Our Review Of The New York Citypass
We sometimes regret buying city sightseeing cards, either because they dont save us money, or we have to rush around visiting a lot of places to get our moneys worth. Thankfully, that wasnt the case with the New York CityPASS.
We loved using the CityPASS in New York City because it saved us a lot of money, plus we got to skip the ticket lines. Admittedly, the lines werent too bad when we visited in late January, but we could see that many of these attractions are set up to accommodate huge crowds of people.
Another thing I liked about the New York CityPASS was that it was straightforward and easy to see how much money we would be saving. It included all the main attractions we wanted to visit, and not a lot of stuff we werent interested in. Plus, since we had 9 days to use our tickets, we didnt have to rush around trying fit everything in.
Since the pass included free admission, we didnt have to carry around a lot of cash or lose money to credit card foreign transaction fees at every site we visited.
Even though we didnt make use of the additional coupons included with the CityPASS, we did appreciate that they were available to us.
What Can You See And Do With The Sightseeing Flex Pass
Buy a Sightseeing Flex Pass for 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10 or 12 attractions and have 60 days to visit them all. Create your own itinerary by choosing your favourites from over 100 attractions and tours! Find the full list here. For example, choose the Hop on Hop off Bus: a 72-hour ticket for the Uptown and Downtown routes counts as one attraction. Board right away with your pass, you dont have to get your ticket at another location. You could also visit the Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, take a sightseeing cruise and go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The modern observation decks Edge and One World Observatory are also included in the pass. In addition, the pass has dining attractions that offer $15-$25 credit towards the bill.
Due to COVID-19 you currently get a one day Hop-on Hop-off ticket with the Flex Pass.
New York Go Select Pass
The Go Select Pass is also known as New York Go Pass and a customized pass that lets you choose your attractions in advance. The pass offers reduced rates for the attractions. Overall, you can save up to 20% with the Go Select Pass, compared to regular admission fees. Once activated, you have 30 days to complete your New York sightseeing program.
What attractions and tours are included in the Go Select Pass?
The Go Select Pass includes all important attractions and tours in New York and allows you to totally customize your pass. However, you do need to decide what you want to see while booking. Once set, you cant make changes. You can find the full list of included attractions here.
How much does the Go Select Pass cost?
The price of your Go Select Pass is very dependent on the attractions and tours you choose. In general, you will save 10 to 20% with the pass.
Is the Go Select Pass worth it?
No! The Go Select Pass lacks flexibility. Once booked, you cannot change your mind if youd like to visit a different attraction. On top of that, the savings with the Go Select Pass are slimmer compared to other passes, like the Sightseeing Flex Pass or New York Explorer Pass.

What Is The New York Explorer Pass
The New York City Explorer Pass is a great option to visit attractions in New York without needing to purchase tickets at every single attraction. The New York City Explorer Pass covers it all and lets you save up to 50% compared to regular admission fees. You can choose between 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 or 10 of over 100 attractions. If you dont know what you want to see, dont worry: There is no need to select any New York Explorer Pass attractions in advance. Simply choose as you go!
The Explorer Pass also offers a build your own pass option, formerly called Go Select Pass. Choosing this pass, however, you will need to predetermine your attraction upon purchase and only save 10-20% based on the number of attractions. Because it offers less flexibility and also lower savings, I do not recommend this version. If you do want to learn about it, head to the Go Select Pass.

What Legal Authority Does Osha Have To Create This Rule
The Occupational Safety and Health Act gives OSHA authority to respond quickly to emergency situations when workers are confronted with grave threats. Because of the serious threat posed by the pandemic, the agency has issued an emergency temporary standard allowing it to put in place this new rule. Labor lawyers say this is within OSHAs legal authority. Still, the rule is likely to face challenges, and dozens of attorneys general have already threatened to sue.
The pushback is going to be on the question of, Is this an occupational hazard? said Doug Brayley, an employment lawyer at the law firm Ropes & Gray. When youve got a virus circulating everywhere, is it within OSHAs authority to regulate it as an occupational health matter? I think OSHA will prevail, but Im not certain.

Our Take On The New York Citypass
The New York Citypass is an ideal choice for anyone whos looking for a simple and uncomplicated pass and doesnt want to busy themselves with countless attractions and options.
Because the attractions are more or less fixed and only a few possible variations exist, its relatively easy to decide whether the pass is of interest.
If you want to visit all 6 attractions, the Citypass is a good option. If one of the attractions doesnt interest you, the pass is generally still a good choice. If two or more attractions dont interest you, then the Citypass isnt for you.
Where The New York Pass Falls Short
Ill be honest, its pretty hard to come up with a bunch of disadvantages to the New York Pass. I think its one of the best sightseeing passes available in any city. But there is one glaring omission I have to mention.
In my opinion, using the subway and bus system is the best way to get around NYC. Sure, taxi rides are faster, but they can cost a fortune. While you can certainly purchase your own MetroCard here, adding a transportation option would be a nice addition to this pass.
Another thing some may find disappointing is that the New York Pass does not include access to the pedestal or crown at the Statue of Liberty. But trust me, when it comes to the crown, you arent missing anything.
I spent about 4 hours climbing stairs inside the statue to reach the crown. It wasnt worth it. In fact, the view is far better from the observation deck although tickets for the observation deck on the pedestal are no longer included either.
With that said, if youve got your heart set visiting the crown or the pedestal, youll need join the waiting list and purchase your tickets separately.

Our Take On The New York Freestyle Pass
The New York Freestyle Pass is a really good choice if youd like to use the Hop-on-Hop-off-Busses in New York and want to visit the most important attractions in as short a time as possible.
The 72 hour ticket for the busses normally costs $84 alone already, which is why its financially worth it in most cases.
If you dont want to use the busses, the Freestyle Pass isnt the right pass for you though.
The Freestyle Pass is unfortunately also the only New York pass where you have to exchange your online voucher on site for an actual pass. The office is indeed found centrally in Times Square, but its still not optimal.
