How Many New Yorkers Have Received These Treatments

How to order food at an New York City street vendor

Its hard to say. Though the health department provided the 17,500 figure after this article was published, Patrick Gallahue, a spokesman, said the agency didnt have visibility into the entire universe of pharmacies that distribute many of the treatments.

There is an immunization registry that tracks vaccinations, but there isnt a registry for prescription medication, said Dr. Nash.

Its a problem that they dont have their finger on the pulse of this, because it is the main thing that is going to help us contain these surges, hospitalizations and deaths, he said. That plus vaccines and boosters.

Dr. Nash worried that the inequities seen during each phase of the pandemic, including with the rollout of testing and vaccines, would play out again with these treatments.

If you dont anticipate that the underlying inequities in access to health care are going to be magnified, if you dont plan for it, then youve done a poor job at your job of taking care of the most vulnerable people in the city, said Dr. Nash.

Ordering Food Delivered To A Hotel

Will the restaurants that deliver in the area of our hotel deliver to the hotel? Or do they just deliver to residences/apartments? What is the protocol? Do we meet them in the lobby? And how much do we tip? In past trips we have been too tired from our many miles walking and just gone to bed hungry.

They will deliver to a hotel address.

I wouldn’t expect them to deliver to your hotel room though, and some hotels might not like it anyway, but you could always meet the delivery person in the lobby and take it your room yourself. Make sure you’re waiting when they arrive so as to not cause any cofusion.

is a website that many locals use to order take out and delivery. I haven’t tried it myself because I tend to just eat out, even if it’s just a quick snack for dinner.

As to what to tip, this is an extract from the “How Much Do I Tip People” FAQ, found on the right hand side of the forum page when browsing the full website:

“Food delivery person: The Greater of 10% of the bill or $2.00. Should tip 15%-20% for a difficult delivery.”

I absolutely would expect them to deliver to the room. Ask at the front desk when you arrive what their protocols are, whether they call you from the lobby to confirm that you ordered food, or if they just send them up.

What do you tip the pizza delivery person at home? I would go with that and maybe add a few dollars more.

Lots of times hotels have arrangements with nearby restaurants and even have menus in the room.

New York City To Require Food Delivery Services To Share Customer Data With Restaurants

On August 29, 2021, a New York City Council bill amending the New York City Administrative Code to address customer data collected by food delivery services from online orders became law after the 30-day period for the mayor to sign or veto lapsed. Effective December 27, 2021, the law will permit restaurants to request customer data from third-party food delivery services and require delivery services to provide, on at least a monthly basis, such customer data until the restaurant requests to no longer receive such customer data. Customer data includes name, phone number, email address, delivery address and contents of the order.

Although customers are permitted to request that their customer data not be shared, the presumption under the law is that customers have consented to the sharing of such customer data applicable to all online orders, unless the customer has made such a request in relation to a specific online order. The food delivery services are required to provide on its website a way for customers to request that their data not be shared in relation to such online order. To assist its customers with deciding whether their data should be shared, delivery services must disclose to the customer the data that may be shared with the restaurant and the restaurant fulfilling the order as the recipient of the data.

Dont confuse this flagship with its more modest progeny at St. Marks Place and Avenue A, which is much more informal with lots of tacos and guacamole. The setting here is sophisticated, sleek contemporary, and the service is efficient and friendly. The lunch prix fixe at $42 is a relative bargain, despite the number of supplements. The tortilla soup with its tangy chili broth, shredded radish and small chunks of avocado is delectable. The four-bean salad with quail eggs in a tomato vinaigrette is in a class by itself. The pumpkin-seed cappelletti is unusual, with the extra dash of honey nut squash juice adding to a memorable taste experience. Jumbo prawn salad is so generous with its prawns that if you dont have help eating it, you may need to ask for a doggy bag. The citrus flan with sour orange marmalade is the perfect way to round off a most enjoyable meal.

Who Is Eligible For The Treatments

For most of the treatments, city officials give priority to people who have not only tested positive for the coronavirus, but who also have mild to moderate symptoms and are at increased risk of developing serious illness.

You are considered at high risk of developing serious illness from Covid-19 if you are age 65 or older, or if you have health risks such as diabetes, hypertension or heart disease. Immunosuppressed people are also considered to be at high risk.

The federal government has urged providers to prioritize the treatments for people who are unvaccinated, or arent yet fully vaccinated.

You have to be older than 12 and weigh more than 40 kilograms, or around 88 pounds, to receive Paxlovid, bebtelovimab, and Evusheld. But you have to be at least 18 to take molnupiravir.

People with severe kidney or liver disease may not be eligible for Paxlovid. Molnupiravir cannot be used during pregnancy, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should talk to your health care provider before taking Paxlovid, according to the F.D.A. fact sheet for the treatment.

It is important for patients to talk with their providers about the medications they are taking, as they could negatively interact with the treatments, said Dr. Andrew Wallach, the ambulatory care chief medical officer at New York City Health and Hospitals.

Are The Treatments Effective

The oral treatments have been proven to reduce hospitalization and death from Covid-19 if taken soon after the onset of symptoms.

Paxlovid reduced the risk of hospitalization and death in high-risk, unvaccinated people by 88 percent when taken within five days of the onset of symptoms in a Pfizer trial published in December, before the Omicron wave.

Molnupiravir reduced the risk of hospitalization and death in high-risk, unvaccinated people by 30 percent when taken within five days of the onset of symptoms, according to an analysis from Merck that was published in November.

Bebtelovimab, which must be administered within seven days of symptoms starting, has not been tested in a study that can show whether it can stave off severe disease, and the Food and Drug Administration said it should not be a preferred treatment.

Evusheld, which can be administered as often as every six months, was found to be strongly effective at preventing Covid in a clinical trial.
