New York Comic Con Returns To Javits Center

4 October 21

Many of this year’s events will be held in person.

This year’s New York Comic Con is a little different. Unlike last year, when the event was completely virtual, this year’s event is a tentative step towards restoring normality. There are still some virtual events that’s probably going to be a permanent addition to conventions but this year the annual sci-fi convention in-person panels and that’s awesome.

That said, there will be strict procedures in place. To gain entry, proof of vaccination is mandatory for anyone over the age of 12 and anyone under that age must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test. There will probably be plastic guards in place at the photo booths too, so be prepared. And it goes without saying that a mask must be worn at all times. You can read more about the health and safety policies here.

To ensure you don’t miss a thing, we’ve scanned the schedule, analyzed the sensor readings and pulled out the can’t-miss panels that you should make your top priority. Events will also be shown live on the NYCC YouTube channel.

Behind the scenes of the upcoming, new official “Star Trek” magazine plus a guest appearance from Una McCormack to talk about her new book “The Autobiography of Mr Spock”. Time: 10 a.m. EDT Place: virtual only programmingThe actor may or may not talk about his proposed trip to space with Blue Origin, but he’s almost certainly going to talk about his new album.Time: 11 a.m. EDT Place: Main Stage 1D, Javits Center

Where Should I Stay

NYCC usually offers a limited number of reduced-rate hotel rooms. These are generally fairly close to the convention center and sometimes include a shuttle to and from. Being a resident, Ive never done this, but its nowhere on the scale of SDCCs Hotelpocalypse. For 2021, there is as of now no information on hotels.

However, New York City is HUGE. If youre willing to use public transportation, you can probably find somewhere cheaper if you dont mind staying a bit further out. With the 7 line extension, which stops across the street from the Javits, its pretty easy to get to and from the convention every day.

Keep in mind that in New York City, AirBnBs are not legal unless the tenant is present. Please dont contribute to our housing crisis! There are tons of decently-priced hotel rooms if youre willing to travel, and we have several hostels if you just need some place to crash.

The title was announced at SDCC, along with a new CG styling thats a significant departure from the usual animation of the franchise. And for the first movie for the franchise in three years, almost any new details will be exciting. Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo teamed up during DCs New 52 era that saw the duos Batman run become a critical and commercial success, later followed by the Dark Nights: Metal miniseries, among others. Now, the two are moving to ComiXology for their new creator-owned original series, We Have Demons.

Why go? Both Snyder and Capullo have proven themselves to be a powerful pairing, and Snyder in particular has been making moves to do more original work with ComiXology. Demons is the first of many comics hes doing with the platform, and as his American Vampire and Batman books have shown, he loves writing monsters. And Capullo is an artist that can conjure up some real freaky stuff on the page, pointing to another potential hit in the making.

What We Do In The Shadows

New Yorks about to get invaded by vampires. With a preview of an upcoming episode and some special guests by their side, the cast and crew of FXs What We Do in the Shadows are holding a panel for the shows in-progress third season.

Why go? For the first two seasons, we called Shadows one of the best shows in its respective years , and season three hasnt broken that trend. If seeing a scene from an upcoming episode thatll surely be hilarious isnt good enough incentive to attend, maybe watching the cast riff with each other and whoever else they rope in onstage will be.

Back In Business: 150000 Attend New York Comic Con 2021

New York Comic Con 2021

After a years hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, New York Comic Con returned to New York City’s Javits Convention October 7-10, and welcomed back thousands of fans to the newly expanded convention center. Citing health and safety protocols, NYCC organizer ReedPop promised reduced capacity at the show and followed through. This year about 150,000 fans attended across the four-day event, compared to about 260,000 fans at the 2019 show, according to the ReedPop event director Kristina Rogers.

ReedPop safety protocols also mandated that all attending fans be vaccinated and wear masks at all times. The show backed up the mandate with enforcement that included a sizeable vaccination verification station at a nearby lot where every attending fan had to show a vaccination pass in order to get a green wristband that would allow them to enter the building. The station was well staffed and, from this reporters experience, verified each fan quickly.

It feels great to be back, the shows been smooth and the health and safety protocols were nice and smooth onsite, Rogers said. Having the community show up and support our policies as well as they did was the real key, mask wearing has been excellent. Indeed most fans appeared to keep their masks on throughout the four days,

Exhibitors and fans encountered by PW seemed happy to be back. Kuo-Yu Liang of pop culture consultancy Ku Worldwide, a former executive at ReedPop, said the show offered a glimpse of two trends.

Eliminating Ticket Reselling And Preparing For Massive On

Preparation for such a massive event is a year-round endeavor, and as New York Comic Conâs dedicated technology partner, Patron Technology is by their side every step of the way. Five months prior to event day, NYCC opens applications for Patron Technologyâs first-of-its-kind fan verification tool, which virtually eliminates the unauthorized resale of tickets by requiring each ticket holder to create a fan profile. This ensures only those who plan to attend the event are able to purchase tickets. âOur convention is at its best when itâs filled with deeply passionate and excited attendees,â said Kristina Rogers, Event Director of ReedPOP. âSo we take every precaution to ensure that our ticket inventory is secured for our loyal fans.â In 2019 alone, nearly 400,000 people were eligible for fan verification credentials.â

âWe really rely on Patron Technologyâs ticketing product to help manage the massive demand and keep us in the loop on whatâs happening.â
