Founder Jane Lockhart began the business by baking out of her house with support of family and friends, selling her delicious desserts to Los Angeles restaurants. Her reputation grew and on May 5, 1988 the Sweet Lady Jane bakery opened its doors.

Toddrickallen reports that Sweet Lady Jane will be replacing Cinderella Cakes at 214 S. Beverly Dr. in Beverly Hills.

Sweet Lady Jane Chief Operating Officer Marty Breverman could not be reached for comment ahead of publication.

From One Sweet Treat To Another Sweet Lady Jane Will Replace The Susie Cakes In Calabasas

CALABASAS, CA After seeing immense success at its Encino location, premium cake shop Sweet Lady Jane is coming to Calabasas in November.

The bakery will replace Susie Cakes across the street from the Calabasas Commons. The store will open Nov. 11, though due to COVID-19 health concerns the opening will likely be quiet, said Marty Breverman, Chief Operating Officer. When it’s safer to do so, the store will have a ribbon cutting with founder Jane Lockhart and Calabasas Chamber of Commerce.

Sweet Lady Jane has been looking to expand in the West Valley for years, Breverman said, and the Calabasas location has been in the works for months Breverman had initially hoped to open the Calabasas store in September, but pandemic complications slowed the process down.

Sweet Lady Jane Bringing Triple Berry Cake To Beverly Hills

I first learned of Cinderella Cakes arrival to 214 S Beverly Dr. in Beverly Hills back in Summer of 2019. Sadly, they have vacated the location, leaving an opportunity for a new star bakery. Theres now a notice on the front that this will be the new home of a branch of ever-popular Sweet Lady Jane. And according to their website, they will soon be bringing their signature Triple Berry Cakes to Manhattan Beach as well.

The bakery recently opened two other Los Angeles locations, one in Beverly Hills in June and Manhattan Beach in July. Currently, its only location in the West Valley is Encino, which has been growing for the seven years it has been on Ventura Boulevard. The Calabasas store will be the sixth Sweet Lady Jane in Los Angeles.

Although they haven’t had a local spot, Calabasas residents have still found ways to show Sweet Lady Jane their love. Breverman said he has many Calabasas regulars at other locations, who have popped over during construction and come into other stores to share how excited they are to get their favorite cakes closer to home.

The French press coffee is so good…but those desserts. Wow! I will order one of their cakes one day…gorgeous!! Nice cafe foods as well. Seating is limited there is also sidewalk seating so bring layers for chilly days as the heat lamps are also limited.

Bustling corner bakery and coffee shop. Tons of cakes and baked items. Counter order and they bring your order to your table. Linzer tart was perfectly soft and tasty. Not overly sweet. Coffee was also good.

This bakery was very good. Worth every penny. I had the bacon and cheese scramble with a chocolate croissant. My wife enjoyed a bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich, which I had a taste of and it was all very good. We even took home some other pastries before we left. Loved the small bakery atmosphere but even better was the service and just the quality of food they have there. Would go back if I’m ever in the area!

This is literally a sweet neighborhood sanctuary. The have a lovely Christmas music playlist, friendly staff, and of course award-winning cakes. One of my favorites is the Chocolate Strawberry. Yum and Um! And, their open until 10pm and have outdoor seating with heat lamps.
