Shoulder season: Falling between high season and off season is shoulder season. In New York, shoulder season occurs in the spring and fall Spring and fall are pleasant times to visit in terms of weather, lower crowds, and lower prices.
Off season: January through March are the off season in New York, mainly due to the harsh winter weather at this time of year. However, this can be a great time to visit and score some good deals if you dont mind the cold. The first week of January is also a little-known time to visit for experiencing all the holiday magic of New York without the massive crowds.
Feel The Holiday Spirit In New York City Without The Crowd
Towards the end of fall is the time when the entire New York City is preparing for the upcoming Christmas holiday season. If you have seen any Christmas movies and TV shows based in New York City then you know how beautiful and festive the city becomes every holiday.

One downside of the festivity in New York is that it gets REALLY crowded around Christmas time. However, if you are visiting New York in November, you can actually see all these festivity without the crazy crowds.

Usually, most of the families going to New York do not like to get into the crowd, or it is actually difficult to go sightseeing in very winter and the crowded places in New York. The plus point of going to New York during crowd time is that you willget air tickets at a cheap cost, plus the stay in New York would be cheap.

The weather in New York can be quite mild until the middle of October, which is when some rooftops start to close, although there are some that are heated or have retractable roofs. October is a great month to visit because of the beautiful foliage.
As the leaves start changing colors, everything looks so ethereal . Sometimes it is very hot during the day and cool at night, much like the spring.
The weather is often ideal at this time of year, making it perfect for walking, hiking and exploring in general. There are always various festivities around the City. Halloween is a big celebratory time, where there is a parade in the village and everyone goes bar hopping or to various parties around the City.
Definitely a different vibe as apposed to the massive influx of tourists that pour in during the summer months. Although, there are tourists all year round, November is usually colder but a great time for a scenic road trip to upstate New York . Visiting Nyc In November
Visiting NYC in November is another gorgeous time of year to visit. Its usually towards the end of October, start of November that youll get to witness the stunning autumn colours in the citys parks. Theres nothing quite as beautiful as the amazing autumn leaves in Central Park.
For events, theres loads in November. You obviously have Thanksgiving but theres also the Long Island Boat Parade, the New York City Americas Day Parade too.
Another lovely thing about visiting in November, is that if you visit at the beginning of the month youll get to see some of the Halloween events and decor, and if you visit towards the end of the month, youll get to see some of the Christmas events and decor. So you can time your visit to the holidays you want to celebrate!

When To Visit New York City For The Holiday Season

Lots of people visit NYC specifically to get in the holiday spirit in the weeks leading up to Christmas. One of my favorite things to do in mid-December is to walk around midtown Manhattan at night to take in the over-the-top Christmas decorations, holiday windows, and light shows.
Holiday performances like the Nutcracker Ballet at Lincoln Center and The Rockettes Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall are perfect activities for anyone visiting NYC during the holiday season!
If you want to avoid the holiday rush and crowds, then plan your visit for early January. Most of the holiday decorations will still be up, but there is a dip in tourism in the weeks after New Years Eve and the busy holiday season. Hotel prices will be cheaper, attractions will be less crowded, and you can continue celebrating the holidays for a bit longer!

The weather and climate in New York city is very distinct across the four seasons, with a full range of temperatures throughout the year. New York City experiences an average of 119 days of rain per year, and an average snowfall of 25 inches during the winter.
Summer weather is best described as swampy, with temperatures in the mid-70s to upper-90s plus extreme humidity and occasional thunderstorms. July and August are the hottest months to visit NYC. Average winter temperatures are in the low-20s to 40s, plus frequent windchill and ice. Be sure to pack sturdy and warm boots for this time of year!
Like I mentioned, spring and fall are the best times to visit NYC because the weather and temperatures will be most predictable and comfortable. Average temperatures in the spring range from the mid-40s to low-70s , and fall temperatures are typically in the low-50s to mid-70s. Dressing in layers, no matter what time of year, is absolutely key to visit NYC.

New York is anyway famous for its Jazz Fest, which is held in more than 11 venues. Birdland and Blue note are the most famous jazz pub in New York. In the entire month of January, there are at least 100 shows that are put up. There some Broadway shows.

Our favorite time in NYC is May and June or September and October. When the summer is beginning, everything has bloomed from the spring and the air has mostly cleared of the allergies.
In the spring, its not super hot, yet, and the attitude in the city is nice and friendly. And, the days are still getting longer until June 21, so youll get some of the most daylight to get out and explore.

We also like September and October in autumn because its a nice cool after a hot summer has left us sweaty and sun-kissed. Its very pleasant to walk around when the leaves start to change and the nights are crisp and cool.
Before daylight savings time in November, the sun will set around 6-6:30 pm, so theres still plenty of daylight to walk around in and explore before dinner. Note, though, that after we change the clocks in late October or November, and we fall back until mid-March, the sun will go down between 4:30 and 5 pm.
