What Is The Hardest Thing About Learning To Roller Skate

The ground. Last week, students took part on a school wide community day adventure to Brooklyn Bridge park. The student council helped organize a roller skating event on behalf of 380+ students. Everyone was having fun. People had lunch, roller skated, played basketball, played on the swings, etc.. People roller skated, even if they did not know how to. People learned to roller skate through trial and error. People also had fun doing other things such as playing basketball, and running around. In the playground, LMC expressed plenty of joy swinging back and forth on the swings or simply relaxing on the fields. The weather turned out to be extremely well, while we did all these fun activities with supplementary joy. Our day became a beautiful day, after experiencing more adventures and activities. There were a lot of people eating lunch with their friends and teachers. It was an extraordinary and fun day. We thank all the teachers and staff, and our principal, the children of LMC thank you for letting this day happen.

It didnt matter that she didnt know how to skate. As soon as Erica Purcell heard that a roller skating rink was opening at Brooklyn Bridge Parks Pier 2, she said she made plans to check it out.

I love coming to Brooklyn Bridge Park so when I heard about this rink I had to bring my 5-year-old MaTeo, Purcell said. Its a great thing to do with the kids and it doesnt matter if we cant skate because these are going to be memories that hes going to have for the rest of his life.

The rink, which officially opened on Friday, is the final piece of Brooklyn Bridge Parks Pier 2 that also includes courts for basketball, bocce, shuffleboard and handball as well as picnic and physical fitness areas, a swing set and a turf field.

Pier 2 is finished and this is the cherry on the top in terms of active recreation, said Brooklyn Bridge Parks President Regina Myer, referring to the new rink. This is the park that people wanted. We opened up the entire planning process to the community and people came out and told our designers exactly what they wanted. It has been totally community driven.

Its no rinky-dink rink either. Operated by New York Skating LLC, it features full hockey boards and boxes that will provide opportunities for roller skating, roller hockey and roller derby events.
