The best way to get to the Aquarium is by subway. It is affordable and easy.

You can use this to get exact directions to the Aquarium from anywhere in NYC by subway, car, or bus.

Depending on where you are in Manhattan, it can take approximately 1 – 1 ½ hours to get to the Aquarium.

If you are in downtown Brooklyn, it will take around 45 – 60 minutes.

  • Take the Brooklyn-bound F train or Q train to “West 8th Street Station.” This station is a block away from the Aquarium.
  • You can also take the Brooklyn-bound N train or D train to the “Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station. This stop is a few blocks west of the Aquarium.

New York Aquarium Prepares For Reopening With Coronavirus Restrictions In Place

NEW YORK — The New York Aquarium in Coney Island reopens to the general public on Aug. 27.

The aquarium has been closed since March 16 and is now ready to welcome back visitors.

Face coverings will be required.

Several hand sanitizing stations will be available, and social distancing protocols will be in effect throughout the park.

Tickets will only be available online.

“They will attend only in that time slot. We’re running at limited capacity, so the aquarium itself will be only 25% and the exhibits themselves will be 33% of capacity,” said aquarium director Jon Forrest Dohlin.

“Spineless,” a new exhibit highlighting the diversity of marine species, will also open.

Health care heroes will receive free admission through Sept. 30.
