How Long Does It Take To Drive

If you have a vehicle, the drive takes six and a half hours and passes through all of New Jersey and northern Pennsylvania before re-entering New York State and continuing up to Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls State Park on the U.S. side of the border has four parking lots that are open 24 hours a day and seven days a week, which cost $10 to park for the day during the week. However, on weekends and holidays they fill up quickly and cost $15 for the day. If they’re full, there are paid parking lots around downtown Niagara Falls as well as metered street parking, all of which are just a short walk from the waterfall viewing points.

Depending On The Length Of Your Trip

New York State to Do Away with Niagara Falls Highway Next City

If you are going to be in New York for 5 days or more, you have plenty of time to consider the option of taking one of the best tours from New York. Spending the day out of the chaos and lights of Manhattan and into a very unique natural setting will bring you back to New York with more energy to continue enjoying the city.

On the other hand, if you are short on time during your trip and, for example, you are going to be in New York for 3 days or less, subtracting a day from New York might leave you without seeing or enjoying some of its neighborhoods or must-see attractions. In that case it would not be worth visiting the Falls.

Visiting Niagara Falls In Ontario

Panoramic views of the waterfalls from the Canadian side

While the American side of Niagara Falls is less developed, the Canadian side is more urban and glamorous. In Canada, youll experience the best views of all of the falls, from seeing the macro-view of the American side as well as the astonishing Horseshoe Falls.

Please note: Youll be visiting another country, so remember to pack your passport. Although most places on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls accept American dollars, you may incur foreign exchange fees if your use a credit card. On the plus side, your currency will have a stronger purchasing power in Canada than in the U.S.A. because the U.S. dollar is worth more than the Canadian dollar.

Dine At A Restaurant With Epic Views

Another great spot is Bella Vista Ristorante, located right on the river. Here, you can enjoy patio dining in an outdoor atmosphere while dining on delicious Italian food.

Although this restaurant has terrible reviews, if you want to just stop for a coffee or beer to relax between activities, consider popping into Top of the Falls. It is the only restaurant on the American side that overlooks the Falls.
