Pennsylvania Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma

GED in New York 2022

Pennsylvanias CSSD is the states equivalency credential that can be earned by Pennsylvania residents who dont possess a secondary education degree .

The CSSD can be achieved by passing the four GED modular tests or the five HiSET modular tests. Applicants must be residents of Pennsylvania who are at least 16 years old and who are not registered for a private or public education program. Testers 18 and above can do so without any further restrictions but underage test-takers must additionally meet some rather strict requirements.

How To Prepare For The Ged Exam

In New York State, theres no requirement for students to first take and pass the GED Ready Test but getting optimally prepared is crucial. The Computer-based GED is quite rigorous. The passing score is set at a level that over 40% of all graduating high school seniors would not be able to pass the four GED tests on their first attempt.

There are numerous locations across New York State where prep classes are given and local book stores and libraries will also have enough prep material available. Then there are also some very good online programs available, for example, the online GED prep course developed by ONSEGO that will get you all set fast.

Keep in mind that online studying requires self-discipline, but it is a perfect option for students with busy agendas and those living in remote New York regions.

In 2014, New York State and NYC GED® test sites changed over to a new high school equivalency test, the Test Assessing Secondary Completion . The TASC is now the standard high school equivalency exam in the state of New York, and has been since January 2014, when the state declared the TASC the primary pathway to a New York High School Equivalency Diploma.

According to the New York State High School Equivalency Office, those who took the New York GED test anywhere in the state, including NYC GED test sites, can still apply their passing GED sub-test scores , to the completion of a New York High School Equivalency Diploma. Up to four passed GED subtests taken in 2012-2013 can be applied toward the HSE program through the end of 2015. If all five GED subtests have been passed, but the candidate did not achieve a score of 2250, the candidate must pass at least one TASC subtest in order to receive a high school equivalency diploma.

The GED is still offered at several sites throughout New Jersey, but New York residents are not eligible to take the New Jersey GED exam. According to the GEDs official policy, New Jersey candidates must prove they are state residents in order to take the exam.
