How To Buy Discounted Broadway Musical Tickets

The classic way to get discounted Broadway tickets is to wait in line at the red TKTS Booth located on 47th St & 7th Ave. It sells discounted tickets for performances on the same day. You can also download the TKTS app and check which shows have the tickets on sale that day.
In general, the earlier you get to the booth, the better as the tickets do sell out fast, but the blocks of good seats will only be released close to the playing time. You can buy up to six tickets per person at a time. But, there is a $5 – $6 fee per ticket, which is still much lower than the fees on most ticketing websites.
Besides its flagship location in Times Square, TDF operates two other booths in the city. The newest is at Lincoln Centers David Rubenstein Atrium, which is indoors and far less crowded. The other one is at South Street Seaport, the corner of Front and John Streets.
If there is a particular show that you want to see, check BroadwayBox for the advance purchase of discounted tickets. Some other good sources are TodayTix app, TheaterMania, GoldStar, and New York Show Tickets, which, however, costs $4 per month for membership.
For hot shows that you just cant get a discounted ticket to, buy it at the ticket office. At least, there, you dont have to pay the hefty service fee. Additionally, you can find deeply discounted tickets on sites like StubHub and VividSeats right before the curtain time.

What Are Broadway’s Covid
Broadway is requiring that all attendees aged five and older show proof of vaccination starting January 29. That means they must have received their second shot of an FDA-approved dual vaccine or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two weeks before attending a show.
Guests who are less than 14 days out from their last vaccine dose must present proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance, or a negative antigen test taken within six hours.
New York residents can present their proof of vaccination through the Excelsior Pass if they wish, though any official vaccination certificates are accepted in digital or paper format provided they’re from a World Health Organization or FDA-approved dose. This applies to international vaccine certificates from visitors too. Anyone over the age of 18 must also present a valid photo ID to prove they’re the cert holder.
Guests under the age of five attending a show must be accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult. They’re also required to present a negative COVID-19 test to enter Broadway venues.
Currently, only guests over the age of 11 are required to present proof of vaccination to bypass testing requirements. The upcoming rule change on January 29 follows the expansion of vaccine requirements of the Key to NYC policy to children over the age of five.
Theater Is Back After A Year Of Going Dark

After a long absence, Broadway is officially back. The home base of American theater quietly began performances again in August 2021 with the play Pass Over, but on September 14, it was back in full swing with the re-openings of big tourist attractions like The Lion King, Wicked, Hamilton, and Chicago. Now the season, for the first time in more than a year, is kicking off and audiences are heading back to theaters. And while the Omicron COVID-19 variant did interrupt some productions, closing the likes of Jagged Little Pill, Waitress, and Ain’t Too Proud, the show is still going on. Here’s what we think you should go see if you’re ready.

Lovers of dance will be dazzled by the choreography by Bill T. Jones , Garrett Coleman and Jason Oremus, which combines elements of tap, Irish step dancing and African Juba.

How Long Is The Musical
A Broadway musical usually lasts between 2 and 2.5 hours. It is divided into acts and there are breaks in between, so you can go out to the toilet and stretch your legs without missing a minute of the show.
Knowing the duration of the show you have chosen is essential for you to be able to organise the plan of activities you will do that day.
What It Is About
Everyone knows Dorothy Gale, a ten-year girl from Kansas best known for the red slippers and her adventures in the Land of Oz, but none of us knows the history of her emerald green enemy, the Witch of the West, and how she became so wicked, until 2003 when Wicked came to Broadway.
With incredible stage sets, music, and dance, the show reveals an untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two young women: the blonde and very popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba. They struggle through opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, reactions to the Wizards corrupt government, and, ultimately, Elphabas public fall from grace.

What The Constitution Means To Me
When she was a teenager, playwright and actor Heidi Schreck debated the U.S. Constitution in competitions across the country. She revisits her 15-year-old self and her relationship with the founding document in her innovative play, which was a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize. Her performance is bruising and breathless as she grapples with the Constitutions failure to protect several generations of women in her family, and women in society at large.

To Kill A Mockingbird
Director: Bartlett Sher Why it’s great: Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of Harper Lee’s seminal novel had a rough journey to Broadway, but it overcame a lawsuit to become one of the biggest hits of the season. Sure, it was snubbed for Best Play at the Tonys, but you should still make time for itthat is, if you can snag a ticket. What’s most fascinating about Sorkin’s take on the material is how he chooses to reframe Atticus Finch’s famous arguments. This isn’t some kind of Go Set a Watchmen revision of the character, but the play takes a skeptical eye to Finch’s axioms about walking around in another person’s shoes, while still allowing for all the speechifying you’d expect from a Sorkin-Jeff Daniels collaboration. Adult actors savvily play the children, Scout, Jem, and Dill, who narrate the action. Their voices are a highlight, as is the expanded role of Calpurnia.
