Your Best And Worst Pandemic Dining Experiences

Dining during 2022 is a mixed bag. While it feels less fraught compared to earlier stages in the pandemic, a meal can still be a crapshoot.

And there are still plenty of ups and downs. The highs might include a first meal back at a restaurant or outdoors during a sunny spring afternoon. But the lows can be disheartening: sparse get-togethers after a string of surprise infections, or your favorite restaurant reopening only to close down again.

For an upcoming newsletter on the current state of restaurants and dining out, were asking readers for their best or worst dining experiences from 2022 so far. Tell us what was so special, or terrible, about this meal and we may include your story. To participate, you can fill out this form here.

Which Schools Are The Best New York Universities For Diversity

A majority of universities and colleges have made it a point to be all-inclusive and accepting of people from all walks of life. Even so, there are some top colleges in NY that make it a point to be as welcoming as possible to those who have alternative lifestyles or are from a minority race. The best New York colleges for diversity are LIU Brooklyn and Brooklyn College CUNY, but theyre closely followed by many other private and public colleges and universities in New York City. However, New York City does not have a lock on schools that are strong in diversity as Cornell University in Ithaca and University of Rochester both get high marks for diversity. Both of these schools rank high on the list of best New York Colleges which maks their appeal that much stronger.

Other top colleges in NY state for diversity include Ithica College which ranks highly for LGBT students, and Vassar College which was once a woman-only college. Vassar College has since become co-ed, but still retains a strong womens study program and supports the needs of female students.

Despite a tiny gym, it fields PSAL teams in golf, soccer, girls flag football and 10 other sports.

The Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University is a private law school with a relatively large student body, featuring about 1000 students. The bar passage rate is a little lower than higher-tier options, probably correlated with the more relaxed admissions requirements.

But as long as you achieve an LSAT score of 157 or more, you’ve got a good chance of getting in. The competition for entry is average, so you’ve got a good shot at getting in compared to schools in the top 50. Campus life is active, and the law school represents a significant part of the student body, but the focus is definitely on academics.

Although it’s officially a Jewish school, the student population isn’t particularly religious. While here isn’t any religious influence on curriculum, but there is strong support for the Jewish community here. While tuition is quite high for a school outside of the top 50, this school offers more financial assistance for students than any reviewed in this state so far.

This private university is located in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. It is relatively large for a law school with a student body of around 1700. The school is quite tough to get into, but it’s a smidge easier by acceptance rate than admissions for Columbia or Cornell. Curriculum here is incredibly intensive, though and students here do need to work hard.

While there’s an active social scene at this school, the workloads prevent too much hedonistic behavior. NYU law school is another historic campus the school started in 1831. With a fantastic bar passage rate and stellar post-grad salaries, the price is expensive but justifiable, although you’ll need to have your application well in order to be successful.

Hunter College Upper East Side Manhattan

Founded back in 1870, Hunter College is one of the largest CUNY schools in terms of enrollment. It is highly ranked by US News and has the best student-faculty ratio of any CUNY college at 13:1. The school’s also got a fairly high 85% freshman retention rate.

Well known for its liberal arts and nursing programs, Hunter offers more than 80 majors, spanning fields such as Arabic, dance, chemistry, and statistics. The campus is located just two blocks east of Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, so there’s a lot to do and see around Hunter.

Students on Niche gave high marks to the school’s value and diversity but a very low D- grade to the campus. Although many feel the school is extremely safe, they also agree that it’s on the less eventful side for a college, with no major emphasis on Greek life or sports.

Icahn School Of Medicine At Mount Sinai

Medical schools don’t need to be affiliated with a university, and the Icahn School of Medicine illustrates this point well. This highly regarded school is home to over 5,000 faculty members and 2,000 students, residents, and fellows. The School of Medicine is part of the Mount Sinai Health System, which includes eight hospital campuses and hundreds of clinical affiliations throughout the greater New York City area. Students clearly will find no shortage of clinical opportunities. The Icahn School of Medicine’s campus sits on the edge of Central Park, just north of the reservoir. The school’s admissions process is highly selective, but once admitted, students encounter a collaborative learning environment focused on people as much as the latest medical practices.
