Day Trip Companies From Nyc

We are in NYC for a while next May so we might consider doing a day trip. I have seen two online. One to Washington to see the main sights and another to Philadephia and Amish country.

I have a couple of questions for anyone who can answer:

1) Are there any places in NYC to book these trips when we arrive? From my experience companies online tend to be much more expensive. We dont want a private tour. I prefer to be on a group tour.

2) If anyone has been on the Washington trip do you actually get to go for a tour of the Whitehouse etc or do you just stop outside places to take photos?

Edited: 3 years ago

You need to understand that going by train would be faster than taking a bus as well as no more expensive as long as you buy train tickets well in advance. The buses to Philly and DC are on some of the most crowded roads in the country and subject to very heavy traffic and delays due to accidents or bad weather and often arrive late as well as having longer scheduled times.

DC is a very long day trip and to add that to the delays of bus travel you would have very limited time to see/do things there.

Also I don t see who/how many you are. If there are any young children I think such long bus tours are a really bad idea.

As for your specific question google will tell you easily enough.

Sorry, but the bus to Washington is significantly cheaper than the train, even if you book the train well in advance.

After A Very Difficult Competition And A Borderline Identity Crisis I Decided The Tomato Pie Was More Delicious Than A Typical New York Slice

The tomato pie won me over with its flavorful and rich sauce, its crunchy and bread-like crust, and its lack of cheese topping. Although a typical New York slice or Sicilian pie will always have a special place in my heart , I can confidently say that I prefer Philadelphias tomato pie even though my entire family and probably most New Yorkers would call me crazy.

But I have to go where the taste buds take me, and this time, theyre taking me to a small bakery in Philadelphia.
