A car pulling a camper will be considered one transaction and it can use the E-ZPass that is mounted on the car windshield, according to the Thruway Authority. The new electronic system will automatically reclassify the transaction when pulling a camper or trailer.
Cash toll rates are calculated based on the height of the vehicle, the total number of axles of a vehicle and distance traveled. Vehicle classification for E-ZPass are calculated using the height and axles of a vehicle and its towed vehicle, if applicable.

A new offer will be tabled to the militant RMT rail union as early as today in a bid to halt their strikes.
It is understood train bosses will make a new pay offer of at least 9 per cent over two years to workers for 14 firms. This is up from the current 8 per cent offer.
They had looked at a 10 per cent rise and this was considered by ministers.
But officials are understood to have only approved an extra 1 per cent increase.

What If A Vehicle’s License Plate Is Unreadable
The Thruway Authority contends its system has enough safeguards in place to ensure it can properly bill motorists.
The high-tech cameras on the tolling gantries capture photos of each vehicle’s license plate from multiple angles. If the automatic system doesn’t pick up the plate system on its own, it flags a manual review in which the photos can be enhanced and assessed by a human.
Under state law, it’s the responsibility of the driver to ensure their license plate is clean, readable and unobstructed. Otherwise, the driver can face a fine of $25 to $200, according to the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Motorists should be fully aware of their responsibility to have clean and visible plates, and the New York State Police will enforce these vehicle traffic laws,” said Jennifer Givner, Thruway spokesperson.
That said, thousands of New York motorists are driving around with plates that are peeling, a common problem that forced the state into changing vendors for the plates’ laminate covering. The state DMV offers free replacements for any peeling plates.

Do I Need To Have My E
If you’re using E-ZPass, your transponder should be mounted on your windshield to ensure the tolling gantries can read it. New York state encourages drivers to place their transponders on the inside of their windshields, behind and to the right of their rearview mirror.
A transponder will likely not be read by the tolling gantries if it is in your cup holder or glove compartment, according to the Thruway Authority.

Cashless Tolling is a new innovative method of toll collection used on the entire Thruway. With Cashless Tolling, all vehicles simply drive under a tolling gantry and enjoy the benefits of reduced congestion, improved safety, and reduced air pollution.
If you have E-ZPass, it is business as usual. Be sure to mount your E-ZPass tag on the windshield and keep your license plates and payment information up to date on your account.
NOTE: E-ZPass customers who do not properly mount their E-ZPass tag , which results in their tag not reading properly while traveling on the Thruway, will be charged the Tolls by Mail toll rate. The Tolls by Mail rate is 30% higher than the E-ZPass NY toll rate. This is due to the time and cost associated with the process to identify vehicles that do not have the tag properly mounted or not detected in the vehicle. All E-ZPass NY customers with special discount plans will also be charged the Tolls by Mail rate when their tag is not read. If you do not have E-ZPass, an image of your license plate is captured and a Toll Bill is mailed to the registered owners address on file with DMV.

Pay A Fastrak Toll Invoice
As of January 2021, tolls incurred at Bay Area bridges will be included on a Toll Invoice when a toll is not electronically collected through the use of a FasTrak toll tag, License Plate Account, or One-Time Payment.
FasTrak will issue an invoice to the vehicleâs registered owner following the first toll crossing. Any future toll crossings will be included on a monthly invoice, the period for which starts on the date of the first crossing. You must pay this invoice within 21 days online, over the phone, by mail, or by using a Cash Payment Location. State bridges and Golden Gate Bridge transactions will be on separate monthly invoices.
If you use Bay Area Express Lanes, you must use a FasTrak toll tag, otherwise you will receive a violation notice including toll evasion penalties.

Mta Port Authority Issue Warning To Those Who Dont Pay Tolls Sent In Mail: Were Always Chasing The Money
NEW YORK Earlier this week, CBS2 told you a story about the Metropolitan Transportation Authority pulling over a man facing tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid tolls and fees.
But not ever toll violator is such an egregious evader.
So what are local agencies doing to track down the commuters who are more casually avoiding payment by ignoring the tolls in the mail? CBS2s Jessica Layton explains the consequences.
When the MTA nabbed the person in a car on the Bronx Whitestone Bridge, it was a good get. The guy who owed $58,000 in unpaid tolls and fees was one of the most persistent toll violators the agency has ever seen.
That was a big fish, said Daniel Decrescenzo, president of MTA Bridges and Tunnels.
But if hes a big fish, what about the motorist minnows who dont owe that much, but are still ignoring tolls sent by mail? Dont assume theyre off the hook.
My saying is, Were always chasing the money,’ Decrescenzo said.
Maybe youve seen the posted warning signs, but what really goes into enforcement?
Decrescenzo says if you dont have an E-ZPass, you will get a bill for the toll within 30 days. If you dont pay that, another bill will in 60 days plus a $5 late fee. After 90 days, youre officially a violator.
Now we can take legal action or enforcement action against you, and we even give you time after that before we submit your plate for suspension to DMV, Decrescenzo said.
The agency collected about $1.7 billion in tolls last year.

Paying A New York Ticket By Mail And In Person
Drivers can pay traffic citations in New York by mail and in person regardless of whether or not they were issued a TVB traffic fine. Depending on the severity of the offense, however, you may be required to make a court appearance.
If you choose to provide your NY ticket violation payment of a TVB ticket by mail, fill out the corresponding sections of the citation, include the fee payment and mail the package to the TVB Plea Unit office in Albany. Drivers who decide to pay driving tickets in person, on the other hand, can do so through a nearby TVB office.

Driver License Suspension Reform
The New York State Legislature amended the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law in Chapter 382 of the Laws of 2020 and Chapter 76 of the Laws of 2021 to eliminate certain driver license suspensions and to allow motorists to apply for payment plans for certain traffic ticket fines, surcharges, and fees.
Following these changes to the VTL, you may be eligible for a payment plan at no additional charge for most suspension termination fees, other fees, fines, and/or surcharges you owe for traffic tickets.
Payment plan eligibility is limited to traffic ticket-related fines, fees, and surcharges. This legislation does not cover all types of required payments under the VTL.
