How Long Does It Take To Complete Home Health Aide Training
Home health aide training programs are allowed 60 days from the day an individual enters the program to complete the 75 hours. The 75 hours includes 59 hours classroom and 16 hours of supervised practical training as follows:
Home Care Curriculum – 40 hours
Health Related Task Curriculum– 35 hours . At a minimum, fifty percent of each trainee’s supervised practical training must be provided in a patient care setting. See page 4 of the Guide for further information.

- Evaluation of the supervised practical training site
- Student evaluation of the program, including effectiveness of communication between instructor and students

The New York State Department of Health and/or the New York State Education Department approve Home Health Aide Training Programs.
Agencies must choose to operate home health aide training programs under the approval of either the New York State Department of Health or the New York State Education Department. It is important to note that only an individual who is listed in the home care services registry maintained by the Department of Health may perform advanced tasks and hold himself or herself out as an AHHA.

Home health aide training programs need to clearly state its goals and objectives and must include measurable performance criteria.
While the home health aide scope of tasks in New York are typical of those in other states, the curriculum must include the content outlined below:
- orientation to home care and the role of home health aides
- understanding basic human needs of individuals and families including understanding the elderly, infants and children, persons with physical illnesses, persons with physical disabilities and persons with mental disabilities

Am I Eligible For Cdpap
There are three important criteria that must be met to be eligible:

Do Training Programs Have To Do Anything To Maintain Ongoing Approval Of Their Home Health Aide Training Program
The training program must conduct one full 75-hour training program class every three years, and approve and issue at least one original certificate per year in order to remain an active approved program. This would include a certificate issued for Competency Evaluation Program, Personal Care Aide Upgrading or CNA Transitioning.
Who Issues Certificates To The Individuals Who Complete The Requirements Of The Home Health Aide Training Program
The home health aide training program issues the home health aide certificates upon successful completion of the program. The Home Care Registry generates certificates for aides trained after September 25, 2009. Each certificate has a Home Care Registry number and a certificate number printed on it and is signed by the appropriate staff of the training program.

Additional Ny Hha Criteria
- Must be at least 18 years of agehome health aides
- Should be mature, emotionally and mentally stablegeriatric nursing assistants
- Be able to read and write understand and carry out directions and instructions and keep simple recordscertified medicine aides
- A minimum of an eighth-grade reading level is recommended
- Be in good physical health not dependent or addicted to depressants, stimulants, narcotics, alcohol or other substancesdialysis technicians
