Regular Certificate Of Authority
You must apply for a regular Certificate of Authority if you will be making taxable sales from your home, a shop, a store, a cart, a stand, or any other facility from which you regularly conduct your business. It does not matter whether you own or rent the facility.
If you make sales at a show or entertainment event, such as a craft show, antique show, flea market, or sporting event, you must apply for a regular Certificate of Authority, even if your sales are only on an isolated or occasional basis. The department no longer issues the Certificate of Authority for Show and Entertainment Vendors that was previously issued for these vendors. Residents Of New York Will Need A Real Id Or Enhanced Id To Board An Airplane Starting May 3 2023
New York residents will need an enhanced drivers license or a REAL ID compatible drivers license by May 3, 2023, if they want to use it to get on a domestic flight, enter certain federal buildings or enter military bases. With that in mind, it is highly recommended that New Yorkers who plan to travel upgrade from a standard drivers license to a REAL ID or enhanced license. Get it sooner, rather than later.A New Yorks REAL ID drivers licenses has a star in the upper right corner to indicate that it meets federal regulations that establish minimum security standards. The enhanced drivers license has a U.S. flag on the bottom right of the license.

What Is An Enhanced Non
If you are a U.S. citizen and New York State resident, you can apply for a New York State ENDID that can be used instead of a passport to return to the US by land or sea from Canada, Mexico and some countries in the Caribbean. 1 An EDL is not acceptable for air travel between these countries.

You Must Display Your Certificate Of Authority
You must prominently display your Certificate of Authority at your place of business, including additional locations. If you have no permanent physical location, you can attach it to your truck, cart, wagon, stand, or other vehicle or facility from which you conduct business. You may be subject to a $50 penalty if you fail to properly display your Certificate of Authority.

Enhanced Or Real Id Non
You can now apply for an enhanced non-driver photo identification card or REAL ID in New York. An enhanced ID card can be used instead of your passport when returning by land or sea to the U.S. from Canada, Mexico, and parts of the Caribbean. A REAL ID is a federally recognized ID which will allow you to enter federal facilities or fly domestically starting October 1, 2021. Those options ARE NOT available with a standard ID.

Whats The Difference Between Enhanced Driver Licenses & Real Ids In New York
New York State now issues three types of identification cards: standard, REAL ID, and EDL. After the May 3, 2023 deadline kicks in, only REAL IDs and EDLs will be acceptable forms of identification on domestic flights. Consequently, your standard license will no longer be an accepted form of identification to board a domestic airline flight.
An EDL is simply another form of REAL ID. Penalties For Failing To Register For Sales Tax
If you are required to register for sales tax purposes but fail to do so and you operate a business without a valid Certificate of Authority, you will be subject to a penalty. The maximum penalty for operating a business without a valid Certificate of Authority is $10,000, imposed at the rate of up to $500 for the first day business is conducted without a valid Certificate of Authority, plus up to $200 per day for each day after. Getting Your Idnyc Card
You can schedule an appointment through IDNYC’s Online Portal to apply for an IDNYC in person at an IDNYC Enrollment Center or an IDNYC Pop-Up Enrollment Center. During your appointment, you will fill out an application and present proof of identity and New York City residency. Many types of documents are accepted, all of which are listed on the Document Calculator. After you submit your application and if your application is approved your card will be sent to you in the mail.
The IDNYC card is free for all New Yorkers. For cardholders 16 and older, cards are valid for five years from the date the application was approved. For cardholders under the age of 16, cards are valid for two years from the date the application was approved. IDNYC Middle School cards, issued to students at designated DOE middle schools, expire on the student’s graduation date. How Much Does A New York Real Id Cost
A REAL ID costs $65, the same price as a regular driver license or renewal. Meanwhile, and EDL costs $95, plus standard transaction fees. How Do You Get These Ids
Replacing or renewing a standard ID does not require a trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles, but obtaining a Real or enhanced ID does.
There is no extra cost for a Real ID, though the regular transaction fees still apply. An enhanced ID costs $30, though, on top of the regular transaction fees.
You can get a Real ID at any time by going to a DMV office with proof of identity, such as a valid license, birth certificate or passport proof of Social Security number or Social Security number ineligibility proof of date of birth proof of U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency or temporary lawful status in the U.S. and two different proofs of state residence.
If the name on your license, permit or non-driver ID does not match the name on your identity, lawful status and Social Security proofs, then you must also bring court- or government-issued records explaining that.
You can apply for an enhanced license at a DMV office. If you have never had a driver’s license before, you must apply for an enhanced learner permit first. If you don’t need to drive, you can apply for an enhanced non-driver ID.

You Won’t Be Able To Board Domestic Flights Without A Real Id Or Passport Beginning Later This Year Find Out How To Get One
NEW YORK STATE The deadline to get your New York ID upgraded to a REAL ID is quickly approaching. Come October, the REAL ID will be needed in order to board domestic flights in the United States.
The REAL ID is a federal program that establishes minimum security requirements for state-issued IDs. The REAL ID Act was passed in 2005, and the original deadline of October 2020 was set by President Donald Trump’s administration after the law was opposed by states under President George W. Bush and not enforced under President Barack Obama. That deadline was then extended by a year due to the coronavirus.
The program is opposed by the ACLU, which says it is a thinly veiled attempt to create a national ID. The ACLU also says the ID will allow the federal government to collect even more information on residents, as well as place a burden on state governments to issue the ID cards.

Why Are New Id Rules Being Enacted
Getting states to comply with the standards of the REAL ID Act took longer than expected, and DHS pushed back the timeline for states to implement the changes several times. Now, the final phase of REAL ID will be completed on May 3, 2023. This means that the TSA will require a REAL ID for passengers to fly on commercial, domestic flights. A regular driver license will no longer be a valid form of identification to board a plane after May 3, 2023.
From our perspective at TSA, REAL ID gives us another important tool in our security toolbox, explains Lisa Farbstein, a TSA spokesperson. It improves the reliability and accuracy of state-issued identification documents, and most importantly, prevents and deters terrorists ability to evade detection by using fraudulent identification.
The State Says Upgrade Soon
New Yorkers have until May 3, 2023 to get their IDs up to par, but the state is suggesting that people take care of it soon. In June 2018, the DMV launched a campaign to boost public awareness of the new ID requirements, and in summer 2018 it held a statewide promotional tour and social media initiative.
“Real ID is available at all DMV offices statewide and we encourage you to get your new license or non-driver ID today, especially if you are renewing or applying for the first time,” DMV Executive Deputy Commissioner Terri Egan said in a statement in June. “Getting a new Real ID requires an office visit, and we expect lines to grow as the deadline approaches. Don’t delay get your Real ID today!”
