Pros And Cons Of Laguardia International Airport

LGA has recently gone under some construction in the arrivals and departures terminals. Terminal B is pretty beautiful! We flew on United to Chicago from LaGuardia quite recently. Terminal C is even newer, having opened in 2022, and its the Delta Terminal. Its so gorgeous you feel like its not even an NYC airport .

When you depart from LGA, youll find a few good food options, lots of places to fill your water bottle, some airport lounges and standard airport stuff.

Arriving into LGA is a more upgraded experience than it has been in the past, much due to scheduled renovations to this otherwise historic terminal. The first time I flew out of LaGuardia, I wondered why it reminded me so much of a mid-1900s military airport. Thats probably because the original LaGuardia airport was built in 1939. With the Terminal B and C facelifts, LaGuardia now feels like a world-class place to fly in and out of, in the greatest city in the world.

Taking a Lyft or Uber home from LGA now has a designated area for ride share apps. Within the app, it will give you a small range of areas to stand to wait for your ride.

This system really helps keep things organized and prevents people clumping together all waiting for their specific car.

You can call your ride share a few minutes before because once you exit the airport. The pick-up area isnt very big, and if you follow signs, it is simple.

Khpn White Plains Westchester County Airport

How to get from LGA (Laguardia Airport) to Manhattan Travels With The ...

White Plains is most likely the second most popular departure point for private jet flyers in the New York area. Situated in northern Westchester County, it provides good access into and out of the city via such arteries as the Hutchinson Parkway. Arteries such as the Hutch offer a convenient, car only route that usually flows freely. The location is also convenient for West Chester residents – they can enjoy the proximity of one of the top New York City airports.

Unlike Teterboro, KHPN is home to several airways and has a commercial terminal. However, that terminal is only slightly larger than the surrounding FBOs, and private part 91 hangars. The airport is a hub for more Part 91 aircraft than any other airport in the country, with numerous fortune 500 companys flight departments calling it home. This allows private jet users to continue to have the upper hand at this airport, and overrule the airline operations on major issues.

With a scenic layout, and convenient local airport for those that live north of the city or in nearby Greenwich, and Stafford Connecticut, White Plains is an excellent option for arrival and departures. It is not subject to delays as often as Teterboro airport being well north of the major commercial traffic. Due to its lower popularity, the private jet operators are more often free, and clients may save money by booking aircraft that are based there.

How Are Jfks Airport Amenities

Honestly, who cares about airport amenities? I mean, really? Either youre some kind of diamond-ultra-plus-extra airport lounge member or youre just another jetlagged, bleary-eyed transit hobo searching for an outlet. And youre probably wearing UGG boots. And no one in New York cares.

If youre at JFK super late, Terminal 1 has 2- hour dining options. So thats cool. And Boingo offers complimentary wi-fi which basically means nothing.

Once youre through the terminal, all NYC airports are basically the same. They have food, coffee, alcohol, overpriced Bluetooth headphones, Dan Brown novels, and Annies Pretzels. There are always pretzels. And if you didnt get your I Heart NY t-shirt theyre a bargain at $38 a pop.

Getting To Manhattan From Jfk

John F. Kennedy International Airport is located in Queens, about 14 miles from the heart of Manhattan. On average, getting to Manhattan from JFK will take about 1 1.5 hours, depending on the time of day.

Getting to Manhattan from JFK airport via taxi

The great thing about taking a taxi from JFK to Manhattan is that theres a flat rate system in place. In fact, JFK is the only airport that has flat taxi rates to get to Manhattan from the airport. Taxis at JFK charge a flat fare of $52 to get from the airport to Manhattan.

On top of the $52 flat rate, theres a $4.50 surcharge imposed during peak hours , bringing the total fare to $56.50 + tolls & tip. All told, I typically pay $75-80 when taking a taxi to Manhattan from JFK. In terms of time, taxis from JFK take between 1-1.5 hours, depending on traffic.

