Licensed therapists say not only do many members of the LGBTQ community need time to process their sexuality, their loved ones often need time too.
“With parents, I think there’s a grieving process of the idea of how your kid was going to go through school or go through life and these milestone moments, whether it’s prom or a wedding,” said David Vidaurre, a senior therapist at the gender-affirming treatment community The Dorm.
“The pieces do fall together,” Vidaurre said.
But some of his colleagues argue sometimes they don’t.
“Because some parents really don’t ever come around,” said Alexa Connors, a senior therapist at The Dorm.
For many, the month of June is full of rainbows and smiles. It’s a time for pride. For others, there is pain. Coming out could be hard.
According to a 2019 study by Yale School of Public Health, across the world an estimated 83 percent of those who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual keep their sexual orientation a secret from all or most in their lives.
Jeff Ragovin, a proud gay man and chief commercial officer at the compliance software company Fyllo, says authenticity gets you far in the workplace and anywhere else.
“For people like us, who don’t hide it and live our lives and don’t live our lives in fear, people look up to that,” Ragovin said.

Days before the 53rd anniversary of the Stonewall uprising on 28 June, hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets of New York City on Sunday for the annual Pride parade.
Activism groups marched the parade route through Manhattan as crowds adorning rainbow, trans, and bi flags cheered in support of LGBTQ+ equality.
Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the US Supreme Court on Friday , many of the people marching the parade route protested the decision to make abortion illegal in States who wish to do so.
Planned Parenthood were one of the groups leading the parade chanting My body, my choice!

Planned Parenthood Leads Nyc Pride March As Many Call For Activism Amid Celebrations
NEW YORK — Thousands lined the Pride March route through Manhattan on Sunday, but the floats, confetti and rainbow flags were joined by new fears that their fight for freedom is not over.
The theme for Pride NYC this year was “Unapologetically Us.”
“It’s just love all around,” one spectator said.
As CBS2’s Alice Gainer reports, the march was back this year and the energy was contagious as massive crowds made up for time lost to the pandemic.
People of all ages marched, danced, ran and cheered.
“It’s important to be here because, because what happened back then, people weren’t allowed to be gay, and my papa is gay,” 8-year-old John said.

In 1970, the first march was held and has continued every year since as an annual civil rights demonstration.
“We are here to honor our legacy of our queer and trans ancestors. Pride is still a fight,” said Schuyler Bailar, the grand marshal of the march.
“I think it’s very important for us to remember that this is a protest as well as a celebration,” Brooklyn resident Lauren Vega said.
Many now wonder if same-sex marriage is next.
“Justice Thomas urged the court to go even further and overturn rights to birth control, privacy and marriage equality,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood.
“If I haven’t been more fearful for anything in my life, the time is now,” one speaker said.

Bud Light And Stella ‘down The Drain’ In Lgbt+ Protest
New York City’s famed LGBT+ Stonewall Inn said it would pour Bud Light and Stella Artois beer down the drain this week to protest corporate donations by the brands’ owner to conservative lawmakers who have backed bills targeting transgender rights.
The Greenwich Village bar, considered the birthplace of the US gay rights movement, said it would stop selling all alcoholic drinks made by the Anheuser-Busch brewer during June 25-27’s NYC Pride weekend.
According to data from Keep Your Pride, an LGBT+ campaign that monitors corporate donations, Anheuser-Busch has made 48 donations totaling $35,350 since 2015 to 29 lawmakers who have supported conservative bills on trans rights issues.
A spokesperson for Anheuser-Busch, the United States’ largest brewer, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation “our company and our brands are focused on making a positive and lasting impact when it comes to issues of equality.”
“We’re proud of our 22-year partnership with GLAAD … and we are proud to have received a perfect 100% score from the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index for LGBTQ Equality,” they said by email, referring to two US-based LGBT+ advocacy groups.
Stonewall Inn co-owner Stacy Lentz said the “pour out” protest would take place on Wednesday.
“You can’t turn your logo rainbow on social media, call yourself an ally, and then turn around and make donations that fuel hate,” Lentz said in a statement.

What’s The Nyc Pride Parade Route
The Pride Parade kicks off at 25th Street and 5th Avenue, then proceeds south on 5th Avenue before heading west on 8th Street. After crossing over 6th Avenue, it will continue on Christopher Street passing the Stonewall National Monument. It will then turn north on 7th Avenue, passing the New York City AIDS Memorial, before ending at 16th Street and 7th Avenue.

Pride Month now has as many consecutive consonants as a Serbian street sign. These extra letters represent people whose presence makes many gay men wonder, When did they leap on our bandwagon?
To serve a mixed metaphor: LGBTQIA+? Waiter, I didnt order this bowl of alphabet soup.
Plenty of other gay men repeatedly tell me that they, too, want to return their soup to the kitchen. They whisper for fear of being overheard by the Cancelista mobs.
After a drink or two, they ask me: How did we get shoved together with those with whom we have so little in common?
Lesbians? Our attractions run in opposite directions.
Bisexuals? At least these sexual centrists are with us sometimes.Transgenders? Particularly concerning surgical removal of penises: Just say, No!
Queers? Some applaud this term, but I consider it the ugliest homophobic slur the N-word against gays. Merriam-Webster defines queer as sometimes disparaging + offensive and ODD, STRANGE, WEIRD. Why would gay men embrace this self-humiliating label?
Intersexuals? Huh?Asexuals? There is no intersection in the Venn diagram of gay men who enjoy sex and people who do not. This disjunction rivals a steakhouse with a vegan section.
