Ticket Lottery And Ham4ham
Hamilton, like some other Broadway musicals, offers a ticket lottery before every show. Initially, 21 front-row seats were offered in each lottery. Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda began preparing and hosting outdoor mini-performances shortly before each daily drawing, allowing lottery participants to experience a part of the show even when they did not win tickets. These were dubbed the “Ham4Ham” shows, because lottery winners were given the opportunity to purchase two tickets at the reduced price of one Hamilton each.
The online theatrical journal HowlRound characterized Ham4Ham as an expression of Miranda’s cultural background:
Ham4Ham follows a long tradition of Latina/o theatremaking that dates back to when the events in Hamilton were happening. … The philosophy behind this is simple. If the people won’t come to the theatre, then take the theatre to the people. While El Teatro Campesino‘s ‘taking it to the streets’ originated from a place of social protest, Ham4Ham does so to create accessibility, tap into social media, and ultimately generate a free, self-functioning marketing campaign. In this way, Ham4Ham falls into a lineage of accessibility as a Latina/o theatremaking aesthetic.

Alexander Hamilton A Real American
Alexander Hamilton was born in the Caribbean island nation of Nevis, one of the small islands of the Lesser Antilles, east of Puerto Rico. Fatherless and orphaned as a child, Hamilton made his way to New York City at age 17 where he was noticed for his talent, making his way to a degree from what is now Columbia University.
Hamilton is one of our countrys founding fathers. He played a role in the American Revolutionary War as an aide to George Washington, founded the Bank of New York , helped develop the American Constitution, founded our American financial system, and founded the first American political party, the Federalist Party. When did Hamilton sleep?
As the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Hamilton crafted the deal that allowed the U.S. to pay our Revolutionary War debt by selling bonds. As part of the deal, our nations capital was moved from New York City to Washington D.C. This was the foundation of our U.S. financial system which has now grown into the worlds financial system.
School children in the United States learn about the 1804 duel between arch-rivals Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton that ended Hamiltons life. The founding father is buried in Trinity Church downtown. He deserves a long, restful sleep and our eternal gratitude. He did pretty good for an orphan from the Caribbean.

Hamilton Becomes Washingtons Right Hand Man
While Hamilton was in college, the Revolutionary War started and King’s College shuttered. Hamilton joined in a New York artillery company. He became a captain of the 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery Regiment and was so good at his job that he later became George Washingtons aide and secretary.

He was there in “the Fields”, now City Hall Park, when the Declaration of Independence was read for the first time on July 9, 1776. A mob rushed to Bowling Green Park and toppled the statue of King George III. They hacked it to pieces and recast it as musket ballsthe war wasn’t over yet.
The Old Stone House is a replica of a Dutch stone farmhouse that was built in 1699.
Following the United States Independence, the Battle of Brooklyn was fought on the ground that later became Prospect Park. At what is now Washington Park, British and Hessian soldiers used the Old Stone House as an artillery position to successfully attack the Maryland Brigade.
Fort Washington Park is one of many Northern Manhattan Parks that share the rich history of the Revolutionary War.
In 1780, Hamilton married Elizabeth Schuyler and left the army in 1781.
The Timeline Of Hamilton
Lin-Manuel Miranda first came up with the idea for Hamilton in 2008 while reading Ron Chernows biography, Alexander Hamilton, the Chicago Tribune reported. This was after his musical In the Heights premiered on Broadway and won a Tony. Miranda then performed The Hamilton Mixtape for President Barack Obama and his family in 2009. The song would later become the musicals opening number. The musicals off-Broadway debut was in February 2015 at the Public Theater, and then it opened on Broadway in August 2015.
The shows first post-Broadway production was in Chicago in October 2016, the Chicago Tribune reported. That one still runs with Miguel Cervantes as Alexander. The national tour launched in 2017.
Disney paid $75 million for the rights to Hamilton, Deadline reported. It was originally going to be a theatrical release, and Disney had to renegotiate the deal when they decided to release it on the streaming service instead. This is an amazing stage show that fans will be able to watch right from their homes. Its a perfectly timed release while people are sheltering at home and looking for new things to engage in and talk about.

