The access to the subway was good as a visitor and relatively easy to use to get to the major attractions. Nice to step away from the chaos of the city or attractions once you have had enough. Brooklyn Like Much Of New York That I Saw Is In Need Of

Brooklyn, like much of New York that I saw, is in need of repair and upgrades. The sidewalks in many places are poor and we all tripped up at some point during the two weeks. It was dirty with lots of rubbish flying around and in heaps, uncollected. Manhattan was similar in many places. Eateries in Brooklyn were many and were hit and miss. I found one nice Greek Restaurant and a great diner near the Brooklyn Bridge called Park Plaza, highly recommended. The corner shop near our hotel was a cheap alternative for coffee, food and snacks. I used it most days and they were friendly and nice. I did a lot of walking in Brooklyn and for all the downsides it is charming and in many parts, beautiful. Prospect Park is lovely.
