Two P& O Cruise Ships To Sail The Caribbean

P& O Cruises plans to have two ships sailing the Caribbean before the end of the year. The cruise line has experienced a hugely successful summer return with the launch of its newest flagship Iona and its popular summer seacations onboard Britannia. The cruise line is ready to expand its cruises and has chosen to do this in the Caribbean with Britannia and Azura.

Britannia will set off on her transatlantic voyage from Southampton in southern England on October 22. The vessel will take 14 days to sail to the Southern Caribbean island of Barbados before she starts the first of a series of 14-day cruises in the Caribbean.

Azura will be the second ship sailing the Caribbean for the UK-based cruise line. Starting December 10, the cruise ship will also be sailing from Barbados on 14-day itineraries that include ports of call such as Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Bonaire, Dominica, and Martinique.

P& O Cruises are not yet sailing with the entire fleet and will not do so this year. Aurora is currently scheduled to return in February of next year and Arcadia is scheduled to return to sailing in March of next year.

Plenty to look forward to and this will be the first chance British cruisers will be able to enjoy a cruise in the Caribbean since the suspension started in 2020.

Disney Cruise Line: Sailing From New York City

As a resident of the northeast, a Disney cruise adventure typically involves air travel. My family was excited when DCL released itineraries that were leaving from New York City, eliminating that long day of airports and airplanes. This is an overview of my experience, along with some helpful hints for anyone sailing from NYC.

We boarded a train near home that took us directly to Penn Station in New York City. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday evening. If you have ever been to Penn Station during rush hour on a Friday, you would understand how overwhelmed this country girl toting children and luggage was. If you havent been there during rush hour, I would recommend that you select any other possible time for your arrival. We had hoped to spend the evening exploring the city and possibly seeing a Broadway show, but after our initial welcome to the concrete jungle, we were happy to have a quiet evening in our hotel instead.

*Hint #1: If possible, do not arrive at Penn Station during rush hour. *Hint #2: Make flexible plans.We were really glad we didnt buy show tickets ahead of time. If you are set on seeing a show or seeing some of the sights, make sure you plan a couple of days before or after your cruise to do so. On Saturday we woke up and requested that our hotel staff call a driver to take us to the port.

If you are driving to New York City, parking is available at the Manhattan Terminal between the Piers 88 and 90.

Jamaica Prepares For Return Of Cruise Sector

Jamaica minister of tourism, Edmund Bartlett, has welcomed the return of the cruise sector to the Caribbean destination.

The minister said the arrival of Carnival Glory at Montego Bay Cruise Port would allow the island to cross a major threshold in its tourism recovery.

The conquest-class cruise ship has a maximum capacity of 2,980 passengers and 1,150 crew members.

I am delighted to welcome cruise back to the tourism capital of Jamaica Montego Bay.

I am certain that this will be a welcome move for our stakeholders, especially our small and medium tourism enterprises, who earn significantly from cruise passengers.

We certainly look forward to welcoming Carnival passengers to our shores and assure them that this will be a memorable but very safe experience, said Bartlett.

Montego Bay Cruise Port was itself recently recognised as the Caribbeans Leading Home Port by voters at the World Travel Awards.

The return of cruise to the second city in Jamaica is being managed by the Port Authority of Jamaica, the ministry of health and wellness, the Tourism Product Development Company and Jamaica Vacations .

Within the Resilient Corridors, travellers will be able to tour facilities and participate in pre-arranged excursions.

Our first objective was, and continues to be, instilling confidence in travellers.

Carnival Corporation recently committed to sending 110 or more cruises, by its various brands, to the island between October and April next year.

Ships Resatrt Despite Setbacks

Despite this setback, Carnival Cruise Line continues with its phased-in return to service, and hopefully, New Orleans will be ready for the next scheduled departure on September 12. That voyage will be a seven-day Western Caribbean cruise.

Eight Carnival ships have already resumed operations, including out of Florida, Texas, California, and Washington State. It has not been all smooth sailing as Carnival Panorama, based out of Long Beach, California, is suffering from a maximum cruising speed issue. 27 people also became infected on the Carnival Vista recently on a cruise out of Galveston.

The cruise line continues to follow the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , guidelines, and updates have been made to its protocols to keep everyone onboard its ships protected. This will be the same for Carnival Glory once the ship eventually begins sailings out of New Orleans.

Carnival Glory is among the first ships to receive its new red, white and blue livery and just recently completed a dry dock in France. The ship is 110,000 gross tons and has a guest passenger capacity of 2,980 at double occupancy, However, once the vessel resumes sailings, she will sail at around 70% capacity just like other ships that have already restarted.

Another Cruise Line Will Sail Year

New York City will have another cruise line homeport year-round when MSC Cruises repositions MSC Meraviglia to the region in 2023. The ship will homeport at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal starting next April.

The announcement marks a significant milestone for MSC Cruises, the contemporary brand of the Cruise Division of MSC Group. It represents the first time one of the cruise lines ships will homeport in the northeastern United States year-round. It also further enhances the cruise lines North American presence by complementing the rich choice of ships and itineraries out of PortMiami and Port Canaveral in the Orlando area.

On board MSC Meraviglia, guests will have a wide variety of vacation options, ranging from six to 11 nights, with destinations covering the Caribbean, Bermuda, New England and Canada. Cruises on these sailings are now open for bookings.

Itinerary that will be offered from New York on MSC Meraviglia include the following:

Caribbean itineraries will sail seven or eight nights, featuring calls in Nassau and Ocean Cay MSC Marine ReserveMSC Cruises beautiful private island in The Bahamas.

Bermuda itineraries lasting six nights will offer three days docked at Kings Wharf combined with several relaxing days at sea.

Northern itineraries of either 10 or 11 nights, featuring calls at Boston, Massachusetts Portland, Maine Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick.
