Restrictions Have Been Lifted In Montana
Montana’s state of emergency expired at the end of June. Gov. Greg Gianforte on May 10 signed legislation effectively invalidating local mask mandates and other virus-related public health measures that counties and cities have adopted in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Gianforte on Feb. 12 lifted the statewide mask mandate put in place by his predecessor Steve Bullock. He removed health mandates issued by Bullock on Jan. 15, saying the restrictions are harmful to the state’s businesses.

Covid-19 testing is widely available throughout New York City. A number of resources can assist in scheduling PCR or rapid-antigen tests, which usually need to be conducted within a 72-hour window prior to travel :

Restrictions Lifted In Wyoming
Statewide public health orders ended in late May. Moving forward specific protocols for K-12 schools during the pandemic will be determined at the district level. Public health restrictions on indoor gatherings of more than 500 people were lifted. Gov. Mark Gordon lifted Wyoming’s mask mandate March 16, and resumed “normal operations” for bars, restaurants, theaters and gyms.

Restrictions Lifted In Massachusetts
Gov. Charlie Baker on July 30 recommended fully vaccinated Massachusetts residents wear masks in certain public indoor settings, but did not institute a new mask mandate. The state had dropped its mask mandate and all remaining coronavirus restrictions May 29. Baker on May 25 filed legislation to extend certain emergency measures currently in place via executive orders, which expired June 15.

‘we Need Bold Action’
Nationwide, forecasters are predicting a sharp contraction in coming months, as businesses grapple with a slowdown by shedding workers. These laid-off workers are likely to then reduce their spending, which is the main driver of the US economy.
In a note on Monday, analysts at IHS Markit said the US economy will shrink 0.2% in 2020. But such outlooks are updated frequently. Already others are predicting worse.
“This is hopefully a temporary situation but we need bold action,” said Mr Stringer. “New York’s economy impacts not just us but the national and international economy… It’s in everybody’s interest to watch what’s happening here.”
Yasser Kamel, whose family has run the popular Sam’s Falafel food truck in Zuccotti Park since 1990, said business is as bad as he’s ever seen it. Normally, three people man the cart, which is rarely without a queue. On Monday, it was just him, for a handful of customers.
Mr Kamel said he will likely stay home tomorrow, rather than waste money preparing food that doesn’t get purchased.
“I’m not scared about the disease … but for the business, it’s a really really big thing,” he said. “The situation is serious and … it’s more than one family that will be trouble.”

Restrictions Lifted In South Carolina
South Carolina is one of five states being investigated by the U.S. Department of Education over indoor masking bans and the possibility those bans discriminate against students with disabilities. Gov. Henry McMaster lifted South Carolina’s state of emergency June 7. On May 11, McMaster issued an Executive Order lifting local mask mandates and banning schools and local governments from instituting them in the future. Capacity restrictions at various businesses and public spaces were eased March 26, and starting March 1, limits on mass gatherings were lifted.

Implementation In Hasidic Communities
Implementing social distancing has been difficult in some communities dominated by Hasidic Jews. On March 19, 2020, the Orange County village of Kiryas Joel, home to 25,000 Satmar Hasidim, closed all 100 of its synagogues, as well as schools and mikvot, despite the centrality of religious observance in the community. It was estimated that 2528 percent of its residents had tested positive, including the community’s 73-year-old spiritual leader, Grand Rebbe Aaron Teitelbaum. On March 27, the county reported that Kiryas Joel, within the town of Palm Tree, had 234 confirmed cases, the most of any municipality in the county.
Some reports suggested that the Hasidic community has generally been slow to implement measures designed to slow the spread of the virus. This reportedly led to one antisemitic incident. On March 23, a car dealership near Kiryas Joel refused to service a resident’s car, telling him he had the virus.
On October 12, Hasidic activist and City Council candidate Heshy Tischler was arrested for inciting a riot and unlawful imprisonment. Hundreds marched through the neighborhood of Borough Park, burning masks, chanting “Jewish Lives Matter” and attacking passersby.

Restrictions Lifted In Oklahoma
Gov. Kevin Stitt on May 28 issued an executive order banning state agencies from implementing mask mandates or vaccine requirements for people entering their buildings. Oklahoma’s COVID-19 state of emergency came to an end May 3. On March 12, the following restrictions were eliminated: limits on public gatherings, attendance limits at indoor sporting events and a mandate that state employees working and visitors to state buildings wear masks.

At The Same Time Foot Traffic Has Picked Up As Well
On any given day, pre-pandemic, Times Square had 380,000 tourists. Typically, it was very difficult to walk through Times Square because it was so crowded. You’re often bumping shoulders with strangers and getting lost in a crowd.
Although that’s not the case today, there are more people in Times Square than last March.

Restrictions Lifted In Delaware
In response to rising coronavirus case and hospitalization levels throughout the state, hospital systems in Delaware are implementing stricter visitation policies. Gov. John Carney issued a statewide school mask mandate in August, that covers students and staff in public and private schools. Effective May 21, capacity restrictions at Delaware restaurants, stores, places of worship and other businesses were lifted, enabling them to host as many people as they can fit under the state’s social distancing requirement.

