Ocean Beach Fire Island Long Island
The Scene: Amid the summer hustle of the famous barrier island lies Ocean Beach, on the west end and flanked by Great South Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Fewer than 300 people live in the community full time, but the population swells tenfold in the summer. Fire Island is known for its diversity of lifestyles and entertainment, but Ocean Beach is perhaps the most family-friendly of the dozen or so popular communities. Like most of Fire Island, it is car-free. Locals get around on foot or bike to small shops, galleries, restaurants, ice cream parlors, the movie house, and beaches. Hotels and inns are available for weekends or vacations. Fair warning, however: The beach is radio-, alcohol-, and food-free.
Attractions and Bathrooms: Warm ocean currents make the water inviting early in the summer and long into the fall. On the bay side, the village marina provides anchorage for boaters. Water sports opportunities, including swimming, fishing, surfing, boating, and windsurfing, are seemingly everywhere. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, and the community hosts a summer camp for kids 3-13 and a CIT program for 14-year-olds. There are public restrooms in the village and a few conspicuously placed stations along the beach newcomers should ask a lifeguard for locations.
Cost: Beach access is FREE, but bring cash. There are very few ATMs in Ocean Beach.

What New York Beaches Will Be Open Memorial Day Weekend
State-run beaches including Jones Beach, Robert Moses, Gilgo, Sunken Meadow, Orient Beach and Shadmoor in Long Island will open at 50% capacity. Local officials must monitor capacity by controlling beach parking lots and beach entrances. Contact sports on all beaches like football and volleyball will also be prohibited, Governor Cuomo said. Pools, playgrounds and concessions will also remain closed to prevent people from gathering in crowds. Beaches run by the federal National Park Service like Jacob Riis Park and Ft. Tilden Beach in Queens, are already accessible and partially open for walking and running. But, Brenda Ling, the Public Affairs officer for NPSs Gateway National Recreation Area told the New York Post it’s not yet clear if they will have lifeguards, which is why they are only considered partially-opened right now.

Jacob Riis Beach Queens
The Scene: Nicknamed the “People’s Beach,” this shore just west of Rockaway is enjoying a resurgence thanks to its vibe and out-of-the-city feel. Expect lots of 20-somethings, along with families, many of whom pitch tents and stay the whole day.
Attractions and Bathrooms: Managed by the National Park Service, Jacob Riis is home to an Art Deco bathhouse that now houses the aforementioned Bazaar. There’s also golf, ball courts, and great kite flying, thanks to the ocean breeze. As for bathrooms, there are two on the East Beach and one on the Westall fairly spacious and clean. Want to stay the night? Try glamping at nearby Fort Tilden via Camp Rockaway.
Food: The eats at the Bazaar are artisanal and expensive, but delicious. Think Ample Hills ice cream, homemade barbecue, and fresh seafood, plus alcohol. You can also rent beach chairs and umbrellas here, but there’s a limited supply.
Cost: The beach is FREE, but there’s a $20 parking fee if you drive.
Operating Hours: Daily 6am-10pm
Getting There: If you’re a masochist, you can take the 2 subway train to the Q35 bus. For the rest of us, the ferry from downtown Manhattan’s Pier 11 is the best option, though 2021 service has yet to start. You can also catch an NYC Ferry to a free shuttle bus or the aforementioned Q35.

Its like a cold lake. Better to just jump straight in, instead of putting first your feet to get used to the water. You might never get inHahaha!
Every single person at the beach is extremely respectful, no one is making fun, or talking or even stopping to look at other people. They are just enjoying the day, chatting with friends, sunbathing and refreshing in the ocean.
I didnt see any sign that said No Cameras, but I do think its implicit that no one should be taking pictures or recording anything, right? My recommendations is to just forget about your phone and enjoy your time there.
The sensation? Its actually extremely liberating! You just feel free and in peace with yourself and your body. Everyone there is beautiful the way they are and no one is there to judge.

Part of the Fire Island National Seashore, Kismet Beach is a quick ferry trip from Bay Shore , or a short walk after driving to Robert Moses State Park. Vehicles arent allowed on most of Fire Island, making it the perfect getaway for those sick of city traffic. Kismet is often less densely populated than Robert Moses, with low crashing waves and plenty of fresh air.

I Had Never Been To Nude Beaches In New York Before Or Anywhere Else Actually But I Have To Say That I Was Always Curious To See What It Would Be Like I Mean I Think Many People Also Have This Curiosity But Like Me Never Really Had The Guts To Go
Thankfully I have a great group of friends that planned a special Sunday for us this past weekend! The weather was perfect, the sky was as blue as it could get and I decided to give it a go!
Result: I loved it and cant wait to explore another nude beach!
So, I decided to write this post to share my experience, tell you about prepping for the day, share some dos and donts, and list you a few places to go in New York and around!
We actually went to a beach called Gunnison Beach, in Sandy Hook, New Jersey. Gunnison is known for being the only legal nude beach in the State, plus its a LGBTQ+ friendly spot too. Its known as one of the oldest and best nude beaches on the East Coast to go to.
The gay-friendly section of the beach is mostly near the parking lot, but you can see families and straight people enjoying the day too. One of the cool things at the beach is that even though it is encouraged to just go full on naked, its optional.
Asbury Park New Jersey
The historic shore town of Asbury Park, built in the late 1800s, features one of the best beaches in New Jersey. The mile-long revitalized boardwalk, lined with artsy shops and restaurants, ends with the main highlight-the beautifully restored Paramount Theater and Convention Hall. Here, you can catch a show, attend a festival, and even do a little shopping.
Asbury has something for everyone, including a glassblowing studio, Silverball Retro Arcade, Asbury Splash Park with plenty of kid-friendly attractions, and the newly opened Asbury Lanes bowling.
The beach costs $7 on weekends and $5 on weekdays, and it can be reached via New Jersey Transit Coast Line, with a change at Long Branch, and by grabbing an Uber or Lyft to the beach.

Rockaway Beach And Boardwalk Queens

Rockaway Beach is one of the best beaches located within the New York City limits, offering a spot to lay out with significantly less foot traffic than Coney Island. Rockaway Beach also has a boardwalk and is home to the only two stretches of shoreline in NYC that are appropriate for surfing.
Rockaway Beach is located in Queens from Beach 1st Street in Far Rockaway to Beach 149th Street in Neponsit. If you’re flying into John F. Kennedy International Airport, Rockaway Beach is just a 10-minute cab ride. It you’re heading over from Manhattan, you’ll need to take the subway or a ferry service to get there.
From Manhattan, you can take the Rockaway Parkway-bound A train to Broad Channel anytime day or night, or you can board a New York Beach Ferry from Pier 11 on Wall Street on Saturdays and Sundays only for $30 round-trip.The ferry service is a fun option. You can sit on the top deck with a glass of rose and start relaxing before even getting to sand.
