What To Do In New York In February

Things To Do In Nyc In February

New York City: A Week in Review (February 13 – 19)

Name A Roach for an Ex at the Bronx Zoo

Lets start off by prefacing that February is full of romantic things to do in NYC as its the month of Valentines Day. If you are feeling blue this Valentines dont worry weve got you covered.

By far and away the most non-romantic things to do in New York in February is naming a roach for your ex at the Bronx Zoo. I mean, unless your Valentine loves roaches. You can even get embroidered beanies, socks, and an adorable card of your roach.

I just love the fact that this is a thing and has been since 2011. Whats funny is that this has always been a thing for your ex but as of recently the Bronx Zoo has rebranded this to give to your actual Valentine, so do a temperature check in your relationship if this is something you plan on doing.

Lunar New Year Celebrations in Chinatown

Every February in NYC you can celebrate the Lunar New Year in Chinatown to celebrate the beginning of the lunar calendar celebrated throughout various parts of Asia.

The most popular and well-known Lunar New Years Festivals are the two that take place in Manhattans Chinatown: New Years Day Firecracker Ceremony and Cultural Festival and Lunar New Year Parade and Festival.

This is where Chinatown comes to life and you can find all kinds of fun gifts, food, and even personal confetti blasters to add to the exciting parade as it passes by with its lion and dragon dances, floats, live performances, and more!

A New Immersive Art Experience

Head to the historic boiler room of Chelsea Market to experience the immersive art space ARTECHOUSE. Right now you can catch a reprise of the space’s first installation, Machine Hallucination by Refik Anadol. Anadol is a Turkish artist with a keen interest in using machines for innovative data sculptures and installations. Anadol has created Machine Hallucination with New York architecture in mind. The waves of imagery that envelop visitors are a machine-generated assemblage of 3 million different images of local architecture. The array of images is determined by artificial intelligence and meant to mimic the boundless, multidimensional world of machines. Together, as they roll across the space, these images create an entirely new architectural environment and not a little wonder. Youve never seen art like this before, as room-sized digital projections merge with sound design to create an almost cinematic experience. ARTECHOUSE is located in the 6,000-square-foot boiler room beneath Chelsea Market and is the first tenant in this unique space. The exposed brick walls and terracotta ceilings have been preserved to recall the 100-year-old history of the place while it houses this forward-thinking concept.

Taste A 100% American Burger At 5 Napkin

The origin of the hamburger is in the United States and Germany. That is why in their cities you can eat some of the best in the world. And New York was not going to be less. So tasting one of them is undoubtedly one of the activities that you can not miss if you visit the Big Apple.

In February, the cold season, eat a hot New York hamburger and in few months you can enjoy it so much. Do you know the saying: “good things come to slow cooking”? Well, in February tourism is much lower and the best restaurants in New York have more time to dedicate to their creations. Believe me, it shows!

For this you have several places where you can taste the delicious ingredients and find probably the best burger you’ve ever tasted. For this, you can go to the restaurant “Five Napkin Burger” one of the top 5 and for many considered the best restaurant to have a New York burger.

There you can also eat sushi or other dishes, so if there is someone who wants to take something softer you can do it without problem. The best of this restaurant is their “Original” burger, with special cheese and homemade sauce. It is a very big and consistent burger, so much so that finishing it is a challenge.

The best place to enjoy the celebration is none other than the streets of the Chinatown district, where you can be amazed by floats, dances and even dragons! Without a doubt it is the best time to visit this peculiar neighborhood.
