The Best Places To Stay In New York City
There are about a million places to stay in New York City, but youll want to be sure to choose the best spot for you and your family. We love staying near Times Square as its very central between uptown, downtown, and midtown. Youre just a quick New York subway ride away from all the amazing things to do in Manhattan.
We love staying at The Algonquin Hotel, which is one of the oldest hotels in New York City with an incredible literary history. I think its one of the best hotels in New York City if you love staying somewhere with old charm and character.
The hotel even comes with its own cat, Hamlet, who is the 13th Algonquin Cat! He hangs out in the lobby greeting guests and is the sweetest cat ever and even has his own My daughter spent about an hour just giving him love. He must be the most spoiled kitty in all of New York City.
The Algonquin Hotel has beautiful rooms that have been fully renovated, but I love how they left some of the beautiful antique touches alone. The dark wood lobby feels like walking into a hotel straight out of the Great Gatsby! Be sure to check out the old Mail Chutes in the hallways and the iron rail staircases throughout the building. See Shakespeare In The Park
You dont have to fork over a ton of money to see a great theater performance. Each year, the Public Theater hosts Shakespeare in the Park, a summer series at the open-air Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The series draws celebrity names, and offers the chance to score free tickets for each days performance through a lottery system.
Watch The Sunset At Top Of The Rock
So there are quite a few viewpoints across Manhattan, but one of my favourites has to be at the Top Of The Rock.
Perched at the tip of the Rockefeller Center, its got some epic views across all of New York.
Now, to get the best views, book a sunset ticket to watch the city turn from day into night.
Just make sure to book it online before you head to New York these tickets run out fast. It really is one of the best things to do in New York if you love some epic views.

The Paley Center Reopens
The Paley Center for Media is an NYC cultural icon, covering TV, radio, and emerging platforms. Closed since the onset of the pandemic, it has just cut the ribbon on reopening, decked out for the season with holiday tradition PaleyLand. Four floors of exhibits run from photo ops with Santa to a stunning seven-foot menorah, picking up sneak preview screenings, star appearances, video games, demos with a LEGOMasters contestant, and the winter wonderland that is The Paley Express. PaleyLand is open from noon-6pm WednesdayFriday and 11am6pm Saturdays and Sundays until January 6th.
Finger Lakes Wine Country
Wine lovers rejoice well, I was anyway!
With more than a 100 wineries, distilleries, and breweries, around Seneca, Cayuga, and Keuka Lakes, this region is a haven for wine aficionados.
They specialize in Riesling and Gewurztraminer wines. While there are tons of tours to choose from, we recommend the Seneca Lake Wine Trail and a wine cruise along the Cayuga Lake where you can visit a few of the 26 wineries that are on the banks.
Its an amazing experience, just make sure to have a designated driver to hand. No one likes a drunken driver.

Experience An Immersive Circus

Take In The Manhattan Skyline From Brooklyn
When you get across the Brooklyn Bridge, spend a morning or afternoon on the waterfront of the East River in Brooklyn.
There are plenty of things to see here, including iconic views across the East River of the Manhattan Skyline from DUMBO and The Brooklyn Bridge Park.
You can wander around the cool neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights, head out to Coney Island, grab a slice of Pizza at the famous Grimaldis pizzeria and stroll along the waterfront admiring the shops, cafés, and Janes carousel.
Brooklyn is really a neighborhood and attraction unto itself that deserves more than a few hours, but if you are visiting New York for the first time, this is a great introduction.
