How Can I Get To Philadelphia From New York

Best Way To Get From Jfk To Philly

Philadelphia Union vs. New York Red Bulls | HIGHLIGHTS – June 8, 2019

Hi there – what is the best way / combination of ways to get from JFK airport on a Sunday afternoon to central Philadelphia. I know there are various buses, trains, taxis etc that are possible.

Inside info from a local would be much appreciated!

Thanks

taxi from JFK to Penn Station $45 + tip + tolls = $60-$65

Amtrak from Penn Station to Philadlphia = $42 – $109 depending on which train you take

estimated travel time = 2h30min

any other way will add even MORE travel time to the 2h30min

or rent a car which is probably the quickest since you will bypass going into Manhattan and out of Manhattan and can cut through Staten Island and onto the NJ Turnpike estimated travel time is about 1h45min

Grab the Air Train from JFK to the Jamaica Long Island Railroad station . Take the LIRR to Penn Station and then grab the AMTRAK train to Philly.

Tram to subway and subway to Penn Station

NJ Transit to Trenton

SEPTA from Trenton to Philadelphia

With connection times, about 4 hours, but very cheap

Hello, I will be arriving at the JFK on august 2, 2007 at 11.00 PM. Is there any buses or trains to philadelphia?

Thanks

There is a 3am train that leaves Penn station to philadelphia for $60 . If you can hold off until 4:40am the cost is $45. To get there just follow the optimal directions listed above.

Another option , is to take a charter service like dave’s limo from JFK to Philadelphia. It cost’s $65 but I’d rather do that then handle the public transportation.

Traveling To Statue Of Liberty From Philadelphia

Chelsea Windows 10 Theme

I am taking a trip to Philadelpia with my family including two kids-5 and 2 and wanted to drive to the statue of liberty from there. Any advice for my on how to do this? I haven’t been to New York before and am nervous about driving there. Also thought we would like to visit the World Trade Center site while there if time allows.

Don’t drive to New York from Philadelphia. Take a train or a bus. Here’s a link that explains the options from the FAQs on the Philadelphia forum:

Have you considered other ways to get to Philadelphia from your home? Parking is unpleasant and expensive in Philadelphia, as it is in New York, and you don’t need a car unless you’re taking side trips out of the city. You’re actually better off without a car, in my opinion.

Since the Statue of Liberty stands on an island, you are not going to drive there from anywhere you need to take a boat. Also note that the interior of the Statue is closed for renovations until October.

I agree that it would make more sense to take a train you could take either Amtrak or the SEPTA/NJ Transit combo to New YorkPenn Station, and then the subway downtown for the WTC and the ferry to Liberty and Ellis Islands.

plenty of parking close to nj turnpike

After A Very Difficult Competition And A Borderline Identity Crisis I Decided The Tomato Pie Was More Delicious Than A Typical New York Slice

The tomato pie won me over with its flavorful and rich sauce, its crunchy and bread-like crust, and its lack of cheese topping. Although a typical New York slice or Sicilian pie will always have a special place in my heart , I can confidently say that I prefer Philadelphia’s tomato pie even though my entire family and probably most New Yorkers would call me crazy.

But I have to go where the taste buds take me, and this time, they’re taking me to a small bakery in Philadelphia.

How Long Does It Take To Drive

Driving the route yourself is always an option if you’re not too intimidated by the traffic in New York City . Traffic jams, aggressive drivers, and tolls put many people off from driving in the city, but if you’re one who’s up for a challenge, the 95-mile commute takes between an hour, 40 minutes and two hours, 30 minutes with traffic.

The most direct route will take you through New Jersey on I-95 or via the New Jersey Turnpike. The drive is rather uneventful and parking in either city can be a nightmare, so renting a car is not most people’s first choice. However, if you’re coming from the airport where rental cars are cheapest and you’re traveling in a group, road tripping can be economical and fun.

I Read That The Best Place To Get Tomato Pie In Philadelphia Is Sarcone’s Bakery

Located in South Philly, Sarcone’s is an Italian bakery that has been open for over 90 years. Unlike most New York pizzerias, Sarcone’s only serves one size pie, which costs $25 for 15 slices.

For comparison, my go-to pizzeria in Brooklyn costs $15 for a regular pizza pie, which has eight slices, and $20 for a Sicilian pie with 12 slices.

At first, I was surprised at how expensive the tomato pie was but when I saw the pizza, I quickly realized I was getting more pizza for my buck.

Day Trip Companies From Nyc

We are in NYC for a while next May so we might consider doing a day trip. I have seen two online. One to Washington to see the main sights and another to Philadephia and Amish country.

I have a couple of questions for anyone who can answer:

1) Are there any places in NYC to book these trips when we arrive? From my experience companies online tend to be much more expensive. We don’t want a private tour. I prefer to be on a group tour.

2) If anyone has been on the Washington trip do you actually get to go for a tour of the Whitehouse etc or do you just stop outside places to take photos?

Edited: 3 years ago

You need to understand that going by train would be faster than taking a bus – as well as no more expensive as long as you buy train tickets well in advance. The buses to Philly and DC are on some of the most crowded roads in the country and subject to very heavy traffic and delays due to accidents or bad weather and often arrive late as well as having longer scheduled times.

DC is a very long day trip and to add that to the delays of bus travel you would have very limited time to see/do things there.

Also I don t see who/how many you are. If there are any young children I think such long bus tours are a really bad idea.

As for your specific question – google will tell you easily enough.

Sorry, but the bus to Washington is significantly cheaper than the train, even if you book the train well in advance.
