enabled restrictive load in time

Celebrity guests included Vin Diesel and Wiz Khalifa

500 onsite and 55k online participated

600k views of the launch within 12hrs of the event

Dodge is a legacy brand that does things on its own terms, so its no surprise that when they launched the new Challenger Demon during the New York Auto Show, they stepped outside of the confines of the convention center to create an experience like no other.

With a relationship that spans 7 decades, GPJ knows the Dodge brand, and was the perfect partner to provide everything needed for an explosive off site and live online launch that would be the talk of the automotive show and industry.

Setting the Scene

Pier 92/94 on the Hudson River was transformed to stage the launch, complete with a custom drag strip and pyrotechnics, massive LED screens, hero cars from the Fast and the Furious movies, food and beverage service and a DJ booth.

Oh, and one little kink, our live production team had 18 hours to load in and be ready to go. For some teams, this would be impossible, but not ours. Instead, all of the lighting, audio and video was pre-programmed, which was the only way to pull off a production of this complexity with such little time.
