How Do I Register To Vote
- Online: Use the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles website. You must have a New York State DMV-issued driver’s license, permit or non-driver ID and the last four digits of your Social Security number to register online and your zip code must be on record with the DMV.
- Download a voter registration form from the state elections website, print it, fill it out and mail it to your county Board of Elections. You can also request that a registration form be mailed to you through the state Board of Elections website or by calling the BOE at 800-367-8683.
- In person: Register at your county Board of Elections or at any New York State agency-based voter registration center, which include city and State Universities of New York, the Office for the Aging and the Department of Social Services.
You can check the status of your registration on the Board of Elections website. And you can use the to change your name, address or party affiliation. The deadline to register to vote online, by mail or in person is June 3 for the primary and Oct. 14 for the general.

Early Voting
Vote in-person from Saturday, October 23 to Sunday, October 31st. Your Early Voting site may be different from your Election Day poll site, so be sure to check your poll site location on the poll site locator.
Vote by Mail
All registered voters also have the option to vote by mail .
- The deadline to request your absentee ballot online or by mail is Monday, October 18, 2021. The deadline to request your ballot in-person is Monday, November 1, 2021.
- Ballots must be postmarked on or before Tuesday, November 2 andreceived bythe Board of Elections When you receive your ballot, make sure to sign and date the back of your absentee ballot envelope.

Mail Time Considerations When Returning An Absentee Ballot
When mailing your completed ballot, the USPS recommends that voters allow enough time for ballots to be returned to the Board, which is generally seven days ahead of the general election. Voters who mail in their ballots on Election Day must be aware of the posted collection times on collection boxes and at the Postal Serviceâs retail facilities, and that ballots entered after the last posted collection time will not be postmarked until the following business day.

Early Voting Begins In New York Election Officials Prepared For Massive Operation
NEW YORK — Saturday kicked off nine straight days of early voting in New York.
It’s the first time in history that New Yorkers can vote early in a presidential election, CBS2’s Christina Fan reported.
According to the Board of Elections, almost 94,000 people in Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Richmond voted in person on Saturday.

Election officials are prepared for a massive operation, and some speedbumps along the way.
“We’re not expecting perfection on those nine days. We’re not expecting perfection on Election Day,” said New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
Preventing early voters from getting dissuaded by misinformation is a major hurdle, officials said.
State Attorney General Letitia James is investigating robocalls attempting to do just that.
“Robocalls indicating that if you are an anti-vaxxer, if you are against vaccinations, that by voting early you will somehow be forced to take a vaccination,” James said.
Those calls are, of course, not true, but misinformation, coupled with a recent mishap in which a vendor sent absentee ballot envelopes to people in Brooklyn with mismatched names, is enough to cause confusion.
“That has a chilling effect on people who are already concerned,” said Williams.

Accessible Voting By Mail In New York
If you can mark, verify and cast a paper mail-in ballot privately and independently, voting by mail is a healthy option, especially if you can use a drop-off location to return your ballot.
For the in New York:
- All voters can request an absentee ballot using COVID-19 as the reason.
- Postage is pre-paid, so you dont need a stamp.

When And Where You Can Vote Early In New York City
Election Day is coming up in New York City, but registered voters can cast their ballots early, from October 24 to November 1.
If you would like to vote in person, doing so during this time allows for voter traffic to be spread out so there are fewer people at polling places on Election Day, November 3.

Early voting for the general election in New York City has begun and will run through Oct. 31.

The process is similar to what youâd go through on Election Day, but with more flexibility and potentially shorter lines. Early voting is available to all registered voters.

Can I Vote Early If I Requested Or Submitted An Absentee Ballot
If you requested an absentee ballot, then you should plan to vote with it. You can drop off your completed absentee ballot at any early voting site while polls are open. However, if you choose to vote in person after requesting an absentee ballot, you will have to vote with an affidavit ballot at your poll site. This ballot will look different. Ask a poll worker for help if you need it.

How Can I Get An Absentee Ballot Are There Important Deadlines
- Online: Request an absentee ballot on the state Board of Elections website. The deadline to complete your application online for the primary is June 13 and for the general is Oct. 24.
- Mail or phone: Download an application from the state Board of Elections website, fill it out online or by hand, print it and mail it to your local county Board of Elections office. You can also call your local county Board of Elections office and request an application be mailed to you. Your application must be postmarked or mailed by June 13 to vote in the primary and by Oct. 24 to vote in the general.
- In person: Visit your county Board of Elections office and fill out an application. You can also designate another person to deliver your application to your county Board of Elections office and receive your ballot. Whos Running For Nyc Mayor
Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa and Democratic nominee Eric Adams are among the candidates vying to become the next mayor of New York City. Sliwa also ran his campaign as an independent candidate. After the primary election in June, he told PIX11 News he hoped to sway independents in an effort to level the playing field in a city with a heavily Democratic voter base.
As the leader of the Guardian Angels, Sliwa has touted himself as the law-and-order candidate who can bring gun violence in the city under control. He also floated a pilot program for Universal Basic Income, which would provide $1,100 a month to 500 residents with no strings attached and no means testing.
Adams, meanwhile, has declared himself a left-wing member of that left-wing party, while also emphasizing his working-class origins and experience as an NYPD captain. Hes also doubled down on crime prevention, saying the city needs to be perceived as safe if businesses are going to bring employees back to work after the pandemic and start investing in New York again.
