Does New York Times Have Coupon Inserts

What Are Sunday Newspaper Coupons

How & where I buy/find coupons (inserts) in 2021!! Couponing 101

Inside each Sunday paper are coupon booklets, also known as freestanding inserts. There are four different inserts that come out on a regular basis: Smart Source , Save , Unilever Super Saver Coupons , and Procter & Gamble .

Even with the recent growth of printable and mobile coupons, Sunday newspaper coupons still account for about one-third of the total coupons redeemed. Values usually range from $0.25 to $2 off a product.

Using Coupons For Business: An Overview

Coupons can drive customers to your business, boost existing customer engagement, and generate new revenue. Physical coupons can be introduced in your store, while digital coupons can be offered through marketing messages on a business website and social media promotions.

It’s estimated that 60% of consumers are likely to try a new product as a result of a coupon, while 46% said they’d change their planned purchase.

Whether a coupon is designed to entice a customer to visit a brick-and-mortar store or a company’s webpage, coupons can be an effective way to grow sales revenue. However, it’s important to develop a strategy when introducing coupons to your customers since they can lead to a lower profit per sale, despite generating new revenue.

Should You Try Couponing

Yes, couponing takes a bit of leg work and effort to begin, but once you get it up and running it can turn into a well-oiled machine thats easy to maintain.

Remember that coupons expire, usually in about a month, so go through your collection every once in a while and toss the old ones. I could go on and on about the various ways you can arrange your coupons to get better deals. Now, having done it for so long, I cant fathom how I ever paid full price for things. When in doubt, visit TheKrazyCouponLady for advice. She is a couponing ninja, and has managed to stay fabulous through it all.

Manufacturer Coupons Vs Store Coupons

Another thing to remember is that there are two different types of coupons. There are MANUFACTURER coupons, which are usually the kind that come in the paper. They are for the product, but do not list a store specifically.

These can be used pretty much everywhere, and the majority of what youre dealing with should be manufacturer coupons . There are also STORE coupons- these are coupons that the store is putting out themselves . Target, Walgreens, and the like put these out pretty regularly.

Look For Free Local Papers Like Your Essential Shopper

Some cities publish free local newspapers that carry coupon inserts. One newspaper, called Yes!, is found in several cities and is actually delivered right to your door for free. To see if Yes! is delivered in your area, just search for your essential shopper and see what comes up.

Sometimes you can spot free local papers like these around town on Sunday morning just be sure to only grab a few from each location. You dont want to wipe out the entire supply in one spot.

Check Out The Post Office Recycle Bin

In many cities, coupons are delivered in the U.S. Postal Service mail – without the newspaper. If you live in one of those cities, take a moment each week to check out your local post office for people’s extras.

People who get their mail in PO boxes often throw their coupons inserts in the recycle bin. You can easily gather up those unwanted coupons and expand your collection.

  • Ask Gas Station And Convenience Store Managers If You Can Have Their Unsold Sunday Paper Coupons

Check with the gas stations and convenience stores around town. In some cities, the gas stations only have to give the first page of the unsold paper back to the carrier. What do they do with the rest of the leftover papers? Toss them in the trash!

Ask the manager if theyd save the newspapers for you . Unfortunately, this trick doesnt work everywhere some newspaper carriers actually come and collect all of the old papers.

Whats The Best Way To Get Sunday Coupon Inserts

    Carpe Diem

I suggest you subscribe or purchase more than one copy of the Sunday newspaper to get multiples of each coupon. You should have one copy of the Sunday paper for each member of your family, or four copies total, whichever is less.

The first step to finding a subscription is to call your local papers circulation department and ask them which coupon inserts they carry, if they offer a Sunday-only or weekend-only subscription, and if they offer a discount for ordering multiple copies of the Sunday paper. Some newspapers also sell a Saturday advance paper that has coupons, but for the lower Saturday cost. Occasionally you can get a Sunday newspaper subscription deal through Groupon.

You can also check out your local Dollar Tree they often carry the Sunday newspaper for only $1.25. Walmart carries the Sunday paper all week, but the sticker price is at least $2. Keep in mind, there may be limits on how many you can buy.

Disadvantages Of Using Coupons For Business

The biggest con of using coupons is that they cost your business money. Any discount you offer will mean less money in your pocket. The key is to calculate whether that discount will make a difference to your profit margin by introducing new customers to your store or bringing back old customers who may have gone elsewhere chasing other coupons. In TheNew York Times column, Jay Goltz, Doing the Math on a Groupon Deal, developed a method to calculate whether or not a coupon discount is worth it for your business.

But that tool is getting ever harder to come by. In 2021, Kantar Media estimates, 168 billion circulated, across both print and digital formats. That was down from about 294 billion in 2015. The shrinking coupon market includes not just the number of coupons distributed but also the share turned in at checkout. Redemption rates declined to 0.5% of all print and digital coupons in 2020 from about 3.5% in the early 1980s, according to a paper by economists at Harvard University, Georgetown University and Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf.

The economists see a larger phenomenon: Increasingly time-strapped consumers don’t want to deal with even small hassles to save a few dollars on toothpaste.

“The declining use of coupons and the declining redemption rates indicate a fundamental shift in consumer shopping behavior,” the authors wrote. They added, “We view this as additional evidence that declining price sensitivity reflects a longer-run secular trend.”