Gov Cuomo Says He Will Extend New York Lockdown For ‘many Parts Of The State’ Beyond May 15 As New Antibody Study Of 7500 People Shows Nearly 25% Of People In New York City Tested Positive
- Gov Andrew Cuomo said on Monday he would be extending the lockdown for some parts of the state
- It is likely he was talking about New York City where more than 150,000 people have been infected and more than 11,000 have died

Shortage Of Protective Gear And Medical Equipment
After trying to purchase 200,000 N95 masks on February 7, 2020, the Office of Emergency Management learned that vendors were out of stock. Emergency provisions of masks and hand sanitizers did not arrive until early March. One medical supply vendor with standing city contracts said that the initial requests for protective gear from the Department of Citywide Administrative Services were bogged down by inefficient bureaucratic delays. One vendor said, “We’d send them a list of products we can deliver within 24, 48 hours,” but on average it took 72 hours for the agency to place an order. He added “the city just moves so slow” when there was very high demand coming from hospitals and the private sector. According to the contractor, eight out of 10 supply orders could not be filled because DCAS did not pay on time, which a spokeswoman for New York City denied. The office of the comptroller approved 12 contracts with a total value of $150 million before the mayor’s office took over the process on March 16. Mayor de Blasio said that the city might run out of supplies by April if the federal government did not send 3 million N95 masks, 50 million surgical masks, 15,000 ventilators, and 45 million surgical gowns, gloves, and face shields.
Restrictions Tighten In Oregon
Masks are required in most public outdoor settings as of Aug. 27, regardless of a person’s vaccination status. Weeks ago, Gov. Kate Brown had institued a mask mandate for inddor spaces, which started Aug. 13. Oregon had previously lifted mask mandates, social distancing and other restrictions June 30.

Essential Workers And Their Families
According to Newman, the interviews revealed that many of New York City’s newest Covid-19 patients are essential workers.
Sylvie De Souza, chief of the ED at Brooklyn Hospital Center, said, “The majority of people, it’s health care workers, it’s workers, it’s postal workers. As opposed to before, it seemed to be people out in the community, and of course a lot of the nursing home patients.”
Javier Valdés, a co-founder of the immigrant advocacy group Make the Road New York, similarly said the Covid-19 patients his organization has been hearing about in recent weeks are “getting sick because they’re still out there workingconstruction, delivery men. It’s mostly men.”
Michael Pappas, a family medicine resident at Mount Sinai Hospital, said he believes some essential workers contracted the new coronavirus while at work and then transmitted the virus to people in their homes.
“I suspect you have patients whose family members may be deemed essential workers, but they are younger and healthier,” he said. “So they go out, work, maybe are exposed or get the virus, but general asymptomatic , then those same essential workers come home and expose an at-risk loved one living with them.”
Restrictions Lifted In Illinois
A new statewide indoor mask mandate went into effect Aug. 29, and beginning Sept. 5, Pritzker said he would use his executive authority to require all workers in K-12 schools, all workers in private and public hospitals, nursing homes and other health care settings, and all workers and students in colleges and universities, to get vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit to weekly testing. Illinois had entered Phase 5 of reopening June 11, which removed all remaining capacity limits and restrictions on all sectors of the economy.

Restrictions Lifted In California
As of July 28, California recommends all individuals wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status. Unvaccinated individuals are required to wear a mask in all indoor public spaces. On June 15, California retired the color-coded tier system that since 2020 has set occupancy limits at businesses and imposed other rules aimed at slowing the spread of coronavirus. Most businesses are allowed to resume normal operations and the state’s mask mandate was lifted for vaccinated individuals.

On July 29, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that Washington D.C. will require masks indoors for everyone regardless of vaccination status. Capacity restrictions on most indoor activities were lifted May 21, including restaurants, schools and offices. Bars, nightclubs and entertainment venue restrictions were removed June 11. These had been the last remaining restrictions in the District.

As Lockdown Slowly Lifts In New York The New Normal Is Profoundly Unsettling
Theres no cause for celebration because the citys people are still trying to process the horror of the last three months
We woke up on Tuesday to the sound of drilling, something not heard in New York for three months. The streets are still on the empty side, and everyone is wearing masks, but as the lockdown eased this week most shops remained closed, but construction sites reopened the city entered a new phase. It should have been hopeful last week, New York reported its first day with no deaths from the virus since 11 March. Instead, the slight relaxation of rules brought home how far things still are from normality.
There will be anatomies of how we changed during lockdown and whether any of the long-term predictions came to pass. In the short term, however, the experience of re-engaging with the city felt as uncomfortable as blood returning to a deadened limb. At the height of the virus, the sense of urgency ushered in an alternative reality that suspended the need to think much beyond the next day. Now, with no school until September and the temperate nudging towards 90F this week, there was a feeling of burnout. Everyone talks about the new normal, and here it was: anticipating a second wave, while trying to process what happened during the first.

New York State To Ease Virus Lockdown But Not Big Apple
Some areas of New Yorkthe state worst affected by America’s coronavirus outbreakwill be allowed to gradually reopen later this week, but New York City will stay closed until at least June, leaders said Monday.
COVID-19 has killed around 22,000 people in New York state, which has been shut down since Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered all non-essential businesses ordered closed on March 22.
He said three regions had met criteriaincluding on declining death rates, hospital beds and testing capacityto restart construction, manufacturing and curbside retail when the order expires Friday.
“We start a new chapter today,” Cuomo told reporters, adding, “It’s an exciting new phase, we’re all anxious to get back to work.”
However, New York City, the epicenter of America’s epidemic, will not be able to start getting its economy up and running again this month, Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters.
He said data on deaths and hospitalizations was “definitely trending in the right direction” but needed to fall further before Big Apple residents could get back to work.
“We need to see it sustained in a deeper way. Right now, that takes us into June,” de Blasio said.
The epidemic is in sharp decline in New York state, where Cuomo said 161 people had died in the past 24 hours, down from the single day high of 799 in early April.
Cuomo also announced that from Friday low-risk recreational activities such as tennis and drive-in cinemas would be permitted statewide.
