Most people stay on the island of Manhattan. Its where most of the most popular attractions are and most hotels are situated here. You dont need to stay in Manhattan, Lots of People dont. But its where most of this article will relate to. We have covered the Other Boroughs Below, but for most first-time visitors, Manhattan is the place to be. Staying outside of Manhattan means daily commuting to get to the big city, and who wants to commute on your vacation!
Obviously, Manhattan is far too large to not break it down into districts. These are not listed in order of Preference more in order of popularity. Its important to read the pros and cons and see what suits you. One persons perfect is another persons Hell.
Cheap Accommodation In New Jersey
New Jersey is another state, but is located right across from Manhattan on the other side of the Hudson River.
Jersey City is right across from Manhattan and especially the hotels right at the water habe a beautiful view of the Manhattan Skyline. However, the hotel prices are not cheaper than in Manhattan, simply because you can get there pretty fast by subway.
If you really want to save money, you should look at the hotels in Newark. They dont offer a view on Manhattan, since Newark is located a little further outside, but a good room costs between 100 and 150 euros.
You should definitely book a hotel close to the Newark Penn Station. With the red PATH Train Line you will need 22 minutes to the World Trade Center. A one way ticket costs $ 2,75 .

Where To Stay For Cheap: Times Square
The crossroads of the universe may be the last place local New Yorkers plan to spend their free time , but this busy, bright intersection is popular with commuters on weekdays and tourists at pretty much any time. With a subway station that offers easy connections to nearly every train line, Times Square is also a central spot to stay if youll be hopping around town and want to save on cab fare youll never be more than a few blocks away from public transit.

If upscale shopping is your thing, then youll also be very happy here.

Best Neighborhood In Brooklyn: Williamsburg
Williamsburg in Brooklyn is hipster central. Its home to offbeat restaurants, bars, clothing stores, and coffee shops, and an Im cool because Im different attitude. Youll find lots of flannel and beards here! Its not as hipster as it used to be thanks to all the Manhattanites who came for cheaper rents but I really enjoy this area because its close to Manhattan, cheap, and filled with fun bars , top-rated restaurants, incredible bars, art, wonderful markets , and music shows. I spend a lot of weekends here.

- BUDGET: International Students Residence Dont let the name fool you, this hostel isnt just for students. Its a budget-friendly place to stay with free Wi-Fi, comfortable and clean beds, kitchens to cook in, and an awesome common area.
- MID-RANGE: Pointe Plaza Hotel A luxury hotel but with budget prices, this place has spacious suites and oversized rooms with friendly staff.
- LUXURY: Wythe Hotel The Wythe is a refurbished waterfront factory with brick exposed rooms that have heated floors. Theres a rooftop bar with a great view of Manhattan as well. Its the best place to stay in the area if you want to splurge.

What to do there: Take a tour of the Rockefeller Centre, learning all about the interesting art and history as you explore the main buildings, squares, and gardens. Soak up stunning city vistas from the Top of the Rock Observation Deck and descend underground to the Concourse for some high-class shopping. The underground passageways connect all of the complexs buildings and there are many well-known brands to peruse as well as myriad places to eat and drink.
Enjoy a sense of tranquillity in the pretty Channel Gardens and look out for superb art installations around the centre. Theres a large mural in the lobby of 30 Rockefeller Plaza that depicts Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, and Ralph Waldo Emerson, a huge metal relief over the entrance to 50 Rockefeller Plaza, a statue of Atlas facing Fifth Avenue, and a golden statue of Prometheus in the sunken plaza. Coney Island was once the best places to go in New York for young couples and families, it still holds some charm.

Open since 2009, the High Line sits on an old 1.4-mile-long section of track in Manhattan. Theres lots of lush greenery and the elevated position offers terrific views over the surrounding areas.
A masterpiece of modern urban architecture, the park has brought a whole new lease of life to the area, helping to raise property prices, providing a place for locals and visitors to relax and enjoy being outdoors, and helping to instil a sense of local pride in nearby residents. There are various things to see and do in the park and it has featured in several TV shows and films.
What to do there: Walk along the elevated park and admire the views of the Hudson River and the cityscape, and pause to relax at one of the benches as you enjoy the vistas. Your stroll will lead you through different gardens, including the enchanting Diller von Furstenberg Sundeck, complete with its enticing water feature that is great for a quick paddle to cool down on a warm summers day.

Long Island City We had a great time exploring this posh middle class estate that is known for its beautiful waterfront parks, upscale high-rise apartments, trendy bars and eateries, and burgeoning arts scene. A good hotel here is the Home2 Suites by Hilton New York Long Island City/ Manhattan View, which offers abundantly spacious rooms with a fully-equipped kitchen. There is even a microwave and full-sized refrigerator! Service is great and the vicinity around the hotel is very safe too. It is conveniently located beside the 39 Avenue Station, and is just a 20-minute subway ride from Times Square. The hotel price is quite reasonable considering its quality.
East Village A Great Place To Visit In New York At Night

Best Peaceful Location For Tourist Attractions: Bryant Park
This is a beautiful small park that is just a five minute walk away from Times Square. In winter, it transforms into a pretty ice-skating rink.
