How Much Is The Sunday New York Times

Price Of Sunday New York Times At A Newsstand

Republic TV LIVE News: New York Subway Shootout | Republic LIVE Outside NYPD HQ | Latest Updates

Ive googled and can only find outdated data from 2012. How much is it today. Also what hours do those stands operate?

Thanks.

Great question, and I was embarrassed that I didn’t know!

You’re correct, it wasn’t easy to find the prices on line. Took several searches. I finally found a pdf scan of the front page of last Sunday’s paper, I blew it up and can see that it’s $6.00

And I would imagine the stand times vary, depending on the requirements of the owner

You can generally buy the Sunday paper on Sat. night.

Sorry, yes, stand times vary depending on where they are. Some stands will have the NY Times on Saturday night.

There was a time decades aqo when the Sunday NYT was a massive publication, perhaps 5 inches thick folded in half, with special department store advertising magazines, etc. Of course, everything has changed and many of the department stores have disappeared. In this period there was a cartoon of a man emerging from his apartment to pick up his Sunday NYT using a small fork lift truck.

Plenty of newsstands are open 24/7.

Thanks Risa I was going bonkers trying to find it. Good to know my jet lagged odd hours wont be that odd in NY!

The last time I was in NYC, I had a really hard time finding a hard copy of the Times & I was at the Crowne Plaza in Times Square. I ended up downloading it onto my Kindle which cost me less but I prefer reading in hard copy

Duane Reade usually has the Sunday Times, but go early to get it.

Sunday New York Times Weight Analysis

I started collecting a rough estimate of the weight of the Sunday New York Times after having a discussion about it with a friend from Australia. Ive made mention of the heavy weight of the Sunday Times before, and now I was curious about its actual weight.

I have two scales in my apartment. The first is a small food scale that can barely handle any weight over 1 pound. The other is a bathroom scale that cant handle weights under 25 pounds. I was pretty sure that the Sunday Times fell somewhere in between.

In order to weigh the Times, I had to do the only thing that was logically available to me I would get on the bathroom scale and weigh myself, then get on with the Times and use the difference as the weight of the Times. While not being exact, it should give a close estimate of what the paper weighs.

The New York Times Book Review prefers to receive pre-release galleys from book publishers 4 months prior to the books publication date. However, they will accepted a finished book if a galley is not available. This does not mean you can send a book that is already published, just that if your book is finalized you can still send them the final copy.

Not familiar with a pre-release galley? Find out more in our book, How to Get Honest Reviews.

2. There is No Guarantee, Returns, or Updates

You can send your book in, but they do not promise to review it, return it, or even update you on the status. Likewise, they are very clear that they wont respond to questions about the status of reviews, or notify authors if they

The New York Times Pricing Matrix

The New York Times Sunday edition: print versus digital ...

A different pricing structure might bring me back. But hey, maybe in the end, there is no pricing structure for the New York Times that makes sense for me to come back.

I get that. But at the very least, dont make me or any consumer have to produce something like this to figure out the basic cost:

Thats a chart of all the New York Times main subscription rates, as best I can tell, for the moment. You wont find anything like it on the New York Times site in places you might look, such as here or here, not that shows print alongside digital. Its worse when it comes to the print editions, where you often arent told flat-out what the regular rate will be when a trial ends. Consider this:

If you want to figure out the regular price of any of those options, after the subscription expires, you have to do the math. Sure, the math isnt hard but why not spell it out at least in the fine print?

Discriminatory practices used by the paper long restricted women in appointments to editorial positions. The newspaper’s first general female reporter was , who described her experience afterward: “In the beginning I was charged not to reveal the fact that a female had been hired”. Other reporters nicknamed her Fluff and she was subjected to considerable hazing. Because of her gender, any promotion was out of the question, according to the then-managing editor. She remained on the staff for fifteen years, interrupted by World War I.

In 1935, Anne McCormick wrote to Arthur Hays Sulzberger: “I hope you won’t expect me to revert to ‘woman’s-point-of-view’ stuff.” Later, she interviewed major political leaders and appears to have had easier access than her colleagues. How Much Is A New York Times Subscription It Takes A Spreadsheet To Answer

June 24, 2014 by Danny Sullivan

Quick how much does it cost to subscribe to the New York Times? The answer is that to figure out whats the best option for you likely involves firing up a spreadsheet, given the lack of transparency in how the New York Times prices things.

The New York Times is hardly the only publisher to hide the yearly cost of subscription behind attractive trial offers. But since the publication hit me with two different offers today part of a regular stream I get every two or three weeks, its getting special attention from me in this post.

In 2011, I subscribed to daily print delivery of the New York Times through an offer that gave it to me for about $200 per year. But after the six month trial period expired, I balked at the $400 per year price tag it went up to. I canceled.

How To Avoid Paying The Sucker Rate For A New York Times Subscription

The assistant managing editor for new products and strategic initiatives at the New York Times made a minor strategic error last week. On Nov. 10, Gerald Marzorati blurted out at a Timespanel discussion on digital media that the paper had north of 800,000 subscribers paying north of $700 a year for home delivery who dont seem to know that. During the recession the paper raised the home-delivery rate 5 percent, Marzorati said, but only 0.01 percent canceled. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that theyre literally not understanding what theyre paying, Marzorati said. Thats the beauty of the credit card.

The blogosphere was titillated that a top Times editor would admit that Times readers arent savvy consumers. Seven hundred dollars, after all, is about what Apple will charge you for a 64-gigabyte iPad on which you can now read the entire Times free of charge provided you have a Wi-Fi connection. For $29 more, you can buy a 32-gigabyte iPad that you can use with either a Wi-Fi or a cellular connection. The Times app will stop being free early next year, but no way will the subscription price be anywhere near $700. Meanwhile, you can use your iPad to also read the Washington Post app and the Wall Street Journal app . As noted previously by Slates Jacob Weisberg, you dont really have to get the iPad apps to read these newspapers online, because the screen is big enough to make their Web sites decently readable.

Too Much Information About Information

Information seems to be everywhere these days, bombarding us via Twitter, Facebook and the Web, not to mention the creakier delivery systems of newspapers and other legacy media. It has even made it onto the best-seller list, thanks to the success of James Gleicks latest scientific door-stopper, The Information: A History, a Theory, a Flood.

Dispatches From the Book Review

The use of the word information itself certainly seems to have exploded since its earliest recorded appearance in 1387. As Michael Proffitt, the managing editor of the Oxford English Dictionary, notes in an essay written for the recent relaunch of the O.E.D.s digital edition, information is the 486th most frequently occurring word in Project Gutenbergs searchable corpus of mostly pre-1900 literature. A 1967 survey of contemporary American English ranked it 346th. And the rise of digital technology seems only to have speeded its ascent. One recent survey of online usage lists information as the 22nd most common word.

This is an old word with a new lease on life, Proffitt writes. Its also a word with a greatly expanded entry in the latest revision to the O.E.D., one thats twice as long as the original.

But others argue that even at nearly 10,000, the entry isnt long enough.

Thats the sense of information that enables people to claim that a copy of the daily New York Times contains more information than the average 17th-century Englishman encountered in a lifetime, Nunberg said.
