Pawnees 11-bed Crisis Stabilization Unit provides voluntary treatment for those experiencing an acute mental health or substance use crisis. Individuals receive intensive therapeutic services in a warm, supportive environment and then are assisted with transitioning into continuing care as needed.

Anyone experiencing a mental health crisis can come directly to the Crisis Stabilization Unit. We are located at 1558 Hayes Drive Suite A, Manhattan, KS 66502. Come to the front door, press a buzzer and a crisis clinician will meet with you to determine what services would best fit your needs. Those 18 years of age and older may be considered for care in our Crisis Stabilization Unit for ongoing assistance.

For many who need to utilize the CSU there is no payer source. Clients with Medicaid are fully covered. Clients with commercial insurance may have a copay/deductible and the insurance may not cover all services. Clients with no insurance are charged on a sliding scale based on income. Expenses that a client or 3rd party payer doesnt cover are written off by Pawnee. To ensure the viability of the CSU it is important that we find ways to reduce expenses while maintaining the high quality of care we provide to our clients.
What Should I Bring With Me
If you anticipate staying and/or being referred for hospitalization, we recommend you bring three changes of clothes, minimal valuables, and your own medications in bottles. If you do not have medications with you, we can often work with a local pharmacy to re-issue several days worth or you can have a friend or family member bring them later on.
