At the center of Hear Me Now, a revelatory exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, stands a majestic artifact: a stoneware storage jar that may qualify as one of 19th-century Americas great sculptures. It measures over two feet high, with a slightly rippling surface layered with drips of glaze in contrasting earth tones. The jar, from the collection of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark., was created by a gifted enslaved artisan now called David Drake, but who was known for decades only as Dave the Potter or Dave. Organized with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, this show is the first in the Northeast to explore the work of Drake and other enslaved potters who worked in the two dozen potteries operating in the Old Edgefield district of South Carolina through much of the 19th century. Bike The Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway

Bronx Zoo Holiday Light Show
The Bronx Zoos sparkling seasonal celebration featuring animated lights and LED displays of animals from around the world is back this year.
Expect the zoo to have 360 wildlife lanterns representing 90 species spread across an expansive area of the zoo. Six lantern trails that depict scenes from geographic regions and ecosystems: North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, oceans, and the Forest of Color which features larger-than-life representations of some of the lesser known but impressively colorful animals and plants vital to the Earths ecosystems.
Holiday Lights will run at the Bronx Zoo on select dates through January 8.

After two years of outdoor play, Carreau Club, the nations first pétanque bar has expanded with an indoor location with more space to get your game on while sipping a drink.
The new indoor venue is now open at Brooklyn’s Industry City, just in time for chillier fall temperatures. For the uninitiated, pétanque is a bocce-ball style French boules sport gaining popularity in the U.S., starting here in NYC.
Carreau Club operates primarily as a walk-in pétanque club and reservations are not required. But you can book a court in advance for a single party or multiple courts for larger groups. Reservations cost $50/court/hour.

One of the best places to check out in Downtown Brooklyn is the New York Transit Museum.
Its located underground, in a former subway station.
Visitors are fascinated by the displays of New York transit vehicles from the not-so-recent-past.
Although this station is no longer in use, its been given considerable respect that makes it a wonderful museum spot.
You can see discontinued subway cars, trolleys, buses and more.
If it wasnt for your smartphone, you might forget what time period youre in.
Transit has made NYC what it is today, and even if the vehicles seen at this museum are no longer in use, their legacy must always be respected.
This museum is open from Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, ages two to 17, and seniors, ages 62 and up.
