Needless to say, we cant give the ultimate answer here, since a different New York pass is the best option for each person.

So weve put together three different types of travelers and our recommendation for the best New York Pass for each type of traveller.

How Much Does Each York Pass Cost

You now know that you save BIG money by buying the passes. On to the more important question how much are the passes themselves?

CityPASS New York

Is New York CityPASS worth it or not? Well, it depends on what you buy and your schedule prices vary, as is seen below:

• The standard 6-attraction CityPASS costs $136 for adults and $112 for children.
• The C3 , on the other hand, costs $87 for adults and $67 for children.

New York Pass

New York Pass is a bit pricier on average compared to CityPASS.

Prices vary depending on how many days the pass is valid, and these prices are as follows:

• 1-day pass: $117 for adults and $90 for children
• 2-day pass: $149 for adults and $119 for children
• 3-day pass: $159 for adults and $124 for children
• 4-day pass: $184 for adults and $132 for children
• 5-day pass: $229 for adults and $159 for children
• 7-day pass: $239 for adults and $169 for children
• 10-day pass: $269 for adults and $179 for children

Ensure that you consider validity and your schedule to make the most out of the pass youll purchase. Bear in mind that youre only saving money if you visit as many attractions as you can.

Why Visit Top Of The Rock

The building isnt as iconic as the Empire State but its a very close call on which has the better view. From Top of the Rock you can see Central Park, the sun sets right behind The Edge and of course you can see the Empire State Building light up at night.

Citypass New York Vs New York Pass: What Attractions Are Included

Both passes allow the holder to visit several major tourist attractions in New York. Notably, there are some differences between the two regarding which attractions are included.

CityPASS New York

There are two main options for New York CityPASS: the standard pass and the C3 pass. The standard pass offers entry to 6 different attractions, while the C3 pass allows access to 3.

To be more specific, the standard pass includes:

Take note that for items 4, 5, and 6, only one of the two attractions can be visited. Meanwhile, the C3 New York CityPASS allows entry to any of the three attractions listed above with no restrictions.

So, is New York CityPASS worth it? Absolutely, as long as youre interested in a majority of the attractions listed above.

Is the New York Pass really worth it? Well, it has even more options compared to what New York CityPASS offer. All attractions included in New York CityPASS are here, plus the following, divided by category:

Citypass New York Vs New York Pass: Validity

How long the pass is valid should be one of the biggest considerations when choosing between the two. Otherwise, youll just end up wasting your hard-earned money on a pass thats either too long or too short.

As such, take note of the following:

CityPASS New York

Are you staying in New York for an extended time?

No problem!

CityPASS New York is valid for up to 9 days after it is first used on an attraction. This makes it ideal for those with a bit more wiggle room in their schedules.

CityPASS is excellent if you want to take your time and not be pressed to visit all the attractions. This means that you can shop, stroll around Central Park, or do anything you wish at your leisure.

The catch is that CityPASS has fewer attractions. Those making a short visit will also get the most out of the pass if they can blaze through the attractions quickly.

New York Pass

New York Pass has options that cater to both extended and shorter stays in the city. Customers can choose passes with validities of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 10 days.

Of course, aside from determining validity, the tougher part here is picking from the many attractions to visit.

Just staying in the city for just a few days? Then you can get a New York Pass that fits best with your schedule.

Whats great here is that you can visit as many attractions as you can within the validity you choose.

Day New York Itinerary Price Saving Example

Understanding which pass works for you might be easiest if you look at a sightseeing itinerary for the city. Ill base this on our 2 day New York itinerary, which has you visiting the following:

• Day 1: Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island, Wall Street, 9/11 Memorial & Museum, World Trade Center Station, Brooklyn Bridge, Boat Tour, Times Square, Top of the Rock
• Day 2: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim Museum, Central Park, Museum of the City of New York, Grand Central Station, New York Public Library, Empire State Building

Obviously, some of these attractions are free. However, you have to pay for the following. Prices are correct as of April 2022, but they can vary so do always check when making your own calculations. Weve tried to ensure we include the full price you pay including any taxes or service fees to make it as accurate as possible.

• Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island $24 USD
• 9/11 Memorial & Museum $30 USD
• Boat Tour $44 USD
• Museum of the City of New York- $20 USD
• Empire State Building- $47.91 USD

I think this is a fairly representative set of attractions that covers the highlights that most visitors to the city would be interested in.

I will also add that this is a very busy itinerary, and whilst achievable, some visitors will likely want to take a slower pace. When considering the value of a pass, you definitely need to weigh the cost against a reasonable list of attractions that you plan to visit.

How Much Does The New York City Pass Cost

The New York CityPASS costs $132 for adults, meaning that you pay an average of $22 per attraction. For kids from 6-17, the City Pass costs $108. A CityPASS is likely not worth it for kids younger than 6, as many attractions will be free for them anyway. Because the pass is already heavily discounted, there is no further New York City Pass promo.

Why Visit The Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum

You could easily spend a half day just walking around the aircraft carrier learning about all things space, sea and air.

Seeing serious action in WWII and the Cold War, collaborating with NASA to serve as recovery for astronauts and various tours in the Vietnam War, Intrepid has certainly had a colorful history.

Note: Advance reservations are required for the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

As you can see, the Empire State Building, Natural History Museum and MET are included as standard with all purchases of New York CityPASS. You then have the option to choose between Top of the Rock OR Guggenheim Museum and so on.

• Even if you selected the 3 cheapest attractions from numbers 4, 5 and 6, you would still save 27%.

• Based on our own preferred choices , we would save 34% vs individual tickets. Thats a lot of pizza slices!

Too much information! I know: choosing your New York sightseeing pass is not easy. In case youâre not entirely clear, hereâs the rundown to help you make a decision. The New York CityPass is for you if:

• You will be in New York for a week
• You want to see the most âtypicalâ of New York City
• You have little time to organize your trip
• You like to explore a new city at your own pace
• You have a tight budget for your trip

The New York Pass Explained

As soon as you’ve purchased your pass, you can download it to the official New York Pass® app and start using it straight away.

When you enter your first attraction, your pass will activate. You will then have the remaining consecutive days of your chosen pass duration to visit as many attractions as you wish.

For example, if you activate a 3-day pass on Monday, it will be active on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The pass will conclude at midnight on Wednesday.

Certain attractions will require a reservation. If this is the case, you’ll find all booking information listed on our reservations page and the individual attraction pages on our website and app. Some advance reservations will require a pass number or order reference number to secure your booking, so remember to have it handy!

New York also has a few extremely popular attractions that don’t have reservation requirements, but will involve wait times during busy periods. These include Top of the Rock Observation Deck, 9/11 Memorial & Museum, One World Observatory, Best of NYC Cruise by Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises and Liberty Super Express Cruise.

The good news is that if you plan on visiting a number of attractions in New York, you can take advantage of one of the various New York city passes that are available. If you take advantage of these passes, you can end up saving a lot of money. However, you will have to decide if each pass is worth it for your visit, based on the attractions you really want to see.
