SYRACUSE, N.Y. Southwest Airlines will begin offering daily flights out of Syracuse Hancock International Airport this November.
Thats good news for people looking to book direct flights to Orlando or Baltimore/Washington. There will also be service to more than 50 cities through connecting flights from the Baltimore airport.
Southwest will initially offer three daily flights to Baltimore/Washington starting Nov. 14, and weekly Saturday flights to Orlando beginning Nov. 20.
We are beyond thrilled to welcome Southwest Airlines as they launch their first ever daily service here at SYR, said SYR Executive Director, Jason Terreri. This is such a win for our community who have been telling us for years that they want Southwest at SYR. With this new nonstop service, our community will have access to more than 40 destinations within the Southwest network. Southwest Adds International Routes
Southwest is also adding several international routes to the cities it serves.
On Nov. 13, the airline will begin international service to Kansas City, Missouri, with seasonal flights to Cancun. Southwest will offer seasonal nonstop service between Cancun and Chicago OHare International Airport, starting Nov. 7.
The airline plans to have resumed flights to all of its previously served international destinations by Nov. 7, including Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Belize City, Belize.
In the US., Southwest announced it would resume service to Jackson, Mississippi.
Bookings for all of the airline’s destinations have been opened up through Jan. 5, 2022.

Southwest Airlines has added flight services to Syracuse Hancock Airport, to begin this coming November.
The announcement comes just days after Sen. Chuck Schumer advocated for the airline to extend their services to Syracuse, citing it as the only upstate airport without it.
Central New York residents have been known to drive to other cities to take advantage of Southwestâs fares and alternate destinations.
âTodayâs news, landing Southwest in Syracuse, is no small peanuts,” said Senator Schumer in a statement Thursday. âAnd letâs not forget, the decision by Southwest to finally land in Syracuse solidifies years of hard work by all of us to get the airport in tip-top shape â inside and out. The federal funds weâve used to make the Syracuse airport the crown of regional and affordable travel ensures jewels of service like Southwest are here to stay, with more to come.â
At this time, a terminal and gate for Southwest have not been set, but hopeful travelers can look forward to more options at Hancock by November 14.
Flights will be bookable from SYR to O’Hare and Baltimore, which means you can get to a lot of other places, such as Miami, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale and Dallas.

Southwest Airlines plans to begin flying in and out of Syracuse this fall, bringing its low-cost airfares to Central New York, according to U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer.
The Dallas-based airline confirmed this morning it will begin daily flights Nov. 14 from Syracuses Hancock International Airport.
Southwest said it will initially offer up to three daily flights each way between Syracuse and Baltimore-Washington International Airport , allowing travelers to reach more than 50 destinations on same-plane or connecting service. Fares start at $49 each way.
Our latest destination in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York not only allows New Yorkers easier access to our growing network, but brings the offerings of Upstate New York to our existing customers, said Southwest Executive Vice President Andrew Watterson.
Southwests decision ends a 20-year effort by Syracuse airport officials and Schumer to lure the airline to Central New York.
Schumer spoke with Southwest CEO Gary Kelly last week, encouraging him to add Syracuse to the airlines network. Syracuse is the only large city in Upstate New York thats not served by the airline.
Schumer said he told Kelly that Southwest was missing out on a potentially large and loyal market of business and leisure travelers in Central New York.
