Take A Taxi From Lga To Nyc

Metered taxi service is available at all LaGuardia Airport terminal buildings. A taxi from LaGuardia to Manhattan has no flat fee like there is from JFK to Manhattan.

Since the ride is on the meter, costs will depend on where you need to go to in Manhattan, the amount of traffic you experience, and the amount of time spent in the taxi.

Generally, a taxi from LGA to Manhattan can cost you between $35-$50, not including tolls, tip, and any applicable surcharges. But, keep in mind, an LGA to Manhattan taxi fare can be significantly more during peak traffic times and/or if your NYC hotel is outside of midtown.

Hire A Car Service To Pick You Up

This is an excellent way to travel if you’ve got loads of luggage or you’re traveling with kids. The driver will be waiting for you at baggage claim and will whisk your luggage to the car. If you’re got a large party, there are vans available that can seat as many as 10 people. This is a great way to get to and from the airport, but it won’t be cheap. Our favorite car services are Carmel Car & Limo Service or Dial 7 Car & Limo Service. Check them out and see if this option is for you.

Take The Subway From Lga To Manhattan Via Nyc/mta Bus

LaGuardia is served by the M60 and Q70, both of which are Select Bus Service lines. This means you need to pay your fare before boarding the bus in an attempt to load passengers onto the bus more quickly.

UPDATE: As of May 1, 2022 and for the foreseeable future as Laguardia continues its massive restoration, the Q70-SBS is free of charge. Youll still need to pay the subway fare to continue your journey into Manhattan. Metrocards can be purchased at the airport or in subway stations.

You can use a MetroCard or the exact amount in coins to pay your bus fare. There are kiosks outside just near the bus stop. Once you pay at the kiosk, youll be given a ticket printout to show proof of payment on the bus if/when asked.

If youre just arriving in New York City, you probably dont have a MetroCard. However, not to worry!

MetroCards can be purchased at MetroCard vending machines located in the LaGuardia Airport terminals. Once you have a MetroCard, you can use it to pay for the bus fare before you board the bus. As mentioned above, keep the receipt from the kiosk as proof you paid the bus fare.

A one-way trip on city buses or subways costs $2.75. Passengers using MetroCards on Select Buses from LaGuardia get a free transfer to the subway.

If its your first trip to NYC, just swipe the MetroCard at the subway turnstile and the transfer will register.

If you arrive at Terminal A, youll need to take the airport shuttle bs to Terminal B and then connect to the Q70 SBS.

How Much Is Uber From Laguardia To Manhattan

A similar choice would be to hire a car service, for example, Uber or Lyft. The only problem with this way of transportation you will have to understand which is the best road to take since the current construction has made it quite tricky.

Up until recently, passengers arriving in Terminal B had to take a shuttle bus to arrive at the area where most transportation options are available, but, thankfully, this is not the case anymore. If you land in Terminal B, your hired car service will wait for you up on the second level. Terminals A, C and D are located outside, which is why the best idea would be for you to contact your driver and explain where are you exactly.

Compared to standard taxis, a hired car service may cost you more. Of course, the price may change depending on the type of car you choose and what part of the day you arrive. Typically, you will pay somewhere between $40.00 and $75.00. Probably the best thing about choosing a hired service is the fact you dont have to worry and stress about the metered cab ticking up and up.

How To Go From LaGuardia Airport to Midtown Manhattan: Take The Q70 Bus & Subway

John F. Kennedy International Airport is located in Queens, about 14 miles from the heart of Manhattan. On average, getting to Manhattan from JFK will take about 1 1.5 hours, depending on the time of day.

Getting to Manhattan from JFK airport via taxi

The great thing about taking a taxi from JFK to Manhattan is that theres a flat rate system in place. In fact, JFK is the only airport that has flat taxi rates to get to Manhattan from the airport. Taxis at JFK charge a flat fare of $52 to get from the airport to Manhattan.

On top of the $52 flat rate, theres a $4.50 surcharge imposed during peak hours , bringing the total fare to $56.50 + tolls & tip. All told, I typically pay $75-80 when taking a taxi to Manhattan from JFK. In terms of time, taxis from JFK take between 1-1.5 hours, depending on traffic.

Getting to NYC from JFK using Uber or Lyft

Much like taxis, expect an Uber or Lyft from the airport to Manhattan to take 1-1.5 hours, depending on traffic. But unlike taxis, theres no flat rate and prices vary drastically depending on the time of day. Ive paid as much as $160 for an Uber to as little as $35.

My rule of thumb is to check Uber/Lyft prices while Im waiting on my luggage. If the prices are under $80, Ill probably order the service, but if the cost is $80+ Ill take a taxi to the city.

By Step Instructions For Taking The M60 Or Q70 Buses From Lga To The Subway

After you exit the secure area of LaGuardia Airport, before you exit the airport, youll need to get a MTA Metrocard. There are automated kiosks near the exits as well as a shop that sells Metrocards. In the times that I have been to LGA, there has also been a LaGuardia employee near the exits that is available to help answer questions.

After you have your Metrocard, you will go outside or LaGuardia Airport and cross over one lane of traffic and over to the island where the public transportation is. Its slightly different at each terminal, and LGA Airport is undergoing a ton of construction so it may not look exactly like this, but youre basically looking for something like this

VERY IMPORTANT! Both of the express buses do NOT let you pay when you board. You have to get your ticket BEFORE the bus comes. There are machines that look like this.

You still pay with your MetroCard. Its $2.75 for full fare and $1.35 for reduced fare / students. There are free bus-to-subway transfers, so youll just swipe your same Metrocard when you enter the subway station. The system is smart enough to figure it all out. I was a little nervous when I was there with my son, but it worked flawlessly. We bought 2 tickets at LGA airport to go to Manhattan on the Q70 bus on the machines above, and when we got to 74th Avenue to ride the F train, we swiped and it registered 2 bus to subway transfers and opened up the turnstiles for both of us to go through.
