The Las Vegas Food Scene Is Really Impressive And The Special Dining Experiences Are Worth It

Las Vegas isn’t necessarily known for its food, but I was blown away by what I ate.
At Sadelle’s, everything is made from scratch, including delicious cream-cheese danishes, sticky buns, strawberry cakes, bagels, and house-smoked salmon.
The Mayfair Supper Club has a stage in the middle of the dining room with phenomenal live performers. With dishes including edible gold leaf and caviar on Wagyu rolls and chocolate cigars with pear and hazelnut, the food was extravagant.
At the new Taiwanese restaurant Din Tai Fung at Aria, I watched dumplings be made by hand through a window. And the eatery’s unbelievable chocolate dumplings and steam buns have been stuck in my head for months.

Some Notes About Making Your Nyc Trip Worth The Money Spent
My only caution in recommending New York so strongly is that its an expensive place to visit. Its not to say that you cannot visit New York on a budget , but accommodation isnt cheap. You can find some recommendations on where to stay in New York City for an affordable price, but it can add up. Food doesnt need to be expensive and you can definitely see plenty of things that are free, but it might be worth waiting until you have a bit more disposable income to enjoy New York without worrying about your budget.
I generally recommend five days in New York City to begin with, but you can certainly come for less time. I would recommend avoiding a day in New York as its far too little time, but I made an itinerary if thats all the time you have. A weekend is also a nice taster that will leave you hungry for more of New York and its delicious food.

Why I Read The New Yorker Magazine

While I read at least 52 books every year, I also make time to read The New Yorker magazine Read on to learn why
I was in my early 20s when I saw the New Yorker for the first time. Initially, I was nonplussed.
It was dull looking. The articles were long and seldom relieved by more than a single photo. The columns were narrow, like ones in newspapers. And the listings! Pages and pages of Goings On About Town. Could one town conceivably have so many pieces of theatre, art exhibits and jazz concerts showing at the same time? I was exactly 30 before I went to Manhattan and discovered that, indeed, it could.
Sadly, I was so put off by the magazines appearance I didnt read even a single article. It was my eventual visit to the city that finally turned me into a New Yorker magazine zealot.
My sister-in-law now gives my family a subscription each year for Christmas. Its both a gift and a massive commitment. Each issue contains what is likely a months worth of reading material – and yet the damn thing comes out every week. There are five so-called special issues which cover two weeks but which contain almost double the material.
I feel the same way, but I have three lets call them survival strategies:
1) I will not turn reading the New Yorker into a chore. I read what I feel like and in the order I feel like. This is a bit like turning my house into a doctors waiting room, but Im okay with that.
A Review Of My New Yorker Subscription
I read about a hundred words each minute. It rings impressive, but its less than twenty pages an hour in a typical book. I stumbled through a history of the Russian Revolution for weeks at about eleven pages an hour. If my wife enjoys a book, shell lie in bed on a Saturday and devour three hundred pages in a single sitting. The Hunger Games certainly goes a bit faster than Anna Karenina, but even Tolstoy is no match for her interest piqued. We have very different tastes so its hard to compare, but we recently went over some legal documents together: she easily reads three or four times faster than I. Shes an exceptionally fast reader, but I confirmed what I always suspected. Im also quite slow.
If pressed for favorite books or essays, I choose from the lines buried deep in my dark mind. George Orwells criticism of contemporary English poetry faded long ago, but Ill use the phrase Hard cheese, old chap! until my dying breath. I remember only the gist of James Baldwins Fifth Avenue, Uptown but it rushes back each time I think of our long history of moral evasion. Ta-Nehisi Coates argued in an slapdash post of political fare that hope still lies in the imagined thing. Im a weird reader, slow and hooked by beautiful words more than a clever plot or powerful message. I dont think about it until my wife walks down the hall and announces the completion of a book in the time it took me to claw through a handful of essays.

View Of The World Cover
Saul Steinberg created 85 covers and 642 internal drawings and illustrations for the magazine. His most famous work is probably its March 29, 1976, cover, an illustration most often referred to as “View of the World from 9th Avenue“, sometimes referred to as “A Parochial New Yorker’s View of the World” or “A New Yorker’s View of the World”, which depicts a map of the world as seen by self-absorbed New Yorkers.
The illustration is split in two, with the bottom half of the image showing Manhattan‘s 9th Avenue, 10th Avenue, and the Hudson River , and the top half depicting the rest of the world. The rest of the United States is the size of the three New York City blocks and is drawn as a square, with a thin brown strip along the Hudson representing “Jersey”, the names of five cities and three states scattered among a few rocks for the United States beyond New Jersey. The Pacific Ocean, perhaps half again as wide as the Hudson, separates the United States from three flattened land masses labeled China, Japan and Russia.

The Seven Magic Mountains Are Worth Visiting And Are Even More Impressive In Real Life

I wasn’t sure whether the drive out to see the Seven Magic Mountains art installation would be worth it, but I quickly found out it was. It’s also very easy to get to right off the road.
This desert art installation features seven large colorful, painted rock stacks towering about 35 feet. The artist, Ugo Rondinone, did a fabulous job bringing these rocks to life with vibrant colors.
I definitely recommend going at sunset.

Over the past couple of years, Ive let every one of my magazine subscriptions lapse.
Part of it is that it became expensive, and I needed to reduce expenses. But more often than not, I wasnt making time to read them. Theyd pile up and the days would go by as they remained unread.

The Hotels Are An Experience Not Just A Place To Crash
It seems as if every hotel has an intense theme, but for my first time in Vegas I stayed at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino, known for its fountain show.
During the coronavirus pandemic, various sections of the hotel were renovated. The rooms were comfortable with astonishing views.
The resort had huge pools surrounding towering fountains where I could rent a chair, grab an iced coffee or a cocktail, and cool off. Across from the pool, there was an art gallery and shops to explore.
I felt as if I were in Tulum rather than Nevada. The lobby too had colorful blown glass all over the ceiling in front of the atrium filled with gorgeous flowers and statues.