At the same time, mobile phones have made all kinds of other incentives possible, including cash-back rewards and contest prizes.

“Practitioners often want to get discounts to consumers in a seamless manner,” said Eric Anderson, a professor of marketing at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. “It’s not clear that traditional coupons do this.”

Dont Hesitate To Try New Things

That said- dont be afraid to branch out. Brand loyalty can be the death of a couponer.

Say you like Garnier shampoo, but you get to the store and discover that you can get LOreal shampoo for .75 cents cheaper. TRY IT. I have discovered some awesome products this way. I recently ran out of milk and went to the store to buy more. I usually like Hood Simply Smart milk, but I had coupons for So Delicious Coconut Milk so I gave it a try and guess whats really good? Coconut milk.

Remember- each store is different, and its the stores right to have whatever couponing policy it prefers . Dont expect your corner bodega to accept coupons- stick to the chain stores that have clear policies. If you can, pay a visit to the website of the store in advance and print off a copy of their policy to familiarize yourself with it.

There are times you may feel like youre robbing the store, but you always want to keep everything entirely legal, or its not truly a victory. My favorite store to coupon at is Stop and Shop- because their coupon policy actually allows them to DOUBLE COUPONS up to .99 cents. Thats right If I come in with a .75 cent coupon, they will take $1.50 off the product. That has added up to some pretty remarkable savings in the past.

If youre anywhere nearby, I highly recommend starting your couponing education there!

    Cash Back Grocery Coupons

Business: Home Green Home: Fireplace Inserts | The New York Times

25.) Since Cash Back Grocery Coupon Programs are relatively new, and many people don’t yet know about them, and/or don’t know how to use them, I wanted to tell you about them. We’ve all gotten use to paper coupons and these new-fangled ideas scare many of us, so we’re slow to try them. Well, I don’t want you to miss out on the savings, so I want to teach you how to use the newer ways to save, and most of the new Cash Back programs are really easy to use! Although Checkout 51 may be one of the easiest to use, there are several other great Cash Back Programs/Apps available, such as SavingStar, ibotta and Snap by Groupon.

It’s yet another way to save on groceries. We already had Sales/BOGOs/etc., Manufacturer’s Coupons, Store Coupons/Loyalty Cards and now we have Cash Back! It’s truly a great thing! Keep in mind, this cash back savings is “in addition to” or “on top of” any money you save with sales and other coupons!

Best of all, these are not additional coupons that you have to take to the grocery store and there’s no stacking or match-ups involved. It’s very easy. Some of the programs can only be used on your cell/mobile phone, and others, like Checkout 51 can be used on your computer, tablet or mobile phone. Plus, these cash back programs normally offer cash back for items that you almost never get regular coupons for, like: fruits, bread, vegetables, milk and eggs! So don’t be skerd , give them a try. I’ve also provided “How To Use” pages for these programs.

    Did Your Coupons Disappear

    • Jill Cataldo | Super-Couponing

Ive received a great deal of emails recently from readers wondering where their coupons have gone. Many have accurately pointed out that the majority of coupons currently found in the newspaper inserts have been focused on nonfood items everything from vitamins to haircare to cleaning products.

While these emails encompass one factor of missing-coupons concerns, another group of readers have pointed out they are missing entire coupon inserts that they previously received. I strongly sympathize with these readers, as around March of this year, my own local newspaper eliminated one of the two coupon inserts that used to come together nearly every Sunday morning.

I called the newspaper, and the representative I spoke with said the paper had eliminated the Save coupon insert due to a new marketing strategy. I was disappointed to hear this. During the next couple of months, I received emails from readers who also lived in my immediate area they too were sad to see this coupon insert disappear from Sundays paper.

In September, I received a postcard from this same newspaper with a new promotional rate for both the Wednesday and Sunday newspaper delivery. I was previously only subscribed to Sunday delivery, so I was excited about getting the midweek issue as well.

The newspaper representative didnt have an answer to that question.

    Coupons For Shopping Query

I was recommended by an American friend to buy a newspaper on Sunday whilst in NYC to get some good coupons. Does anyone know which is the best one to get please?

I’ve signed up for email newsletters which send some out, but was told this was a good way to get a good discount for places like Macy’s, apart from getting the Visitors’ discount instore.

Are you in Chesterfield, as in Chesterfield, Virginia, or Chesterfield England? I assume you are in another country. The Daily News and the New York Times have advertising inserts, but many of the ads are for food discounts at grocery stores. Some are for chain clothing stores that you won’t even see in Manhattan, like Kohl’s Clothing store chain. There will be ads for large stores like Macy’s and sometimes a coupon suitable for cutting out.

Discounts cardboard coupons for clothing usually are sent to department store and national chain store credit card holders, which it is unlikely that you are one. And small stores, where much shopping is done in New York, will may have discounts in the ads in the newspapers but not have coupons.

This is the last thing to think about in New York, buying a 4-lb Sunday paper to save money on dishwashing liquid or sour cream. Maybe others have other insights.

    • Neighborhood Recycling Bins: In areas where the laws permit it, many couponers will walk the neighborhood in the evening when people place their newspaper recycle bins on the curb. One man’s trash can become a coupon clipper’s treasure, but be sure to check the laws for examining other peoples trash in your area first.
    • Public Places: Look for abandoned newspapers in public places such as airports, hotels, waiting rooms, commuter trains, coffee houses, and restaurants.