Getting to NYC from JFK using Uber or Lyft

Much like taxis, expect an Uber or Lyft from the airport to Manhattan to take 1-1.5 hours, depending on traffic. But unlike taxis, theres no flat rate and prices vary drastically depending on the time of day. Ive paid as much as $160 for an Uber to as little as $35.

My rule of thumb is to check Uber/Lyft prices while Im waiting on my luggage. If the prices are under $80, Ill probably order the service, but if the cost is $80+ Ill take a taxi to the city.

Getting to JFK from Manhattan using the subway
  • Step 1: Take the subway from Manhattan to Jamaica Station
  • Step 2: Take the AirTrain directly to your terminal at JFK

Whats Parking Like At Jfk

Parking is en masse at JFK, and there will be lots of options. You can park at JFK for as little as 30 minutes or you can do long-term parking for the length of your trip. That may add up quickly.

Parking rates at JFKs many airport parking lots are competitive, though. For self parking, you may be paying as little as $5.75 a day, which is pretty crazy, given the price of everything in New York City. You may want to directly access the JFK website parking info site.

How Do You Get To And From Newark Airport By Subway Or Bus

The one exception to my Newark hate is the Newark Airport Express shuttle bus, which is the best way to get from Newark to Manhattan. This marvel of janky bus travel once got me from Penn Station to my terminal at Newark in 17 minutes. I know that sounds impossible, and it isbut it happened.

The express bus costs $18 and runs from 4:45am 2am . It stops at Port Authority, Grand Central, and Bryant Park and doesnt stop anywhere else. If you like that bus from Harry Potter, youll love the Newark Airport Express.

What Is The Best Airport To Fly Into For New York City

Many people prefer flying into or out of New York Citys JFK airport because it is the best. Its easy to get to/from the subway station, as well as an abundance of flights departing and arriving.

The Best Way To See New York City

It is impossible to truly experience everything New York City has to offer in one day. To put it another way, if you intend to see all of the citys major sights and attractions, you should plan on spending at least five days in the area. Youll be able to see some of the citys more well-known neighborhoods in three days, but you wont be able to see many of the hidden gems.

Can I Take Mass Transit Or The Subway To Ewr

You can take mass transit . Listen up: you can take the subway to Penn Station at 33rd St in Manhattan, and then hop any of the NJ Transit trains that have a little airplane icon next to the train departure on the departures boards at Penn Station.

To make this simpler, use Google Maps! Make sure that your directions dont involve buses, because you do not need to take any buses to get to Newark Airport from Manhattan. Taking an NJ Transit train from Penn Station is only about five stops.

The best tip I can give is to NOT get off at Newark Penn Station: this is super crucial, because it will come first if youre riding your train from Manhattan. Make sure you get off the train at Newark International Airport, which will be the second station that starts with the word Newark.

A fun fact is that Newark International Airport is actually smack between the city of Newark and the city of Elizabeth, NJ! Its not actually in the center of Newark, so getting off your train in the city of Newark wont do you any good.

Which Is The Best Airport To Fly Into Nyc

For most people traveling in and out of New York, JFK is the best airport to fly into. Its the easiest to get to/from on the subway and has a good variety of flight departure times and destinations.

LaGuardia is a good second choice if youre staying in Queens, Midtown, or Williamsburg and willing to take a taxi to/from the airport.

Newark , however, should be your last choice. Even if flights to Newark are $50-$80 cheaper than JFK or LGA, you might end up paying the difference in fare on a taxi, or braving New Yorks confusing public transportation to/from the airport.

New York City Airport Limousine Service

One thing that we do know is that, especially after a long flight, theres nothing like a relaxed, private car or limousine ride to take you on the last leg of your trip. A reputable New York or Connecticut airport limo service will monitor airplane flight arrival data in real-time, often from FAA-authorized information transmitted directly from aircraft transponders. Whether your in-bound flight is running early or behind schedule and even if youre arriving late at night or first thing in the morning your chauffeur should always be there to meet you.

An experienced driver will likely know the best way to your destination, getting you there as quickly as possible while allowing you to rest or prepare for a meeting. Likewise, taking a limousine to JFK or LaGuardia from Connecticut is a great way to start your trip.
