New York has only limited online voter registration. In order to register online, you must already have an ID card issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, such as a driver’s license or a non-driver identification card. If you qualify, then you can register online using the Electronic Voter Registration Application.
Remember: If you DO NOT have a New York DMV-issued ID card, then you CANNOT register to vote online.
Instead, you can register to vote in person at your countys Board of Elections office , at a New York agency-based voter registration center, or at a Department of Motor Vehicles office.
To register to vote, you need to meet the eligibility requirements and prove your identity.

NEW YORK – The coronavirus pandemic has upended how many municipalities and states are conducting elections. New York has in-person voting as well as expanded eligibility for absentee voting. So although New York doesnt officially have mail-in voting, you can request an absentee ballot if you do not want to vote in person because of the risk of either contracting or spreading a communicable disease, such as COVID-19.
New Yorks Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 28, 2022. However, you can also vote in person during the early voting period, which is Saturday, June 18Sunday, 26, 2022. If youre voting via an absentee ballot, you return it either by mail or at your countys Board of Elections office. Alternatively, someone can deliver it for you at a poll site during early voting or on Election Day.
You must be a member of a political party to vote in New Yorks Primary Election.

Hochul was serving as an under-the-radar lieutenant governor under the shadow of former Gov. Andrew Cuomo until last year, when he resigned amid sexual harassment allegations, catapulting her into office.
Hochul beat back primary challenges Tuesday from New York Citys elected public advocate, Jumaane Williams, and U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi, a moderate from Long Island. She now turns her eyes to becoming the first woman to win election to the New York governors office this fall.
In a nod to the barrier-breaking campaign, Hochul gave an election night speech Tuesday on a stage underneath a glass ceiling at an event space in Manhattan.
Im also here because I stand on the shoulders of generations of women, generations of women who constantly had to bang up against that glass ceiling. To the women of New York, this ones for you,” Hochul said.
Hochul enters the general election campaign with a big advantage, running as the incumbent with a heavy fundraising advantage in a state that has more than twice as many registered Democrats than Republicans and has not had a GOP governor in 16 years.

I was visiting my favorite aunt in New York City. She had been a librarian before retiring. Naturally, we went to the main New York Public Library to admire its many decorative features.
It felt crowded to us, but my aunt, who was 86, acted as though it were another normal day.
At one point the five of us me, my aunt, my redheaded wife and our two fair-haired young daughters were standing in one of the bigger rooms gawking at the ceiling, murals and large windows.
As we stood there between the rows of tables, taking in the breadth of the room and all of its books, a young man who was obviously in a hurry to get wherever he was going came toward us.

What Is The Deadline To Register To Vote
To vote in New York, you must have registered to vote on or before Oct. 9.
To register to vote, you have to fill out a simple form that asks for information from your driverâs license, permit or non-driver ID your birthday, your ZIP code, an email address and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
That form is available online at voterreg.dmv.ny.gov/MotorVoter. If you go to that link, the form would take the average person less than five minutes to fill out, and then you will be registered. You must register online by Oct. 9 or you will not be eligible to vote in the general election Nov. 3.
You can also print out the voter registration form and mail it to the physical address of your countyâs Board of Elections. On May 4, 2021, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed S830 into law, providing for the automatic restoration of voting rights for individuals convicted of felonies upon completion of their prison sentences. Previously, state law provided for the restoration of voting rights after completion of both prison time and parole.
Voting rights for convicted felons vary from state to state. In the majority of states, convicted felons cannot vote while they are incarcerated but may regain the right to vote upon release from prison or at some point thereafter.
