So in New York State, the TASC exam is free. Not only is the TASC free in New York, but most prep facilities also offer classes at no cost.

Since GED protocols vary from state to state, the process of getting a copy will depend on where you live. Nobody is more familiar with the local GED procedures than the nearby testing center.

Wherever you took your exam, locate the number for the facility and give them a call. If you earned your certificate through an education program, you can contact them instead.

Reporting Student Data For Tasc Subtest Exemptions During Covid

The NYSED Board of Regents have adopted many regulatory changes to address educational challenges during COVID-19. For more information, please review the High School Equivalency Guidance.

One regulatory change addresses students who were planning to take TASC sub-tests and provides exemptions from TASC testing during COVID-19 if the following criteria are met:

• Enrolled in an approved alternative High School Equivalency preparation program or an adult education preparation program and
• Previously took and passed a combination of at least three Regents examinations and/or applicable TASC or GED subject sub-tests and
• For the remaining two sub-tests, the student achieves a passing grade in the corresponding preparation program coursework.

Reporting of student data to the NYSED HSE Office will be conducted by alternative education and adult education preparation program administrators and not by individual student applicants. How The Online Ged Test Works

Perform a system test to make sure your computer, webcam and internet connection meet the requirements for testing online.

Schedule your online test within 60 days of scoring green on a GED Ready practice test.

Log in to GED.com 30 minutes before your test appointment to launch your test.

Ged Requirements In New York

• To take the TASC exam in New York, you must be at least 16 years old.
• If you are 16, 17, or 18 years old, however, additional eligibility rules, requirements, and restrictions apply.
• You must, for instance, have permission from your school district and hold parental consent. Please contact a test center.
• You are eligible to take the TASC if you have lived in New York State for at least 30 days.
• You are not a high school graduate or hold a high school-equivalent credential.
• You cannot be signed up for any other school program.

Earning Your Ged Certificate

The GED exam comprises four sections, each scored out of a possible 200 points. The lowest composite score considered a passing grade is 580. This requires students to earn at least a 145 on each section to pass and receive their GED certificate. A higher score on one section cannot be applied to a lower score on another.

Scores are broken into four levels:

Those who do not earn a passing score their first time can retake the exam at a discounted rate. GED Testing Service waives its $20 testing fee for each subject, allowing students to retake the exam twice at a lower cost. If they passed three subject tests and failed only one, a test-taker is only required to re-sit that subject rather than the entire exam.

Candidates can retake each subject up to three times per year. This gives time for test-takers to brush up on specific areas.

How And Where To Take The Test

Candidates must follow a specific set of steps to register and sit for the GED exam. The process differs among states, but it covers the following set of common elements:
