Best Gel Pillow For Back And Side Sleepers
Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Ergo Cooling Neck Pillow

This cooling pillow from Tempur-Pedic is contoured meaning the edges of the pillow are higher than the middle and designed to help relieve neck and shoulder discomfort.
It also has gel-infused memory foam that reviewers say is cool, but doesnt send them to bed shivering.
While this product is ergonomically designed to relieve tension, its intended for back and side sleepers who prefer to doze on denser and thicker pillows.
Because its also categorized as a neck cushion, its smaller than a standard pillow, so expect some wiggle room in your pillowcase.
In testing, we found that this cooling pillow helped us stay asleep longer. It took us 2 nights to get used to this shape, though. So, if you dont currently use a contour pillow, it might take a little adjusting before you can drift off to sleep with ease.

Luxury Cooling Pillow Loft
As I said, Brooklyn Bedding Luxury Cooling pillows come in two options: high profile and low profile. These terms refer to the pillows loft , and the high profile pillow has a loft of 5 inches, and the low profile pillows loft is slightly under 4 inches. So, why make two identical pillows with different lofts?
Well, when it comes topicking the right pillow for your preferred position, height matters. In order to keep healthy posture, side sleepers typically need a pillow with higher loft, stomach sleepers need a pillow with lower loft, and back sleepers can kind of float in between. Sure enough, in my experience testing these pillows, it was clear that the high profile pillow was intended for side sleepers, and the low profile was made for stomach sleepers.
Again, I tested this pillow in a high loft.
Side I felt comfortable in this position! I felt that the pillow cradled my head nicely and kept it in line with my shoulders. However, I will say that if I suffered from neck pain, I think I might want a slightly higher loft pillow for side sleeping.
Back This was the most enjoyable position. I felt the pillow conforming around my neck and head, providing me with just enough lift. I think all back sleepers would really like this pillow.
Stomach This position was not comfortable, but I was testing the higher loft version of this pillow. Id recommend stomach sleepers opt for the low loft version.
What Does The Brooklyn Bedding Luxury Cooling Pillow Feel Like
The first thing I noticed about this pillow is that the memory foam feels a bit like latex. As is often the case with memory foam, this pillow does conform tightly to pressure, and cradles my head and neck in a very cozy way. However, it offers a very quick response to pressure, which is typically more of a latex thing!
Now, if youve ever slept on a latex pillow, you know they tend to provide a lighter, more buoyant kind of support as compared to memory foam. And in my opinion, this Brooklyn Bedding pillow seems to blend bothlatex and memory foam traits. So, if you enjoy the pressure relief of memory foam, but dont enjoy the deep, slow sink it often provides, then this pillow might be right up your alley.

So just remember: this pillow does not offer a classic memory foam feel. Its got a quick response to pressure, and lets you rest on top of the pillow rather than deeply nestle into it.
- Those after a fully washable pillow. While its great that the pillow has a machine washable cover, the foam inside is spot clean only. Even then, you should only wash it with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Basically, do your very best to keep the foam from getting wet, or it could damage the material.

There is a potential for off-gassing, so if youre sensitive to odors you may want to consider other options.
BuckwheatBuckwheat pillows are filled with the hulls of buckwheat seeds. The hulls have an open shape that promotes airflow and helps regulate temperature. Are Gel Pillows Good
The pillow world seems to be somewhat divided on whether or not gel infused into pillows helps keep it cool. Ive had some gel pad pillows work really well, including the TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze Dual Cooling pillow that offers the same gel panels at the TEMPUR-Cloud Cooling Pro pillow that made my list.Ive also slept on plenty of foam pillows that are infused with gel and havent really noticed a big difference with those. Therefore, I am hesitant to say definitively that gel is always a good idea with a pillow, it truly depends on the quality of the brand, the gel theyre using and how theyre using it!