North American Touring Productions
Angelica Tour/Philip Tour
Plans for a national tour of Hamilton emerged near the end of January 2016. The tour was initially announced with over 20 stops, scheduled from 2017 through at least 2020. Tickets to the tour’s run in San Franciscoits debut citysold out within 24 hours of release the number of people who entered the online waiting room to purchase tickets surpassed 110,000. The first national touring production began preview performances at San Francisco’s SHN Orpheum Theatre on March 10, 2017, and officially opened on March 23. The production ran in San Francisco until August 5, when it transferred to Los Angeles’s Hollywood Pantages Theatre for a run from August 11 to December 30, 2017.
Just days after the first U.S. tour began performances in San Francisco, news emerged that a second U.S. tour of Hamilton would begin in Seattle for a six-week limited engagement before touring North America concurrently with the first tour. To distinguish the first and second touring productions, the production team has labeled them, respectively, the “Angelica Tour” and the “Philip Tour”.
The Philip tour began preview performances at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on February 6, 2018, before officially opening on February 15, 2018.

Hamilton Grange: Its Quiet Uptown
A visit to Hamiltons New York City home is a must. While he only lived in it for two years Hamilton often mentioned wanting to live in a home filled with his children this was his vision. Originally, the house sat on a 30-acre estate near 143rd and Convent Avenue. In 2008 it was moved to a more pastoral location in St. Nicholas Park. Hamilton Was Filmed In 2016 In New York City
Hamilton was filmed in June 2016 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City, New York, according to a press release from Disney.
The Richard Rodgers Theatre has been the home of Hamilton in New York since 2015. The theater has 1,319 seats. Hamilton first premiered on Broadway on August 6, 2015, so the scenes youre seeing were filmed fairly a little less than a year after the Broadway show premiered.
Lin-Manuel Miranda said about the film production: Im incredibly grateful that the world will be able to see this. Theater is a communal artistic experience, and this film is a love letter to live theater.
Thomas Kail, director of Hamilton, said about the production: It is a cinematic piece of art that recreates the energy and the sense of community the original production provided.
He said that the shows done with the audience were filmed non-stop and the cameras were positioned in-house or on-stage. We just ran the shows as we always did, Kail said.
The film, Kail said, gives everyone the same seat, which is a new experience.
The editing process is where I found the movie, Kail said. We wanted to preserve a moment in time and share it with as many people as possible, and it was an opportunity to create new fans and new storytellers and to celebrate the form of live theater.

Hamilton‘s off-Broadway engagement at The Public Theater was sold out, and when the musical opened on Broadway, it had a multimillion-dollar advance in ticket sales, reportedly taking in $30 million before its official opening.

Broadway productions have cancelled performances of Hamilton due to recent sexual assault claims, making it the fourth Broadway production to do so and the first involving the Carter family. Tina Turner Musical, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Aint too Proud have all been accused of sexual assault.

Hamilton Cancels Additional Broadway Performances Due To Covid
The Broadway production of Hamilton canceled its Dec. 16 and Dec. 17 performances due to breakthrough COVID19 cases within the company, the production said Thursday.
The production had initially canceled its Dec. 15 evening show due to the discovery of positive test results. The statement from producers does not specify a return date for the production. Ticket holders for canceled performances will be refunded at their point of purchase.
Multiple Broadway shows are facing cancellations due to breakthrough COVID-19 cases. Mrs. Doubtfire, Freestyle Love Supreme, Tina, Aint Too Proud and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, were forced to cancel performances this week after cast and crew members tested positive for the virus. Broadway casts and companies are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Cases are on the rise in New York City due to the spread of the omicron variant. Epidemiologist Blythe Adamson, who works with more than a dozen Broadway productions, told Broadway News that the variant has been identified in many of the positive tests in the industry so far.
Hamilton reopened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Sept. 14. Outside of the pandemic shutdown, it had been running at the theater since the summer of 2015.
