Which Pass Is Best For New York

Go City New York Pass

Is CityPASS a SCAM or worth it?! The BEST NYC DISCOUNT PASS REVIEW

Go City have both day and attractions passes in several major cities around the world.

The Go City New York Pass is set up almost identically to New York Sightseeing Pass. Go City has a day based pass called the All-Inclusive Pass and an attractions based pass called the Explorer Pass.

Heres what you need to know:

  • Choose either an attractions or day based pass
  • Cost of passes is similar to Sightseeing Pass
  • Prices go up incrementally the more attractions or days you add
  • Use either pass in the same way as New York Sightseeing Pass

Overview Of The Main New York Attraction Passes

There are a number of attraction passes available for visitors to New York City. They each offer different things and are available at different prices.

Below, youll find an overview of the main passes you can choose from, and what they offer. There are two main types of pass those which include a larger number of attractions over a shorter time period , and those which offer a limited number of attractions over a longer period .

Which will work for you will very much vary on your trip and travel style, and what you hope to see. If you are visiting for only a couple of days and want to fit as much in as possible, then a pass that lets you visit a lot of attractions can be a good idea. Many New York attractions are open fairly late, so you really can see a lot if you have the stamina for it.

On the other hand, if you want to go a bit slower and just see a few attractions, or you plan to sightsee over a longer period of time, then a pass that offers fewer attractions over a longer time period might be best.

Weve included both types of pass in this round-up so you can get an idea of whats available.

If You Only Want To See Very Few Attractions

Best choice: buy individual tickets instead of a New York pass

If youd only like to visit a very few selected attractions or want to decide what youll see on short notice and prefer to be flexible, a pass is generally not worth it.

To avoid having to stand in never-ending lines everywhere you go, wed recommend that you always get your individual tickets online.

The Best New York Pass For First

Especially if you are in New York for the first time and want to see as many of the attractions and sights as possible, the day-based passes are a good idea. Here are my favorites the Sightseeing Pass NYC and the New York Pass.

They are quite similar and you will not go wrong with either one. The good thing about these sightseeing passes is that you can see as many attractions as you want or can manage!

Traveller #: As Much As Possible

What is the Best Sightseeing Pass for New York?

Are you one of the travelers who wants to see as much as possible in New York? Then the time based New York Passes are interesting for you.

A typical itinerary could look like this:

Empire State Building Top of the Rock One World Observatory Metropolitan Museum of Art MoMA Museum of Natural History Bicycle rentals in Central Park Hop-on-Hop-off-Bus tour Boat ride, for example with Circle Line 2 further attractions according to your interests 2 guided tours Total price: $490

In total, thats 15 attractions, which you can manage well over 7 days. For all of that, youd have to spend around 500 dollars for individual tickets.

In the following table, you can see how much youd save with one of the New York Passes.

Note: the New York Citypass and the Freestyle Pass arent made for this type of travel, since they both only include relatively few attractions. Weve therefore not included them in this table.

If you want to see a ton of attractions in New York and also have some time for that , then the New York Pass is the best option for you.

The savings with the New York Sightseeing Pass is only a little lower, so its worth taking a look at the included attractions. Your own itinerary will probably look a little different than our example itinerary.

Consider Time Of Year

New York City is a city thats bustling all year round so there is always something to do. However, youll spend a lot more time in museums during the dead of winter but youll probably spend a lot less time doing outdoor things like walking tours and Central Park. You might also not be interested in the Hop-On-Hop-Off although they are covered when it gets cold) and the water cruises. And, during the summer, you might be less inclined to do as many indoor things .
